i've walked by this place so many times but never headed in. one afternoon, I wanted to take my son on a little ice cream date and decided to stop by Cal Oaks Pharmacy. i didn't walk around the whole store but there are a lot of knick knacks to purchase. we went straight to the counter and ordered our ice creams. the whole counter was lined with middle high aged kids that seemed to be on friendly terms with the owner. i thought it was so nice they had a place to hang out and have snacks after school! scoops were from fosselmans and the price was right. would recommend if you're in the area. read more

I was in the area for errands several weeks ago and stumbled upon this super cute Pharmacy in the 'City of San Marino,' CA. I came to find out that they carry such cute items such as Morning Glory stationary Aka pens, pencils and notepads. You don't normally find a Pharmacy selling cute stationary?! That and they carry loads of various items here to choose from. I have included a ton of pics below for browsing. I bought me a dream catcher because that is one item I still don't have as wall decoration. Customer Service was topnotch as the cashier was funny and efficient. The dream catcher I bought was $7.77 exactly after taxes. He was like, 'oooh your lucky day.' If I was in the area again, I'd stop by this pharmacy to shop. They also use super cute decorations such as M&M statue and Coca Cola brand of decorations all over the front side of the pharmacy. read more

Cute little old-fashioned pharmacy with a gift shop and a soda pop foundtain snack bar and ice creams bar, an all-in-one place!! The owner is super nice and friendly, he answered all the random questions about the products, and being they carried such wide range of products- medical supply, beauty products, gifts, fashion jewelry, PPE, holiday decor, cute school supplies- my questions were all over the place.... Sadly, the covid made a major impact on this business too, the snack bar was filled with kids' laughs in the afternoons before covid, the shop was busy with people shopping for unique gift items, but it is all quiet now. They are offering delivery services for prescription refills! please help them spread the word and let's help keep a local business, independent pharmacy survive!!! With the need to buy an oxygen meter and I.R. thermometer, most of the major drug stores ran out weeks ago, but this Oasis among drug stores had everything we needed and in a quiet and uncrowded environment. The service was excellent and the price reasonable compared to other stores. Did I mention ice cream fountain? Even if you're not seeking medicine or devices, there is a happy moment to be had here as well, with many Mother's Day greetings and Graduate items to celebrate with. It's a rather large drug store and was packed with everything a person would need in the form of celebration, illness or just plain decorations. I came here to get the covid booster vaccine yesterday, it was super fast, and painless. I'm super surprised I thought it'd be more difficult. I'm super grateful they offer it here and I was able to review, their pharmacist who administers has a very light touch so it was less painful compared to where I got my previous covid shots last year. Happy National Ice Cream Day - July 19th!!! Free scoop of ice cream with Yelp Check in :) They were opened at 2pm, and I got there around 330pm, and it was a bit stuffy in there. While waiting for ice cream service, I took some pics and was sweating a bit in there, eeek! With this crazy ass weather, the AC woulda been nice to have on. I got the Coffee and Cookies ice cream - they carry the Fosselman ice cream brand. Cold, rich and creamy - perfect for this hot day :) Also, I noticed that the right side of the ice cream sections - See Part 3 of ice cream pics - caters more to the adults - a lot of coffee flavors ice cream, lol!!! Service was nice and fast. I got to sample the ice cream before making my decision - Salty Caramel wasn't a favorite - I like it better as a macaron, lol! As for the place itself, it's super adorable with its 50s ice cream shop motif. They also have hot dogs, sundaes too! The other section of the shop is a pharmacy - very clean, bright and helpful staff members. Will be coming back another time. read more

I always find what I'm looking for at Cal Oaks. They carry all needs for anything that ails you, Gel Packs, Back Supports, Canes ,Walkers to name a few. They have beautiful card selections and gifts which is a great idea. I've bought many essential needs there. The Best In Town!!! This is the second time I've come to this pharmacy and I must say its the best. The environment is amazing. Its fresh, clean and has everything you need. Be sides having a pharmacy, it has its own snack bar. Although they don't have variety. They have hot dogs, and ice cream. The guy who serves is very helpful and friendly. My boyfriend and I chose to eat a hot dog here and he kept checking on us constantly to make sure we were doing fine. I definitely recommend anyone in the neighborhood to come here. This Pharmacy located in Pasadena on California Street used to have very caring staff that really cared about patients. The San Marino Location is even worse, the staff is rude the manager Jonathan Kim is totally rude and does not want to be bothered with any type of patient assistance with regard to RX medications. The San Marino Location is even worse than the Pasadena Location which is Chaotic, rude and they lose electronic prescrptions and their staff is totally rude never ansnwers the phone and some patients lke me have has open heart surgery and rely and their cardiac medication. I had to call my doctor on Saturday to have my heart medication resent to Rite Aid in Glendale and Rite Aid was apologic for the unprofessional conduct I received from Cal Oaks Pharmacy and Cal Oaks III after an Aortic Valve Heart Replacement surgery. Rite Said they saw the RX medication sent to Cal Oaks and said their pharmacy did not want to be bothered to locate it. Jonathan Kim at the San Marino Location did not want to be bothered to find out how the RX was lost when it was sent electronically. My doctor had to send a new RX on a Saturday electronicaly to Rite Aid. Going Fordward, my doctor is sending my prescriptions to AMAZON Pharmacy online and the medication will be delivered the next day to my home. I would not recommend these two pharmacies to a dying heart patient. People with serious medical conditions should not have to deal with this unprofessional conduct. read more

I went in last week to this sister location and was treated equally amazing-I thought that service would differ from location but if there is one thing these guys are good at is their customer service. They truly work with their hearts and I could T be more grateful. The pharmacists, Gin, took her time and answered all our questions. Fantastic people, fast service, good fun shop and efficient pharmacy. Too bad the big two chains can't follow these strengths.

I came here for compounded medications due to a recommendation from the doctor's office for my baby. During the 3 times I had a prescription filled, each time there was at least one error with the medication. From not finding our medication (even after we were told it was ready there) to not remembering to add flavoring (which is critical with kids!), it's been a mess. For some reason there was a time the medication was at the other Cal Oaks location by Huntington Hospital. They asked me if I filled it there by mistake. Nope... I've only gone to the San Marino location and that's the only phone number I called for the past 2 refills. Sigh. What a bummer. They were in such a convenient location for me. The entire experience was extremely frustating. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because the clerks there were nice although the pharmacy was a let down. read more

I love this cute little gem of a place. It's very easy to pass since it is located on the busy Hunrintong Drive... But it is the cutest little shop/pharmacy and the prices are great! Super cute place. The owner is the most professional, accommodating guy I have ever met. I want to learn from him! Seriously, the man knows customer service and I have always felt welcome in this store. I've stopped by a few times with my mom after Lunch at Fresh Gourmet next door and on my own for scoops of Fosselmans. The store has tons of cute little trinkets along with basic medical supplies. The pharmacist was very helpful. I needed to fill a compound medication and she was very accommodating. She was very patient and willing to help me with what I needed. Eventually, I was able to fill the Rx at the other Cal Oaks pharmacy and had the medication transferred to this location for pick up. We need a pharmacy in San Marino, and I hope Cal Oaks III does well and stays here. I'm not sure everyone in town knows they are here. Maybe an ad in the Tribune?? Good parking in back, friendly and helpful people, convenient location instead of driving north to one of the big chains. The pharmacy could consider less floor space and fewer extra items like jewelry. Unfortunately, when the other pharmacy closed, everyone had to go somewhere else for prescriptions, and it's a nuisance to transfer again to a closer pharmacy. read more
