In October of 2022 we had a new roof put on our commercial building. Every year since then our tenants have informed us of leaks. Every year we call. 3-7-2026 Cal Roof went out and fixed the areas where the building still leaks. Unfortunately, we won't know if it is fixed or not until it rains but we do appreciate the service and will update when we can. read more

Cal Roof replaced our roof on 12/12/24. The process went smoothly, and the team finished in three days. They cleaned the surrounding area and property afterward. Although the manager was behind schedule on the first day, they promptly informed us, which we appreciated. After completion, we found several issues: broken garage panels, a missing attic panel, and exposed porch nails. We told the manager when he picked up the check. He called them 'just cosmetic' but said his team would fix them. No one came until I followed up, and repairs were finished on May 30, 2025, including replacing damaged wood on the porch and garage. About three months later (August 2025), brown stains appeared on the porch ceiling. When it rained, brown water poured from the gutters. I contacted the manager again, but he did not respond. The next week, a team member came while we were not home and painted over the porch wood, but this did not fix the stains or the underlying problem. Overall, the initial process and communication would be a 5/5, but the quality of the work and follow-through would be closer to a 3/5. read more

UPDATE: Since my initial review, the company sent a roofer back to fix some of the areas of concern. They also sent someone to clean up the DG, unfortunately, it's something where prevention is the only cure. Roof debris is simply a part of our DG now. I appreciate the company coming back to try to make it right. We got 5 quotes before choosing Cal Roof. My husband really liked Doug and trusted his expertise. The overall quality of the roof only time will tell, but demo was a disaster. The guys were unprofessional and did a terrible job protecting our landscape. We had DG installed in the last month and they destroyed it. It is littered with roof debris. We gave the company the opportunity to make it right, they didn't show up when they said they would, then re-scheduled and didn't show for that. It would be impossible to clean the DG fully, it's become completely mixed with the dirt. I had to go around collecting screws they dropped all over the property including a couple that ended up piercing through my kids shoes. I would have picked a different company had I known demo would have been that terribly managed. read more

Great experience with Cal Roof. Had a leak in my roof and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Had a few other contractors come out and they just told me I needed to have the entire roof redone. House is only about 14 years old so was pretty bummed. Cal Roof came and did what the others didn't, they pulled up the tiles and said the paper was still in good condition but they found a small tear which was right where the leak was. They quickly patched it and my leak is fixed! Nice to work with such a honest and professional company. We contacted 5 roofing companies for quotes and Cal Roof responded immediately with a proposal including Ariel pictures of our roof. They then came out to inspect the roof and walk me through the scope of work including the type and benefits of the shingles they prefer to use. I did a bit of research and the shingles were rated top of the line. Their pricing for the work was very reasonable compared to the other quotes and Doug was very responsive and easy to contact. Doug squeezed us into their work schedule since we were on a tight timeline to install solar. There was rotted wood that needed replacement , yet the final cost was very close to the original estimate. The workers were courteous and cleaned up the property well after the roof was done. The permits and final inspection were turned around quickly and we had sign off the same week that the job was done! I was very impressed with all aspects of working with Cal Roof, and Doug in particular, from the initial estimate to closing out the permits. I highly recommend them! read more

Wow. Stay away from this charlatan. Doug Barry, the owner of this company, assessed the roof leak on my veterinary hospital after having been contacted by my hospital administrator. I am the owner of two veterinary hospitals in San Diego. Doug Barry stated the repair would cost $750.00 on June 1, 2020. My hospital administrator called him weekly for two months to get a written estimate and a date for leak repair. Each week he had various excuses about why we had not received the estimate and or date for repair. After TWO months Doug had still failed to produce an estimate or arrange for repair. He had a myriad of excuses. As the owner of the practice, I became frustrated and called Doug Barry myself. He promised to repair the roof on Sunday but he needed to send invoice first. He promised to send invoice to my email when he returned to the office. No invoice was received. I called him again and received more excuses. He promised to send invoice first thing the next morning. Still no invoice. I texted him again, "Seriously, No estimate again. This is amazing." After lying to me on two separate occasions I finally received an estimate at 1:37 pm. on Tuesday, August 4. I had first called him on Friday July 31. TWO months have elapsed since his first visit to the hospital on June 1, 2020. I texted him, "Lie once, shame on you. Lie twice shame on me. I have called a reputable roofer to assess the situation and give PROMPT estimate for a SPEEDY repair. You cannot believe anything Doug Barry says. I would not let him touch my roof. We compared a bunch of roofing companies and found that CalRoof offered a competitive bid. Not all contactors would work on such tall hard to access building. Once the project was done we figured they where the right choice as they where responsive and did they didn't go over budget. Problems came up like rotten wood and such and they took pictures and explained the situation. They were reasonable and they kept me informed every step of the way of what my options where. They are predictable and reliable and I recommend them. read more

FIVE STARS! Doug Berry and his crew were top notch professionals! From the first meeting for the free estimate to the final meeting and sign off on the job, this company and the owner were wonderful! The pricing was extremely fair and in the same ballpark among the other estimates we got from other companies. We chose to go with Doug because of his honesty and knowledge about the job and the product he uses. The crew showed up early every morning and worked a full day, every day until the job was done. They were clean and considerate throughout all phases of the work. The product they used to replace our old tar and gravel flat roof has lowered the temperature inside the house by around 10 degrees, as well, which is amazing and is performing exactly as Doug said it would, and the roof leak and rotted wood we formerly had from the old roof is now GONE! Doug and his crew really went above and beyond our expectations and that was just their normal business practice - we didn't have to ask them for anything, they just did everything right as part of their usual daily protocol.
