I believe variety includes chicken, beef, spinach but not certain. My wife gets the curry goat and oxtail plates, the portions of meat and rice is large. The plantains are only two and cabbage is smaller than rice. I think the meat is probably the closest tasting it can get to the real thing. No Jamaican restaurant I visited in America can get the jerk chicken taste quite the way it tastes in Jamaica. The rice and peas don't have much coconut taste if any but they give a large portion. Plantain are good, our cabbage last visit was mushy not their best work as I don't remember having this complaint before. We haven't tried Escovitch or veggie plate here. There is a small section of spice bun, biscuits, other dry goods and freezer drinks. Sparse indoor seating, no bar, mainly pick up orders. Interior decoration features some geographical illustrations, pics, possibly hand crafted traditional pieces (not for sale), and boombox music. To be transparent, I ordered via DoorDash with low expectations for some reason. I ordered the jerk chicken, rice and peas, steamed vegetables, and macaroni and cheese. The plate was full. So, the portion size was great. Again, I wasn't expecting much. I got some of everything off of the plate just to taste that night and ended up returning for more. It was so good. The jerk chicken was sauce-based & had the perfect flavor combination. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The flavor was there, and the noodles were not overcooked. A street vendor stood outside, they had a marketplace inside with some distinctive island brands of food items, and the menu and the accents were likewise real. Some Jamaican places do vegetarian and some do not; this one does. They did not have any of the tofu I wanted but instead offered me some dried soy-based chunks, which were cooked fresh in a curry sauce which I elected to get spicy. A full platter included rice and beans, sauteed cabbage, and a few plantains. It was delicious. The decor includes a map of Caribbean islands and some other atmosphere. It is a low rent kind of space overall, and the price was a bit high for that, but I could not accuse them of skimping on portion size. I got the curry chicken with beans and rice, cabbage and plantains with a side order of coco bread and a green ting. I was impressed with the fall apartedness of the chicken, and the overall flavor of the dish as a whole. Today was our second visit- the first time we drove over an hour from home to try it. This time we were passing through on the way home from NC and jumped off I-20 onto 26 to get here easily. We added an order of fried okra. Honestly, as a self-proclaimed fried okra snob- it' was the best I've ever tasted. The gentlemen knew we were first timers and was very welcoming. He kindly offered a small sample of the yams when I wanted to try them but didn't have any more room in my belly to eat a full side. The yams were sheer perfection and a must try when you come through. On our visit today, hubby tried the stewed king fish since they were out of red snapper. It was just as exceptional as the red snapper. He gave me a small bite to try because apparently it was too good to share! It was incredible and cooked perfectly. Curry chicken was my choice this go around. Love how they achieve authentic flavor without torching the tastebuds! I'm a total wimp in the heat department. Their chicken is 'fall off the bone' and 'slap your momma' good! The fried okra was identical to our visit last month- still the best in my opinion. The staff are friendly and kind. They remembered us today and that meant a lot. We eat in because we aren't local. Seems they do a lot of take out business, however there are three tables inside for folks like us. I've been desiring to eat here for awhile and always wondered where the signs on the road for this place was, and never putting two and two together that this was the place. My food was BOMB! Hands down my favorite Jamaican spot in the city now. They have REAL Jamaican food. Goat, Ackee, Saltfish, Coco Bread, and they even have a mini grocery store kind of feel where they sell supplies so you can bring Jamaica to your kitchen. They even have Ting! I ordered the small oxtails + curry chicken meal, with rices and peas, and macaroni and cheese as extra sides. Cabbage and plantains come with every meal unless you want to substitute for an up-charge. Since I was splurging on my "diet" and budget, I decided to order the macaroni and rice and peas separately. When I tell you the food was AMAZING! It was just that! I typically don't like Jamaican style oxtails but those were slammin as my mother would say lol That and the curry chicken were so flavorful and fall off the bone tender. My cabbage, rice and peas, and plantains were perfect pairs to the meal, and definitely my macaroni. I wanted to keep eating but I couldn't anymore. All that food lasted for two days and that was the small plate! All for $24.09 WITH taxes might I add! The customer service was good; everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was rockin!!!!! My Wife had the oxtail with rice and peas and veggies (small plate). I had the jerk chicken, with same sides (small plate) and a cola champagne. The portions were enough for it being a small. We also ordered a beef Pattie which was very good had a nice spicy kick which I love, my wife really liked that as well. The lady behind the counter was and looked tired. Anyway, I told her I didn't want the oxtails and my friend would keep her fish. The lady from the kitchen was not very pleased about me not wanting her food. She said "if you want to return it, I have to throw it in the trash". I said oh you want me to pay almost thirty dollars to throw it in the trash; I think not. It's not a place I will return to. I cook oxtails and they are fall off the bone tender. I have visited other Jamaican restaurants and they have tender oxtails. Try them if you dare. It's been there a long time so I'm sure someone likes it. The establishment can be easily found by all the signs on the road and the Jamaica flags waving out front. Customer service was superb and they have an assortment of dry ingredients if you want to purchase for cooking Jamaican at home.
