They cut the major beam and connected it together with a two drive four.

This review is a warning to those who are considering using elite roofing services, and an advisory to those who have. Elite roofing services came to my house to do a re-paper on my home. They charged me to do the wood repair that they had found and said it was needed and completed the job. Had it not been for another company inspecting my roof and finding out that it was collapsing would I have known any of the following story was happening. Upon further inspection we found that the roof was collapsing and had to remove the tiles. during the process of removing the tiles we exposed the work done by elite roofing services, it was found that they did not do the work we had paid them for, the roof wood that was supposedly replaced was not and much of the roof was still rotted. They put new paper over old paper when the old paper was removed major wood damage was found. It's at this point I realized that elite roofing services has completely ripped me off and done almost nothing and charged me a large amount of money. They cut major beams and propped them up with two by fours to make the roof look flat (see pictures) panel after panel that was inspected was rotted. We found no wood replaced and that was $8000 worth of the bill The list of nefarious things they did is too long to list. Let's just say they even reused the old rusty nails. I think that pretty much wraps up how bad it is. As much as I hope this prevents anyone from giving elite Roofing Services new business, I am most concerned with those of you who think he did a good job. Please check your roofs, you may not be safe.

Thank you, John and Elite roofing for doing an AMAZING job. I had an initial consult with John and explained to him that my main issue was energy efficiency and solutions to cool my house down with a unique structure, no attic space, and exposed wood beams inside. John suggested I replace my existing skylights with a version that can open to decompress the heat. Additionally, he suggested a TPO cool roof system that provides for additional deflection of heat. I must say, the results have been great. The house is significantly cooler, by about 7 degrees. And the roof and skylights look beautiful. Couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Very professional, fast, best price of all the quotes I got. Excellent communication, even accommodated a mid project change order. I highly recommend this company

Here is the whole story: I originally installed solar 9 years ago and recently my solar panels hadn't produced as much as they used to. I requested several quotes and had 3 top contenders. Family first rang me up and I immediately had a gut feeling that they were the ones for the job. I bought an Enphase Envoy metered S and a Combiner Box 4 that I purchased directly from Enphase. What does this mean? Basically, I lost the ability to monitor my solar panels and needed to see if they are producing what they should and feeding back into the grid. My last SDGE electric bill was $590 which was totally ridiculous since I have over 20 solar panels on my roof. Anyways, back to family first, I spoke with Anthony and he was very receptive, called me back to answer my questions, told me what to purchase from Enphase. So , gave him my verbal agreement, he asked for several photos and videos, in which I sent. I spoke to him , had a clear plan of what the job will take, even had a group call with the actual service technician. Appointment made. I took the day off so that I can be on site and get educated and informed in case something was wrong with my panels. Less than 12 hours before they were supposed to show up (the night before), Anthony's technician called me. He said he needed to cancel because he will need a "whole crew" to do this job". I was livid. I explained to him that he made the appointment, was on the group call with me and Anthony, and that he knew what the job needed. I had taken a vacation day from work to be home for the job. But he proceeded to give me excuses how he did not know that the job needed a whole crew. I tried calling Anthony, and my call went straight to voicemail. He called me back and ended up dropping the call. Pretty bummed at the situation, my gut feeling was to cancel the job and hire someone else. I ended up hiring a local company (I posted a review about them). It only took 1 technician and 1 apprentice to do the job. It took them 3 hours to get the install completed. I am glad that I did not have "Family First Solar" do the job. I felt as if they were trying to upsell me on my repair. Instead I hired an actual electrical company who had been around for over 20 years. Bottom line, say what you mean, mean what you say. I don't like to flake on people. If you've made an appointment, keep it. I've learned so much during this process. I'm hoping that by sharing my experience, you can learn as well. In response to Anthony's comments: Yes I sent a video on Wednesday2/14/24 , 2 days prior to the appointment. However, I sent several photos and videos a week prior 2/8/24 via email to Anthony clarifying the project. And ....we had a phone conference call with David and Anthony on the phone detailing the project. Bottom line is: The communication breakdown was not from me, the customer. I did not add any new tasks to the job. I had been discussing the details a week prior. Anyways, the other company I hired did the job in half a day with 1 electrician and 1 apprentice. I guess we can sum up this review as a breakdown in communication and not the job itself. I'll add a star for Anthony's diligence. However, owning up to a mistake and showing extreme ownership is another trait that I would have fully respected.

They installed a full solar panel system plus two Tesla Powerwall batteries for us, and the entire process was excellent from start to finish. They were very straightforward, easy to work with, and never overly salesy, which I really appreciated. First and foremost Gabe at Aloha Solar was the ONLY one where it didn't feel sales pitchy. He went to college for this, believe he grew up off grid on Maui and you can tell right away he's knowledgeable and a straight shooter. Not to mention he had the best pricing and deal out of every other company! Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. If you're thinking about solar, trust me, I did the research and I spoke to all of the sales people. GO WITH ALOHA! You will NOT be disappointed. Thanks to Gabe and the team!

Despite not technically being liable for the original job, the owner Spencer showed tremendous integrity by agreeing to fix a leak discovered during the last rains. Adolfo worked on the repair with efficiency & was very thorough in ensuring the leak was fixed properly. They ran a water & moisture test to confirm. Spencer also gave us a longterm warranty on their workmanship should any additional issues arise in the leak location. Very impressed by the type of business this company runs & would highly recommend. I will personally shy away from solar/ roofing combo companies now bc many have high turnover rates given the reduction in California subsidies- sticking with a roofing first company like Smart Roofing would be the way to go.

Throughout the process before the roof even started, the company was very attentive and communicative. From Spencer coming out to inspect the property, to updates over the weekend regarding possible rain delays, I appreciated the effort to keep me informed. Lydia in the office was also very accommodating with several texts and emails prior to the start of the project. Once the project began, I received texts letting me know David would be the project manager while Carlos and his crew handled the work onsite. I honestly do not know if David was present on the first day because when I drove by the property, the crew was extremely busy working and I chose not to step into the work zone for safety reasons. On the second day, I did step onto the property to speak with Carlos and ask questions. Carlos answered everything I asked and helped me better understand the roofing process, which I really appreciated. The crew was clean, efficient, professional, and overall the new roof and gutters look great. Maybe this was a little unconventional, but because the house is currently empty and I live in another county, I personally brought both the deposit and final check to the office. I also stayed in town during the roofing project just in case immediate access to the property was needed. Everyone throughout the process was courteous and accommodating. I also felt the overall value of the project was fair for the quality of materials, workmanship, communication, and the upgraded roofing system that was installed. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I would have appreciated a final text or email from the project manager letting me know the project was officially completed. When speaking with Carlos, he did let me know the crew planned to finish on a particular day, and they clearly did. I spoke with Lydia on the phone the day I decided to bring the final check to the office, which was what would have been day 3 based on the original 2-3 day timeline they gave me, although the crew actually completed the roof in just 2 days, yes very fast for a small roof. Lydia was kind enough to call David while I was there to see if the project had officially been completed, so perhaps I may have jumped the gun a little. Still, I would have appreciated a final confirmation directly from the project manager once everything was officially wrapped up. Other than that, I'm very happy with the final result.
