Beautiful and delicious cake We had a vacation planned to Oahu to celebrate my daughters bday, and she wanted a cute heart cake. I wanted to find a local bakery to support and found @damdukbakery on IG. Her cakes looked amazing and she was very responsive and helpful. The pickup was easy and everyone loved the cake. I would definitely recommend supporting this local business.

I'm not…read moresure how this bake shop wound up in rural north Alabama, but Christine's is the real deal! Open only Wednesday - Saturday during the day, Christine serves up mostly baked goods. She does also offer some soups as well as wurst and currywurst! Be advised that you generally have to order ahead for any kind of bread or brotchen. We sampled pretty much everything she had to offer in the late afternoon. Plum, cherry, and blueberry coffee cake as well as bienenstich (beesting cake). My mother, who grew up in the German ward of St. Louis and is from a German family, was overjoyed, as she was taken right back to her childhood. Perfectly crumbly, buttery crumb cakes with fresh fruits -- they were all delicious, but the plum was the best. I had a slice of bienenstich, which is a cake filled with vanilla custard/cream and topped with caramelized almonds. The cream was so mild and airy and paired perfectly with the crunchy, sweet almond topping. The owner and baker -- who I can only presume is Christine -- was there and she spoke to us about her life in Germany and how she has been running her bakery here for 20 years (she started at around age 40, by the way!) She had a talent for being available when we needed her and hanging back when we wanted "us" time. She was a joy and we loved talking with her. I'll absolutely order some bread in the future and make the drive out. It'll be great to see Christine again! If you're looking for a road trip out of Huntsville -- this is one not to miss.

I didn't expect it to be half full when I went in with only one car outside, it must be a local favorite. The menu has not only classics but some interesting twists too. We were told to grab a menu and sit anywhere we wanted. Then once you know your order you place it at the counter & pay. I got the breakfast Panini with avocado added. My husband got a half chicken salad salad and a glorified grilled cheese. We also got a pretzel salad to try. Portion sizes were great, the food was delicious and inventive. I loved the ginger citrus dressing that was for the salad, I even asked them where it was from. We were told they make it in house. The pork in the grilled cheese tasted so fresh & flavorful. They also gave us water cups & their water is good ( must be filtered) We will definitely be back. Also a plus, they are open earlier then a lot of other eating establishments.

The girl who took our order was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick from the moment we walked in. I ordered Dad's Egg Sandwich, and Mom got the Vegetable Frittata. The bacon on my sandwich was the standout--nice, thick, and perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that the menu mentioned garlic, but I honestly couldn't taste any. If you're going to promise garlic, I want to taste garlic! Mom really enjoyed her frittata, although I think she's getting a little tired of egg dishes lately. She especially loved the toast and whatever butter they served with it. It almost tasted like maple butter, and it was delicious. The fresh fruit was also excellent (I happily finished Mom's!). My only real complaint is the size of the restaurant. It's a cozy space, but I can see it getting crowded very quickly during the breakfast rush. Overall, everything was wonderful. Friendly staff, fast service, and a delicious breakfast. We'll definitely be back!

The interior is still clean and feels thoughtfully designed, so despite its small/moderate size everyone can find a spot that feels "right" for their needs. I've come to socialize with friends and also to read/write and regardless of the presence of other guests, I always feel the right amount of privacy and quiet. There are a few new touches that make it feel even cozier and homier, such as their choice of background noise/music (often, you can hear Bob Ross painting softly on one of the tvs) and art. There are also a few activities for kids to do, like coloring sheets. The owners themselves can often be found working behind the counter and have always treated me with warmth and courtesy. They're a younger couple who are obviously working hard to figure out ways to improve the business. I've enjoyed using my punch card. :) Their coffee is delicious and they are regularly dreaming up new flavor combinations for the season. My favorites in the past few months have been their banana pudding matcha and, currently, their latte made with fresh figs. It's so incredibly well-balanced and delicious! The syrups are made in house and it shows. They also offer a variety of freshly baked pastries; I finally tried one (a pumpkin spice scone) and it was also delightful! Perfect texture and the extra sweetness from the glaze gave it a great punch of flavor. I encourage all Cove and OXR residents to try this business if they haven't already, or try again if you went prior to the re-opening. It's honestly worth a drive from elsewhere in the city if you're a coffee connoisseur. I'm so happy to have this place and look forward to many more visits. :)

Walking inside on Saturday around 8:15, there weren't many customers. I walked up to the counter and ordered Dave the All American Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar biscuit and potatoes. I ordered the Southwest Omelette with sausage, green peppers, onions, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes and a side of potatoes and toast. All American. Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar biscuit, and potatoes was Dave's order. The cheddar biscuit was nearly the size of my hand. Easily 2.5 times larger than average biscuits. My former manager, Jimmy Randolph, told me years ago that his mother made cat head biscuits. The biscuit was at least the size of a cat's head. The cheddar biscuit was delicious. Dave said everything about his order except the potatoes was ok. He is a simple man who does not want green peppers, onions or anything else cooked with his potatoes. As soon as he saw the add ons to his side of potatoes, he had a grumpy look. He refused to eat said add ons. He said he wouldn't order a side of potatoes again. 3/5 My Southwest Omelette and potatoes was average. The omelette was cooked too much. It was dry. There wasn't enough cheese in my humble opinion. The potatoes were ok. The potatoes were boiled with no crisp edges. I prefer crispy potatoes. I did eat the add ons. They were flavorful. 3/5 The menu lists breakfast potatoes. No description of additional bell peppers and onions added. I bought a few petit fours. Two vanilla and two chocolate for $8. They were beautifully decorated and tasted good. They were not the best I have had but not the worst. 4/5 I will return to Edgar's. They have many bakery items to select from. If you have a need for a fast birthday cake or any dessert, they have it. Please stop by and try their desserts. You will enjoy them. 4/5

The young person (woman) decided to help me, she was silent (didnt speak a courteous word.) I was asking about the Easter cupcakes, she simply demanded "which ones do you want". She then proceeded to put the selected cupcakes in a carry out vessel and crushed the lovely icing into the top of the clamshell. She never even slowed down to see what she did. She then went away for several minutes while I was trying to checkout without cupcakes. Once the first (helper???) actually brought the cupcakes the checkout person turned them on their side. This causes the icing to just slide off of the top of their respective cupcakes. So basically, Edgar ruined my wifes Easter surprise. I won't visit this business ag!
