Had a muscle strain in my back due to Jiu Jitsu training (Jiu Jitsu is single handedly keeping chiropractors, acupuncturists and physical therapists in business lol). This clinic is at the Westlake shopping mall so expect to come early to find parking! The building was being constructed on. The building is right next to 'Sleep Train'. The office was towards the end of the hall on the third floor. He should move his clinic for better parking area. If this is your first time, come early so you can sign papers about your insurance and health. Surprisingly, the doctor was very nice, sweet and a funny man...he made things easier by making you feel welcomed. Mr Yuen gave me hope that I could one day be able to jog again after two years of back pain. Nothing worked this fast before. I was there for over an half and a half for the price of an hour session. He was very thorough in explaining what he would do and what to expect. I was afraid of the needles but after the procedure, my muscles were a little relaxed and it was pretty instant in relief of my back pain. Not all was gone but he already said, two years of pain will not go away right away. I have one more session and can't wait for the relief he will give me. He spoke good English and a bonus was he works on weekends, even late for a Sunday! I was his last patient at a 5pm appt! I don't care how far he is from me but I will come back.... I started powerlifting a year ago and just recently had my first injury deadlifting. My back was always really tight and would sometimes spasm; not only that as a result my abdomen muscles were always dull and achy. I tried massages and cupping and they gave some relief but I was starting to get depressed from all the pain and not being able to lift. I went to Dr. Yuen's office. Honestly amazing. I'm in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy and had severe right back and leg pain which was making it impossible for me to walk. I had to call off of work and was desperate to somehow diminish the pain. I called Dr Wallace's office and he was able to squeeze me in the same day! This was my first time getting acupuncture and I am absolutely sold. The effects weren't immediate which I wasn't expecting anyways, but i woke up the next morning and could actually walk. I'm so glad I found Wallace on Yelp. Ever since my pregnancy with my son, I have been struggling with high blood pressure due to stress, lifestyle changes, lack of sleep etc. And with having to take care of a little one, I have been having trouble sleeping. They are a PPO. They don't tell you that over the phone. I made an appointment for the following day. I specifically asked if they took my insurace and the receptionist said yes. As soon as I got there I was called into a small room for my treatment. After an hour session I come out to schedule another appointment and SURPRISE $65 charge. I am so upset with them for not being honest. As soon as I gave her my insurance card she should have noticed it was an HMO. You've been warned! I first went to see Wallace in January 2010 for lower back pain. My pain had been chronic since March 2009 due to ballet and got worse in September 2009. I had been seeing a different acupuncturist and massage therapist for about 3 months but with little improvement. In January 2010, the pain became so bad that I could not go to work one day. Anyone who has had terrible back pain knows how debilitating it can be. I felt incapacitated and was very worried that I would not be able to continue my active lifestyle. By chance, I had received Wallace's contact info and I decided to see him, since nothing else seemed to be working. My first visit was great. Wallace had even kindly offered to pick me up from the BART station if I could not drive to see him. My back felt better after that first visit and by the third or fourth visit, it was as if my back had never given me problems at all! I was amazed because before I saw him, I felt like my back was going to be in a painful condition for much longer. I would give 10 stars if I could! So glad my husband found this place when he needed to be treated for a foot injury. As a nurse, I have never trusted any alternatives to western medicine. My husband convinced me to schedule an appointment when he told me this clinic is contracted with our insurance. I came in for my first visit last month for deep back and leg pains, and after 3 visits, all my pains have subsided. I had to come back for a last minute visit today because I started a new nursing job, and started to have upper back pains again. Due to the fact that I carry stress on my upper back, working two jobs surely didn't help either, and made the pain worse. Almost two weeks ago while visiting my local Barnes and Noble as I normally do once a week, to make a long story short, I ended up slipping and falling on a wet surface at thier cafe. As I fell to the ground I rolled my left ankle terribly and got dizzy, blacking out for several minutes as my vision was impaired from the shock. My heart quickly sank as I remembered we had a long anticipated trip to Europe in just 11 days that was booked several months in advance. Anyway, I was sure that we would end up having to cancel, as I could not bare any weight on it at all. After going to Urgent Care and confirming I had a sprain and my doctor later adding that it was a 3rd level sprain (the worst kind) I jumped into action by turning to acupuncture to see if I could be healed enough to go on my trip. My husband got a few referrals from his co workers for Dr. Wallace. So with nothing else to loose we scheduled an appointment immediately and I can happily say that 5 treatments later, Dr Wallace worked his magic and got me to walk on my foot again. He didn't only stick me with a few needles as most acupuncturists have done for me in the past. He did a full body examination and while treating my ankle, he also worked on my various other chronic pain issues (I have scoliosis, herniated disk and arthritis in my back in addition to having been in a hit and run accident last year.) He performed extensive massages (albeit very painful) to every single inch of my body. I could feel I was healing from head to toe. My energy was higher, my pain was at its lowest level after the 3rd treatment and I haven't experienced any headaches since. He cracked plenty of jokes to help ease my anxiety of having so many needles in me (at one point one such side of my body had 16 needles alone) and tried making me as comfortable as possible. He even prescribed various herbal medicines both oral and topical to help speed up my recovery. His office is very friendly and he truly does care about his patients spending as long as it takes to make sure they leave feeling 100% better. Instead of charging me for a treatment, Dr. Wallace told me I could easily do the treatment myself at home. He told me to stop by his office, so that he could show me how to do the treatment. This place is a hidden gem in Daly City. I usually go to San Francisco to find alternative healing but it's nice to know that I don't have to look any further than Dr. Yuen's office. I was getting over the worst flu and was told acupuncture was a great way to overcome the symptoms so I went to see Dr. Yuen (aka. Dr. Wallace). Thankfully I didn't have to travel too far because I could barely drive. He has a warm and gentle presence. He actually didn't start out with acupuncture, he did this massage technique called Tui Na. It was exactly what my body needed! My nasal passages cleared which is unusual being face down but whatever he did was deeply healing. He ended the appt with acupuncture and I felt so much relief. I ended up going back and taking my 11 yr old son with me because he was having lower back pain from a basketball injury. My son was a quick fix after just a few needles and some movement, he was back to his energetic self in no time and pain free! Dr. Yuen not only helped me but my son, too! He is a very kind man.
