I had such an awesome experience with Airboat Adventures. My friend and I did the swamp tour, and it was so much fun and was extremely informative. Our tour guide, Captain Dewey, was amazing - he was funny, friendly, and made an extra effort to get us to see wildlife - especially gators! The boat was comfortable and felt very safe. The price of the tour is great considering how amazing it was. Our tour ticket also included pick up and drop off from near the hotel, which was so convenient and helpful. I loved my swamp tour with Airboat Adventures - it really exceeded my already high expectations.

So worth every dollar! The pickup locations are also easy and convenient with many options to choose from. The boat can get a bit loud. But your provided with ear protector wear if you wish to use it. It doesnt matter what side you sit on. If theres a gator... the guide would have one side of the boat see it. Then he'd turn the boat so that people on the other side can see it. It can get warm cause your out in the sun. When its going full blast... the air feels nice. Wear a hat or sunscreen. Take cash so you can tip the tour guides.

We booked through Grayline tours, which was well organized with Airboat Adventures. We road the large airboat, which gives you all the same viewing opportunities as a small airboat would. Our Airboat guide Cory was very funny and knowledgeable, he really made the tour enjoyable. A lot of up close and personal interactions with the alligators and other wildlife. Highly recommended if visiting New Orleans.

Airboat Adventures didn't respond privately to the feedback surveys I submitted, so here it goes. A friend and I went on a tour in late April. Our tour guide never introduced himself, so I couldn't tell you his name, but the only fact he shared about alligators/the area/anything related along the 1hr+ tour was that "they got the idea for Princess and the Frog here." Everything else he shared on the tour was somehow unrelated or personal (like at the end, when he took us out somewhere and said "this all used to be my daddy's land"). Most of the time he spent talking about how much he works, how much he hates his job, and how he wants to quit so bad (referring to being an alligator airboat tour guide). He also seemed to know another group of passengers on the boat. He sat them in the front and talked to them about 90% of the time, catching up on family and friends and talking about being drinking buddies 15+ years ago. Three groups total on the boat; us and the row behind us were largely ignored. When we did see alligators, our tour guide just brought our boat next to another guide's boat, and the other guide, Tik Tok, who seemed fun and really engaged with his passengers, gave a good show. But that was literally the only good part. Go somewhere else for airboat tours, too inconsistent in quality of tours.

LOVED our tour!! We had such a great time! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable with being a 5th generation fisherman in the area. When we had questions, he knew the answers! He also never let us stop laughing. We were able to see a few gators on our tour but the beauty of the trees, birds, and other views made the tour even better!

It was a great experience! Our tour guide Danny did a great job driving us thru the bayou. He explained the history of the swamp, the flora and fauna, and even kissed a gator!! Definitely recommend. We did the 2 hour tour on the slower boat and it was still really fun. If I were to do it again I would definitely recommend the speedboat. It's a fair bit more expensive but worth it.

Fun hour+ ride. Found a big gator right away and a younger guy "hanging out with him". They played tag. Saw a female later. I wouldn't recommend going out at high noon. It was hot.

We just took a privateish small boat tour There was 6 of us and 4 other folks for a total of 10 and qe had the BEST time. Kentucky, Indiana and Texas IN THA HOUSE! OUR tour guy was awesome! He called the gators in French and they ACTUALLY came swimming straight to the boat. We seen a total of 6 gators at various intervals during our trip which was the highlight. We also seen a rare purple bird that our guide was over the moon about. The ones with the chicken feet and duck bill. Parking was great, they have a bathroom in doors and booze while you wait.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY it is the most dishonest and disorganized organization in the city. As we were on the bus heading to the dock they called to say that our group of 4 needed to be split up. Their excuse was that we were the last party to book the day before. There were a multitude of solutions they could have offered: 1) told us when we booked that we possibly could have been separated. 2) called us BEFORE we got on the bus to tell us the situation and ASKED us if we wanted a refund. Clearly they knew that if they called while we were on the bus it would be too tough to cancel. The two women at the desk were not helpful at all. There were definitely other combinations of solutions to keep our party of 4 together. In addition to this upset there was tons of chaos in boarding the boat. I would look for ANY OTHER operation before you book with AIRBOAT ADVENTURES If I could give 0 - I would.

Very nice tour. Takes @ an hour and forty five minutes. They recommend you not take the airboat if you have back or neck injuries... I have both so I rode the pontoon. It was cool and had handicap access. Facilities were good and equipment was well maintained... all boats started immediately... if you are a boater you know that's impressive. The guide was an excellent boat handler... I know because I am a horrible boat handler and he didn't do any of the stupid stuff I do. Aside from stunning scenery we saw a variety of wildlife including gators, pelicans, various and sundry birds and a bald eagle looking all majestic. I was pretty pleased. Booked thru viator with no issues. Good value for the money

Amazing, must do stop when in New Orleans. Bourbon Street hotel pickup and drop off was incredibly convenient and affordable. It was nice to see various parts of Nola on the drive out to the launch bay. The driver pointed out a really old cool tree along the way. Once we arrived, we made our way into the store to use the facilities and observe the albino alligator, which I'm not going to lie: kinda freaked me out. I mean, it's awesome. It's just so intense looking! They have drinks, snacks & merch available. We were then directed up to the dock where they have more restrooms & beverages available. Once we boarded our airboat, our awesome captain gave us optional ear protection took us out into the swamp. I loved the adrenaline rush of gilding over the water. It drizzled on us a little and I was sure glad I had brought layers. We got to see owls, cranes, alligators, and more! The swamp ambiance is simply gorgeous. The cemetery was also very cool. I highly recommend this tour!

Recommended by friends I'm so glad I got to do this on the first day I arrived. We were blessed by beautiful weather and therefore the alligators! You check in at the gift shop in front where you can buy all the typical gator souvenirs. They have different options. We chose the high speed boat for $89 which included transportation to and from our hotel which was about a half an hour drive. Such a great experience to see the wild life and swamp of Louisiana. It gives you a sense of the geography to be in the bayou which eventually leads to the Gulf. We got to see egrets, cormorants, barn owls and lots of alligators of all sizes! Our driver and guide was great! Full of fun facts, a sense of humor, and an accent which reminded me of Matthew McConaughey. Sorry I didn't catch his name! Highly recommend this!!

Ask the Community - Airboat Adventures

Does the boat dock have a handicapped ramp or similar for old folks on walkers or a sturdy ramp for wheelchair bound folks?

There are ramps and accommodations throughout the area. I did see a man in a wheelchair have to switch the boat for his tour from an air boat to a pontoon boat. The airboats have individual seats and I’m not sure they allow wheelchairs. If a… Read more

I was on the pontoon, and it was smooth sailing.

Can you get an uber pick up from this area?

I have been researching airboat tours in New Orleans, and from what I gather, it is easy to get an Uber to take riders out to the swamp tours, but it is much more difficult to get one to come back for passengers. Airboat Adventures does pickup in… Read more

They handled it quickly, but it did make me a little uncomfortable not having the usual safety and tracking features you get when booking a rideshare yourself. With that much notice, I was a bit disappointed they hadn't better planned for hotel pick-ups. Once we arrived (with about five minutes to spare), everything turned around. Our guide, Steven, was fantastic -- you could tell he grew up in the area and genuinely cared about the wildlife and the swamp. He shared so many interesting facts about the habitat, trees, and animals that I never knew before. We did the 6-person airboat and it was awesome! Some people might find the wind a little cool, but I thought it was refreshing -- sun on your face, wind in your hair, and gorgeous views all around. We saw alligators and raccoons, and the old trees in the area were incredible. I had read that you might get wet or muddy, but we didn't have any issues. I'd still recommend closed-toe shoes, just in case. We brought rain jackets and water-resistant clothes, but it wasn't really needed since it didn't rain. Boarding and getting off the boat was from a deck, so no mud at all. Overall, the tour was absolutely worth it -- great price, great experience, and an amazing guide. Despite the hiccup with the pick-up, I'd definitely recommend this tour!
