Took our trip June 15th 2021. Amazing experience. We did the small fast boat tour. Our guide was Rocky and he was awesome! We found tons of gators, even "Big Head". We didn't expect a 2 hour drenching ride, but it was super fun. Hot day, so we enjoyed being cooled off. My 5th trip to New Orleans and could never get anyone to go on a swamp tour with me. Four stars, but mainly because the ticket window lady was a little rude. Our captain was great! I'm sure they get plenty of tourists that are unfamiliar to the area, so when booking it would be nice for them to state consider renting a car to get out here or arranging some kind of transportation. When we were dropped off by our Uber, we walked up to the window and the attendant rudely said, "I was trying to tell you to tell her to come back in two hours to pick you guys up. It's very hard to get an Uber or Lyft out here." Umm, no you didn't try to tell us that, because you have been holed up in here, I didn't see you come out and wave or anything, so there is that. Secondly, it's a ride share, not even I would drive back in two hours to pick someone up, let's be real here. The airboat ride was good, we did it on New Years Day, which was cold and of course didn't see an alligator, except for a baby alligators eyes and head (that I couldn't see, it camouflaged well in the mud) that everyone else saw, and two or three other animals and of course we saw birds. Definitely can't wait to come back to the area, and will do another swamp tour, most likely with a different company, when it is expected for more reptiles to be seen. Our captain was pretty funny and had a great sense of humor, despite being cold and miserable, the good laugh was appreciated. read more

GREAT TOUR!! We booked out tour through our hotel. They have a bus pick you up, with a few stops at different hotels, and take you out to the water. I cannot remember our tour guides name, but we were on one of the smaller boats, so it was only our group of 4. The airboat was so fun! So, so, so fun! He was so knowledgeable and comes from a long family history of gator breeders and hunters. He knew everything about the area, from the environment, history, animals and if course the gators. I highly recommend if you want to take a tour, go through Cajun Style Swamp tours. And wear sunscreen! read more

Truly amazing. Booked a tour last minute trying to go around Louisiana and do as much as we could. Our guide was great very funny and knowledgable. The tour takes you thru the swamp lands on a fan boat which is very loud so they give you ear protection. Tour guides stop the boats and explain what type of plants and trees grow in the swamp and all the animals in the area. Got to see a spotted owl, an otter and an alligator. Take some comfortable clothes and appropriate for the weather. read more

I'm a Louisiana native now living in Washington, D.C. I returned home with two English friends in tow eager to enjoy their first time in Louisiana. We all LOVED the Cajun Style Swamp Tours experience. First, they were extremely helpful and communicative during the entire booking process. Captain Lou text messaged us to give us instructions and confirmation of our reservation. When we thought we might be late, we texted him, and he let us know that they could hold the boat for 5-10 minutes, but if not, we'd have to take a smaller airboat. We were of course fine with that appreciated the attentive customer service. We made it to the tour on time and hopped into the large airboat with other passengers. They were from all over the world, so my English friends weren't alone in needing my "translations" of our thick-accented tour guide. The whole tour lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes, which is about 45 minutes longer than other tours. And it was also cheaper, too (other tours ran about $30 more for a lot less time; ours was $53/person, and we thought it was an incredible deal). Our guide was fantastic. He was clearly educated (he pointed out he had gone to college several times) and knew about the SCIENCE and ecology of Louisiana's swamps, in addition to all the information we'd ever need to know about alligators. We walked away having learned that alligators have two stomachs, that only 2 percent of those born and raised in the wild survive, that the alligator is the only reptile to be added to and subsequently taken off the Endangered Species List, that alligators are not humans' predators (it's the other way around), etc. He often pulled over the boat to give us wonderful information that even I didn't know as a Louisianan! He was funny (I liked how he called the alligators' mates their "girlfriends" [the most Cajun/adorable thing ever]), knowledgeable and engaging. Now, I understand that the number of alligators guests will see is determined by the weather and season. I will just say that we saw about 30 alligators of varying sizes and ages over the course of ours, and we were there at the end of April. My guests especially enjoyed watching the alligators swim to the boat when we stop and await their marshmallow treats from the guide. It was truly something to behold. We also loved when the boat picked up speed and flew across the swamp. I can't say enough wonderful things about this tour company. I highly encourage visitors to Louisiana to check them out. You're going to get an authentic Louisiana experience, and you'll learn a lot, too. read more

This is the most fun we've had on this trip. My wife, daughter and I went on this kind of wondering what we were getting ourselves into but this was an absolute BLAST. Our Captain did a great job of explaining the area and how the swamps and byways were formed. He sped us up and slowed us down, got us up close and personal to some 'Gators and told us alot of great stories. The tour is a full 2 hours and well worth every penny. We paid $45 a piece and it was worth alot more. I think I was smiling the entire time. This is a gotta do if you're in the area. read more

I loved this tour! Our Guide was good but a little hard to understand. I think the combination of his Cajun accent and missing teeth was why. He fed the gators marshmallows because they are atrracted to white, plus they seemed to enjoy them. It was fun and we got to see quite a few gators swimming around, lazing about, and soaking up the sun. Our guide even had a baby gator that he pulled out of a plastic covered tub. Everyone ghasped and he passed the little guy around. Yup, he was a live baby gator and we all got to hold him. He never opened his mouth so he was either fed before the tour or sedated with nyquil. read more

If you are a visitor to New Orleans, your visit won't be complete without a swamp tour with Captain Lou! Captain Lou is a native of the Lafitte area and is very knowledgeable about the area's history, flora and fauna. We saw many alligators including a 1500 pound monster who came when Captain Lou called him. We were thrilled, if not a bit scared! Our tour started at 4:00 and we were treated to a spectacular Louisiana sunset over the water. Lou was content to cruise slowly while we snapped pictures. When the sun finally sank below the horizon, Lou played Cajun music as we made our way back to the dock. I highly recommend a tour with Captain Lou! He's the real deal! I have to admit that I was skeptical. I went here as part of a bachelor party excursion to New Orleans. Our groom discovered this place while watching the travel channel. I am so happy he discovered Captain Lou's Cajun Style Swamp Tours. This was one of the best parts of the trip. We climbed into our Hulkamania red and yellow colored fanboat and put on the matching headphones to protect our ears and away we went! we came right in the beginning of particularly humid August so every time the fan boat went fast, we got nice, dry, and air conditioned. Our captain was Captain Ernie and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the swamp, bayou and gators. The whole experience makes you feel like you are a part of some sort of action movie. This will be something I recommend to anyone going to Louisiana in the future. read more

We took an airboat ride with Cajun Style Swamp Tours on Saturday and it was awesome. Capt. Lou actually outsources his tours to another company and we were extremely lucky to get Captain Kelly! Captain Kelly made this airboat tour something special for my family!! He was really nice, patient and full of really great information. You can tell he is a very proud Louisianian! We were lucky to get a boat to ourselves (there were 6 of us) and the time of day (4pm) could not have been better. It was beautiful! I deducted one star because we were supposed to be picked up from our hotel between 2:45pm and 3:15pm. When a bus didn't show up at 3:20pm I called Captain Lou and he told me the bus had broken down and they just hadn't had a chance to call me yet. I get that things happen but a call would have been nice. But, we jumped in a Lyft and Captain Kelly waited for us. The tour was well worth the hassle of getting there and paying a Lyft driver to wait for us. Capt Lou did give us a $5 discount per person for the hassle. I will not hesitate to book with them again and request Captain Kelly. read more

It was a delightful trip and our tour guide delighted us all by allowing us to hold three little baby alligators that he had captured a few days ago. The first thing it made me think of was the waterboy and his mama speeding down the bayou to his Foozball game. Justin is very knowledgeable of the bayou. I looked online and found this Gator Tour which seemed to have good reviews and good prices. I called and quickly got a call back that they had availability and we scheduled our tour. Shortly afterward we got a text confirmation with all the information we needed. We drove to the place which was easy to find and even though we were a little late they were just getting on the boat and hadn't left without us. We got a small airboat tour and it was SO much fun riding around on, very fast and cool. The tour guide was very knowledgable and with humor he told us all about the swamps and the gators. I also didn't know that most of the land in Louisiana is family owned, which adds an added layer of sweetness. We saw a couple of big gators and he also had a baby gator that he let everyone hold. Booked our swamp tour on a small airboat (6 passengers) directly with captain Lou and received a very personalized service. We went on the actual tour with another captain (Jay?), he was very knowledgeable and passionate about the swamps- the highlight was when he kissed an aligator (wow some folks really have some nerves) and brought a baby one onboard.... Enjoyed the fast airboat experience, less than 2 hours long, saw a few small alligators, beautiful view of the swamps, don't forget to bring a coat (gets cool out there), sunglasses. One of the highlights of our spring break 2012. Saw 50+ gators; guide was fantastic and knowledgeable - even my skeptical teenagers (17 & 14) thought it worth doing again. I would recommend the smaller boat (6 person) for a more intimate trip. We'd shut off the boat motor and sit in water barely 6-12" deep - the gators would swim up to the boat and just float there. The guide was aware of gators that were bred in captivity for the first 2 yrs of their lives versus those that were born naturally - which can make a world of difference in deciding which ones you can touch and which ones you shouldn't (yes - with the guide's permission you can pet them as they swim around the boat). read more

Lou was great at helping me arrange a private airboat tour (for 12) and it was still cheaper than alot of the other tours! Reg. tour price: $55, our private tour price: $72 - that was still less expensive than alot of the other tour companies I checked out. He was helpful and quick to respond to all of my questions! I was lucky enough to go on a Swamp Tour for a work outing, and everyone had a blast. They actually sent a bus to pick us up from the CBD which made it even better since most of my department take public transportation to work and don't have cars. (I don't know if that's something they do on a regular basis or not, but it was a nice touch) Our tour guide was funny and very authentic. So authentic I had trouble understanding his cajun accent, but it was great. He was really interactive with the his passengers and when I said I wanted to pet an alligator (stupid me) he said "Ok, let's go!" and pulled up next to an alligator, opened the side door, and was reaching his hand in the water petting an actual alligator. I wasn't actually brave enough to try- I wouldn't even hold the baby alligator he had on board that every one passed around. But it was very cool nonetheless. I really enjoyed the history he gave us about the area as we went through the swamp since very few of us are from Louisiana. I would highly recommend a swamp tour to anyone wanting to see something other than Bourbon Street when visiting New Orleans. read more

I cannot believe how incredible this tour was!! Cap't Lou was so informative and lead a great adventure. This is as real as it gets. There's no props or fake decor. The alligators are so beautiful and amazing. Lou even jumped out of the boat in a grassy area to nab us a baby alligator for us to see up close!! My new wife and I took the 2 hour small air boat tour on April 18th. I have been on tours several times in the past 10+ years with this company and have never been disappointed in scenery, wildlife or guide I have had. This time was just as good as it gets, there were a ton of gators ranging in size from 3'-15'. The last gator we saw was by far the largest I have ever seen in the wild. It was awesome to have him swim up to the boat and when he actually surfaced and laid there so you could see his entire body!! He was like two and half times my size (6'). As stated, this is one of the most fun things you can do in the NO area!! Capn Lou is a great guy and took real good care of us, before, during and after the tour. We saw tons of gators, even though its mid-March and they're just now getting out with the weather warming, and they are just waking up from hibernation. (See I know these things -now- that I've been educated by our airboat guide). It was a blast crusiing around the water powered by a 454 engine and a modified airplane propeller! And here's the kicker about how awesome they are: Apparently we left our camera bag on the ground near the docks this morning and had no idea until we got back to our hotel tonight (the camera wasn't in it, it was with us, but our accessories were). We didn't know for sure where we left it but called Capn Lou on the main number. He called back from his cell within 5 minutes, and 5 minutes after that, he'd called his offices and they had the bag! And....he's putting it on the first shuttle back to NO to be delivered to our hotel in the morning! Amazing! THANK YOU CAPN LOU for a great ride, a great day and incredible integrity.
