Had breakfast here for the first time and I absolutely loved everything about this cute little cafe. They serve a variety of dishes that are generously portioned. Our favorite was their blueberry French toast and huevo rancheros. The cherry on top was the service. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The background music was just right for a beautiful Sunday morning. They have an outdoor patio as well and parking is plenty. Definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Amazing find. I must've passed this place a million times but never noticed it. I'm glad my sister recommended it for our sister date. Decent prices, delicious food and coffee, and a super friendly staff. Definitely try the blueberry French toast. It was my favorite part.

    Overcooked "poached" eggs Benedict

This is different than my usual reviews, as I'd much rather elevate businesses and support their growth rather than point out the negatives. But this one deserves a bit more detail for the 3 stars. We came here at my husband's cravings for eggs Benedict for his birthday brunch. It was a Saturday around 1PM. There were crowds, but it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy. I will say they seemed well staffed, which made service feel prompt and welcomed. Everyone in the team appeared friendly. The person who made our lattes also made an effort to clarify our order (lattes with Oatmilk with cream foam - which u know can be confusing. I'm giving up whole milk for the fats and lactose, but a little bit of cream won't hurt). We chose Mari Vees over other nearby spots mainly because of the style and ambiance, which truly delivered... beautiful, modern, and inviting on Yelp. We ordered the iced Spanish latte, iced matcha latte, classic eggs Benedict, and chilaquiles with beef. As soon as the plates landed on our table, before we even had a chance to taste anything, a well-dressed gentleman (who seemed more senior than the rest of the staff) came over and asked how everything was. We felt compelled to give the automatic "everything is good." To be fair, the flavors did hit the spot. The lattes were yummy (and shoutout to the cute aesthetics), the chilaquiles were perfectly savory, and the sauce on the eggs Benedict was rich and creamy. However, the reason this lands at 3 stars is the eggs Benedict itself. The poached eggs were overcooked. Poached eggs should be runny and creamy, not firm. We brought this up to our server, Jeremiah, but he responded that it was "poached hard." I was confused... was that intentional? I checked the menu again (good thing I take pictures), and it simply says "poached eggs." Later, when we were paying, the same gentleman returned, who I inquired and learned goes by the name, Victor. This time, he didn't ask about our experience, but I knew I had to say something. I shared praise along with a lighthearted and humorous question about the overcooked eggs. He admitted they should be runny and said "we should have told them"... BUT WE DID! I debated addressing it in person versus sharing here on Yelp. Unfortunately, it felt like the team wasn't equipped to properly handle feedback. Instead of acknowledging the issue, we felt dismissed and gaslighted. I still gave a 18% tip (our total was $60+) , slight lower than our usual 20%... but I know everyone works hard in there. Overall, it had the potential to be a great experience, but the mishap left a sour note and pretty much ruined our afternoon. Not sure we'll be back.

Eggs made with mainly oil? Flavorless

The service was great and the ambiance was lovely. My waffle was good, they syrup was a highlight, and the berries were sweet and fresh. But everything was made with subpar ingredients. The whipped cream was oil based and not at all delicious. The hot chocolate I ordered was made by a machine, and tasted mostly of water and the aforementioned oily whipped cream. It was cute but not tasty. My eggs seemed fake as well, very oily and bland. My friend ordered an omelet and reported that the sausage tasted odd. The egg was prepared like a tortilla and the long list of vegetables were just slapped inside instead of incorporated into the dish. She ordered a pancake because the omelet was such a disappointment I'm longing for a good pancake place with really butter. This is not the place.

Surprisingly easy to get a walk-in table for our larger group on a Saturday morning during brunch. So props for that. However, taking a star off for the awkward bathroom experience- you have to meander through the kitchen and it's in the back by the dishwasher. Food was okay- my husband liked his big burger. My tomato soup was okay- didn't know if it was house made? And my sister thought the chilaquiles was too soggy.

I had a great time here. The waiters are attentive and I believe that was the business owner who came and check up on my brother and I. The ambiance well they have an inside and an outside place for you to sit. I sat in the inside and it is medium size area. The food was amazing the reviews are accurate. I enjoyed the banana and walnut pancakes and they were so fluffy. My brother got a burrito and it was so packed and a great size burrito. I got some tostada with egg on top. I want to come back for more pancakes and the matcha Oreo was okay. I do want to try their coffee selections.

Of all the food I had in LA during my quick 3-day trip, Mari Vees was my favorite. Charming little restaurant in Pasadena that has that Spanish architecture and aesthetic. Our waitress was very friendly and checked in on us often. I was debating between chilaquiles and the banana walnut pancakes so she suggested I get a single pancake and the chilaquiles. I decided to try chilaquiles for the first time finally! It is something I have wanted to try for a long time but wanted to find a place that specializes in it, and seeing that it was the most photographed entree on yelp, I knew I was in for a treat! It was so good I let out an "mmm" my first few bites. The tortilla chips weren't soggy and retained some crunch despite being drenched in delicious sauce. Love the drizzle of sour cream and I think crumbles of queso fresco on top. The fresh avocado and onion paired perfectly as well, as did the runny egg yolk. If I lived in the area I'd be back all the time. The banana walnut pancake was deliciousss, I absolutely loved the maple butter it came with. There was banana and walnut pieces in the pancake batter as well as on top. So good. Finally, I loved my refreshing Iced Spanish Latte. The cream foam on top with cinnamon gave it a powerful finish. Nice and sweet as I like it thanks to the condensed milk :)

Hubby & I have really been enjoying Mari Vees! Weekend brunch/lunch time can get quite crowded and wait times may be over 30 mins., so just be prepared as they do have a sign-in sheet waitlist that is pretty much first-come-first-serve. Portions here are big & prices are standard/reasonable as any other brunch/lunch place in the area. Both indoor & outdoor seating is available. Restaurant inside is clean and bright. They have a board on the wall with their specials (not sure how often they change). Hubby has enjoyed their "Champ" Burger (comes with a basket of Fries) & Breakfast Burrito (comes with Chips & salsa). I'm a big fan of their Chilaquiles (added beef/steak) because they do a great job soaking the chips in their salsa rojo. (My only small gripe is I wish they had some pickled veggies with it to make it really the best I've ever had, lol). Their Mari Vees Omelet was fluffy & filling, would recommend as well. Hubby really wishes they would have just a pastrami sandwich/burger available from the pastrami of "The Champ!!" burger and I agree. The burger is filling, but can get a little messy. We had bites of just the pastrami and it is *chef's kiss* so we can only imagine if it was on its own in a sandwich that it'd be quite good as well! All the coffee I've tried so far has been good. Their Iced Spanish Latte is refreshing if it's warm out & their Mocha (mix it, even if you ruin the cute foam stamp) is a cinnamon-ey chocolately warm coffee for those chillier days. One unisex restroom available Parking is limited to street parking on Huntington Dr. or nearby neighborhood cross streets (i.e. San Marino Ave.) if you don't mind the walk.

We stopped by for lunch after enjoying Lacy Park. It was an impromptu lunch and we enjoyed it. I liked my huevos rancheros and my partner had the chicken Caesar wrap. This was very delicious.

January 10, 2026 I ordered the eggs Benedict and they were perfectly seasoned...and that's saying something because I've had a lot of eggs Benedict over the years. These were truly stand-out. I will definitely be coming back to try the sizzling fish next time; it smelled and sounded amazing as it came out of the kitchen. Overall, a great experience and worth a return visit.

I was hesitant about this restaurant after I read a few reviews regarding the service and the price. We came for Sunday brunch and there was a little wait. We were served in a couple of minutes. The server showed us the menu and recommended a few popular dishes as this was our first time. When we were ready, the server came and took our order. It was a full house and everyone was busy serving food and taking order. Our coffee came first and it was amazing. I ordered a cafe latte and my daughter ordered an iced latte. Both tasted delicious. I ordered the omelette and my daughter had the classic egg Benedict. Both are amazing. My portion was so big that I had to take half home. Food tasted great, good temperature and fresh. As for the prices, I think most restaurants charge about this price, especially in this surrounding area. We'd love to come back to try their signature pancake and spicy fish taco. More to come!

My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep: the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite. Let's begin this review. Mari Vees is a midsize breakfast/lunch cafe snuggled in the heart of an upper middle class San Marino of SGV. Owned and operated by Mr. Roger Valdez. We came on a first weekend of December to have a bday breakfast. We were seated quickly. Interior design and space layout were modest and a bit restricted, respectively. When the cafe is at full capacity (during weekends) you might feel claustrophobic and inevitably hear other customer's conversation due to the extreme proximity between tables. However, they have some outdoor seats for customers as well. They used to have QR menu on each table and now have paper menu. We had The Mari Vee pancakes ($19) with wild blueberry that comes with a thick, rich warm Maple Butter and a Spanish Omelette. Their Drip coffee and Mocha Latte ($5.50) were great. Prices were competitive. Service was on point. Atmosphere vibe can be relaxing if it's not crowded. Free Street Parking available. Overall, we enjoyed their service, food and hot coffee. I suggest you arrive early morning due to its popularity and to avoid the feeling of being cramped.

11/19/25 I've read great things from Yelp Friends, let's try it!!
    Jennifer W.

11/19/25 It's been a while since Ive been disappointed. Like most would sadly say, "I really wanted to love this place", especially after reading Yelp Friends' reviews. It's a lovely place, a few indoor seating (about 40 ppl) & a handful outdoor seating that is also shared with next door businesses. It's a cute breakfast/brunch space. On a random Wednesday about 11:30 we were seated promptly. Our server, Marielos, greeted us & took our drink orders, regular brewed coffee for me & an almond latte for Hubby. He said he ordered a coffee cake but he didn't receive it, even as he mention it to our server twice. My coffee was decent. Hubby's almond latte looked so cute with the latte art of Stitch, but sadly, it tasted like regular coffee with foam. He tasted it & didn't bother to drink the rest. Got chicken (tenders instead of wings, in hindsight I should've gone with the wings) & waffles, Huevos Rancheros for Hubby. When our food promptly arrived, it was, Wow and then we dug in. Disappointment started to set in (well the latter was the intro). My waffle did not taste freshly made, like it's Leggo heated up, the chicken tender looked a little dark, when I cut it up, it was tough. One dude was a bit rubbery & the other side was hard to pierce through. It tasted spongy. I know i should've mentioned it to our server but I tried to get through it. Now kicking myself for not saying anything but at this point, looking back, it probably wouldn't have mattered. Hubby was not happy with his dish, he said "that was the most unfulfilling Huevos rancheros I ever had". He was really hungry do he ate it anyway. He said to rate it 2.5 stars. On the way out, our server noticed Hubby's latte was barely sipped & asked if she could make another one. I said no, it's alright but she insisted to make up for it. She offered a matcha latte on the house. I buckled because she looked like wanted to make it right. It was made in record time for to go. Instead of almond, I asked for oat milk to see if it would make a difference. Like I mentioned earlier, it probably wouldn't have mattered coz the matcha latte was just okay, it tasted watered down just like Hubby's latte. It is either a heavy heart I rated it a 3 stars, only because the server wanted to make it right in the end but the food & drinks were a bust. Did we just order the wrong things?

I ordered the pandan coconut Vietnamese coffee and WOW... easily a 10/10 for me. It had the perfect level of sweetness, and you could clearly taste the pandan without it overpowering the coffee itself. Everything was super well balanced. My friend got the sea salt Vietnamese coffee. He said it was good, but personally prefers the traditional version without the sea salt. We also shared the HK egg waffle stuffed with Portuguese custard, and this was a standout. The waffle was crispy on the outside, light and hollow inside, and the custard was smooth and just the right amount of sweet. Definitely worth ordering. The space itself is great if you're looking to study or just hang out. It's quiet inside with plenty of tables. There is outdoor seating too, but there were a couple of people smoking when we went, so we stayed inside (which worked out since it was hot anyway). Service was smooth.
