Cake Hope & Love is such a lovely cake shop. Nestled in a cute little nook of shops, the shop is warm, welcoming, and sweet. The moment you step through the door you are met with a welcoming smile and "hello"! As you step in the smell of sweet treats completely surround you. The atmosphere is fun and bright, perfect for all the confections they make. I had come across cake, hope, love while searching for shop that does custom cakes. I had spoken with them about custom fairy cakes for a birthday. They were very helpful and super accommodating. I can't tell you how many times I kept adding special requests for the order, but despite all of that, they were always so kind and so understanding. The cakes turned out fantastic! They were exactly what I was hoping for. When you are putting in your custom order they ask how you would like your cake to look, sending them pictures for cake ideas is helpful. They sincerely want your experience to be a good one, and because of that, they are thorough in the quality of each order. The cakes were a hit and so delicious. I have a weakness for cake, and sweet eats, and the strawberry cake I ordered probably saw more of me than anyone else. Lol, it was worth it! The cakes were delicious and satisfying, and the designs turned out fantastic. They took the right amount of time and care in curating two very amazing cakes. They offer other goodies and treats in their shop if you aren't looking for a custom cake, and they are on doordash too. I have to say I am very disappointed in your business practices. I messaged the page on Saturday 12/12 trying to get some sort of resolution but though my message was recieved & read, it was never acknowledged. I contacted the store via messenger on 12/10 asking about the gingerbread kits. Someone did contact me back & gave me a price of $10 each. I responded asking to reserve 3. On 12/12 my sister went to pick up the kits only for my name not to be on the list, only 2 gingerbread kits available, & charged twice the price as I was told. I was highly disappointed in what little holiday decoration was included in the kits for $20. Also they didn't taste that great, more like a sugar cookie then a gingerbread. I was even more upset that I had a child without a kit. We made due but it wasn't what I had intended. I have reached out to your company with no response. I am now forced to leave a negative review as I do not want anyone else to be led astray of as I was. I realize it is the holidays & we are in a pandemic. Both reasons why I was trying to buy local. Wonderful local bakery. Our go to place for special occasions. From my retirement cake when I retired from the USAF to birthdays. Or, hell, Friday when we felt like doing something nice for the kids. One word of caution: they are a locally owned bakery. Their quality is outstanding and the demand for services matches that quality. Make sure to place orders in a timely manner. They have always tried to accommodate us but during peak seasons (holidays, prom, etc.) we found that we have had to go elsewhere when we found we didn't take the calendar into account. This isn't a reflection of CH&L's commitment to the customer. It is a direct reflection of their commitment to quality and their desire to create the best quality product each and every time. Again, amazing bakery and I can't say enough good about their product. I really liked coming here for their cupcakes, so I decided to use them for my daughter's first birthday cake. Got in touch with them via FB and their response time was crazy quick. Sent over the inspiration of an ombre cake of pink fading to pale yellow. Key word pale. All of this was stated in the messages AND on the invoice. The party was at noon and I was unaware that they opened fairly late at 11 but that's my fault for not checking, so my dad went and picked it up. What I got was NOT what I wanted. There was no ombre. Just 3 separate colors. The whole party was centered around a pink and pale yellow. Well I got highlighter yellow. There were marks in the cake where it should be smooth. The two tiers weren't even centered. I could have diyed a cake and it turn out just as well. And save $100. So after some prompting from family members, I messaged them on FB before writing a review. They read it 24 hours later and no response. Before when I was a prospective client, they responded within the hour. Pity. I really did like their cupcakes. read more

We ordered a cake from this place since my bank is right next store. After looking at their website and seeing the wait list for cakes we thought this was the place to get a cake. Unfortunately, this was not what we expected. We ordered a cake for our family who was visiting. The cake looked amazing but was the driest fresh cake we have ordered. The frosting, or lack of, did not add any freshness or flavor that could save this. They offered us a free dozen of cupcakes, but when we went to pick up some, another woman was working (I think the owner) and made us feel quite uncomfortable and justify what was told to us. Overall, it led me to the Yelp! line "I've experienced better." I hope thank take this to heart and work toward maybe offering a full refund or another fresh cake. read more

Shannon and her team created an AWESOME Boba Fett helmet cake for my husband's surprise birthday party this past weekend. It looked and tasted fantastic - everyone loved it! The quoting process was quick and easy, and I was fortunate to be able to have my cake made with a week's notice. BUT - you must watch their order schedule! It's a small shop, but they have no shortage of requests. If you have a wedding or special event coming up, I would recommend you contact them as early as possible. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get a cool, "Cake Wars"-quality, custom cake at such a reasonable price. For $60, the dome-shaped cake fed about 18 people. (Moderately sliced.) The shop is tucked away in what used to be Bellfair Shops in Beavercreek, on the corner of Lantz and North Fairfield roads. Pop in for a visit - they have different cupcakes available each day. Also, be sure to visit their website to see some of the other gorgeous cakes and creative "cuppies" they have designed. I have been to Cake, Hope and Love many many times and my negative review is not for disliking their cupcakes. I don't think they're the best around, but they're pretty good. I've ordered them for work functions, for birthdays and just because. My issue is that for a long time, they would advertise on their Facebook page things like "BOGO cupcakes for the rest of the day" or something like that. So I'd go in and they'd try and charge me full price (this happened a few times) and I'd have to show them the advertisement. I just don't think that is good business. Along those same lines, for Christmas one year, they offered free cupcakes to people who bought Christmas presents for children in need. Obviously, I didn't buy a gift for the free cupcake, but when I delivered my gift, nothing was offered-- I certainly wasn't going to ask for the free cupcake, but again-- I felt they lacked follow through and with so many cupcake places around, I would just as soon go else where in the future. read more

This bakery is darling. It's tucked inside a cute little shopping center off North Fairfield Road, and if you blink you may miss it. Once inside you are surrounded with the sweet smells of yumminess. I've never written a bad review in my life, but I feel as though I can not let this one slide. I ordered a cake for my sister's bridal shower. I sent them a reference photo, asking for a simple white cake, with a gold drip. Or what I thought was simple. I had multiple emails not responded to when it came time to pay my balance, when I wanted to apply a gift card that I had. I had to go into the store in order just to get the cake paid for. Fine, not ideal, but not a big deal. My husband goes to pick up the cake around noon, when they close at 2, and the cake has not been decorated yet. They tell him it would be ready in 10-12 minutes. He comes back 20 minutes later, and still not done. He finally gets the cake around 1 o'clock. God bless my husband, but if I would have been there to see that cake, I would not have brought it home and would have immediately asked for a refund. The first photo I have posted was the reference photo that I gave them. The next four photos are photos of the cake that I paid $75 for. I emailed them, and they responded that if I brought the cake back, they would redo it. We took this option, and let me say, I'm still embarrassed of the end result, and definitely did not feel that my $75 was well spent. I also wasn't offered any type of refund for all of the trouble that I had to go through to get this mediocre result of a cake. The last photos I've attached were the end result. You could also see spots of the red velvet cake where the batter had not been fully mixed. I'm very sad to say that we will not ever be using this bakery again, which is sad because they did a beautiful job with our wedding cake. I visited Cake, Hope and Love a few days ago for the 1st time. The shop is cute, and the owner was very nice. But this review is about the cupcakes. I was doing a taste test between CH&L and 2 other very close bakeries to determine which bakery to go with for an upcoming party. I told the owner that I wanted just a plain vanilla cake with buttercream icing. They didn't have it. Instead, the owner gave me 3 of the flavors they had that day. The 1st was Honey Almond. The cake was dense. I prefer a lighter cake. The Almond icing was overpowering and SWEET. The second was Coconut Lemon. The lemon cake was good, but again it was dense. The icing again was very sweet. The 3rd was Buckeye. It was good. The cake again was dense and the icing very sweet. But it was good. While I was there a group of girls came in also doing a taste test. They also wanted just plain vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. If you want Unique flavors this is the place for you. To the owners: Please have plain vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with plain butter cream icing for people that don't want off the different flavors. Sometimes simple is best. read more

The girl I spoke to seemed like she just wanted to get off the phone and wasn't very willing to help. Telling me 'she wasn't familiar with their website and didn't know if I could find their email on there'. She just wanted to rattle off the email and get me off the phone. As I've said previously, all my bridal shower cakes were from here, my wedding cake, my baby shower cake and any cake we've ever ordered. I've never felt the need to go anywhere but here for cakes. Until today. I will no longer be a CH&L client as when I called today because the email response I got in regards to my question was short and didn't even answer my question. Today is my daughter's "Super Sweet 10th birthday" and no there won't be anything MTV worthy at her party. LOL! I usually order from The Cakery or Ele (Taste of Elegance) but wanted to try something different. She told me "Mom, I want strawberry and pink lemonade cupcakes instead of a birthday cake this year". I checked my email and noticed I have a Groupon for a place called "Cake Hope & Love" for a dozen cupcakes. I check their website out and see they have STRAWBERRY and PINK LEMONADE cupcakes! I placed an order in May for a "baby shark" theme smash cake and 2 dozen cupcakes to match in funfetti for pick-up on Saturday, July 6th. A couple of weeks before the event, I emailed to confirm the pick-up date and time - 1st email: no response, 2nd email: no response, 3rd email: no response, 4th email: no response. I called the week of and confirmed the order and pick-up time for exactly 11am, emphasizing that the party was soon after that so I needed it to be ready, the order was read back off to me and they confirmed that it would be ready. I showed up at exactly 11am and the gate was locked. Phone was answered the second time I called; they didn't have their key and had to go find a key from another business close by. I make it inside, Rachel grabs the cake and sits it on the counter in front of me. Immediately I notice a large bug crawling on one of the toppers. She yanks the topper off (messing up the frosting on the top of the cake), flicks the bug off and then asks what I want her to do with it. The person that makes the topper isn't there, so there's nothing they can do about it. His name was also crooked on the cake and the shark was missing the black pupil in one eye. Then they tell me the cupcakes aren't ready - they have to finish them up. By this time it's like 11:15 and I need to get to my child's party to set-up everything. They bring out the cupcakes and they are definitely not what I ordered. 10 cupcakes are chocolate, 14 are vanilla (who orders cupcakes like that? so hap-hazard). There are small dollops of white frosting on top and a pinch of sprinkles - consistency was way off, on some the cake stopped half way up the wrapper on others it leveled at the top. All while Rachel is telling me that she doesn't know what happened because she didn't work on my order and that she would let the owners know and they would reach out to me. I didn't have time to deal with straightening out all the issues with my order as I had my son's 1st birthday party to attend. I sent a quick message to the owners on Facebook stating that Rachel told me she would let them know the numerous issues with my order and gave them a contact number to reach out to me. I sent that on Saturday as I pulled out of their parking lot. The business has since added multiple posts to social media accounts, but have not reached out to me. I do not recommend this business. If you want to take your chances on popping in and picking up a cupcake or other dessert from their counter that is already made, go ahead - but that was the same counter my cake was sitting on that had a bug crawling on the topper. I would never place an order for an event like a wedding or important birthday, they just don't have it together. read more

I've lived down the road from this place for a few years, but it took me a while to finally discover this hidden gem and all the deliciousness it has to offer. But trust me, I will NEVER forget that first cupcake I had: a raspberry-filled red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. My goodness, it is without a doubt THE MOST scrumptious confection I've ever had the pleasure of scarfing down. That cupcake alone had me sold on this entire place. First of all, when you walk in the door prepare to be knocked off your feet by the most DELICIOUS aroma of cake-baking goodness. It gets me every time. :) The decor in here is really cute, and the girls working are always super friendly (and patient, which is good because it takes me forever to pick a cupcake from their daily selection). Overall this is nice place to order from. Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars was because when I ordered my cake they didn't listen to any instructions. I wanted the fondant yellow and I got my entire cake green. It was for a 21st birthday and they put the number 8? And I wanted only vanilla flavored cake and got vanilla and chocolate. Which was sort of a win win for me because I like chocolate, but the birthday guy absolutely hates it. So it would have been nice if they listened to what I wanted for my order.
