I can't tell you how many contractors we have used in the past that simply don't show up, overcharge by factors 2 or 3 times the going rate, or simply just "drop off" once a project gets started. If you are wanting to avoid this, go with Nu Flooring. They are worth every penny. As a special thank you and recognition for Antonio, I am including the extra mile he went for my wife and I. The long story short, is my wife and I wanted new flooring throughout the majority of our house (~2200 sq ft). We chose a product we were happy with and Antonio quickly finished the job. Unfortunately, the product had a defect that caused a "crackle/snapping" sound when stepped on. While most contractors would have cut loose and ran, Antonio stayed and helped us navigate the entire warranty process. Keep in mind, this process took numerous months to complete with dozens of hoops to jump through. Never during the entire time did Antonio ignore my call or give up on our project. In the end, the warranty was approved and his team laid down our entire house once again. As expected, the floor came out beautifully with no issues what so ever. From budget to timing, Antonio and his team came through just as promised. I can honestly say there are very few contractors that I trust (as I have worked with a lot of them in town). And if you are like me, trust and communication is the highest quality to find when looking to start a project with someone. He arrived on time and was very professional, even advising my wife not to enter the bathroom with our baby while he worked since the dust might affect her. He also closed the bathroom door after he completed the job to stop dust from spreading around our bedroom. I had a terrible experience with JZ Landscaping. I hired them to add cement squares and artificial…read moregrass (that was nice) but also to pour a cement slab for a fireplace. They quoted me $2,700 for the fireplace I wanted, including labor. That was within our budget, so I agreed. After the slab was done, they told me they had miscalculated the cost of materials. I wasn't happy about it, but we decided to move forward. Then, on the day the fireplace kit was supposed to be ordered, mind you this was weeks later because they would not message me back, they came back and said there was another mistake, and the actual cost would be $12,000.( just for the fireplace) They tried to find a similar option for $4,000, but they didn't even give me the dimensions I had to ask and compare them myself to the original fireplace. If I hadn't brought it up, they wouldn't have mentioned it. Had I known the true cost from the beginning, I never would have agreed to the cement slab (which wasn't cheap either). There was no professionalism, and they didn't take responsibility for their mistakes, not once, but three times. They didn't offer any sort of discount, and the last thing Johnathan said to me was, "Good luck with your backyard." If you choose to work with them, I strongly recommend signing a contract that holds them accountable for any price differences if they misquote you, especially if that part of the project is essential to completing the whole thing. Have a contacting license means nothing nowadays.
