He was willing to connect me to some of his past clients so I could talk with them about their experience - and after their raving reviews, I felt totally confident hiring him. He gets 5 stars for the AMAZING photography. Like, WOW photos! Another 5 stars for hosting out of towners - we did our engagement shoot, and had no idea where to go or what we wanted. He did all of the suggesting and staging and they turned out beyond perfect. Another 5 stars for taking hundreds and hundreds of photos, turning them around in 2 days, and providing us with the digital negatives on disc free of watermarks or copyrights. Another 5 stars for inspiring confidence. On the day of the wedding, I never once worried or wondered if Mark was capturing the night. He was there, visible, snapping away the entire time. It was great not to have to think about it, and just trust he was on it. He's also timely, professional, and really, really nice. You only get married once (ideally). I thought I had scoped out Jerry during my research as a quality photographer, but he only showed up for the first part of ceremony (he sent a replacement photographer that wasn't trained and didn't do a very good job). I had opted for the full package, and was very unimpressed--the thank you cards/photo he sent were cheap and needed to be resized. Quality was very low, less than stock cards you could get at Walmart, and the photos needed to be inserted. The wedding video was of such poor quality that we could barely see it and could not hear it (distortion). After the fact I was supposed to get additional prints/products from him but he kept making excuses and dodging our appointments. A several thousand dollar loss, I would say I only got one or two decent photos from that whole thing. I really wish people who were out to make a quick buck and didn't care about their craft wouldn't get into a career field like this.
