Where do I start with Jonatan! We found him at bridal expo and my now husband and I knew that day we needed him to photograph our wedding. Jonatan was the only photographer that day who asked us how we got engaged. He took some time to get to know us. And that left us with a great 1st impression. The whole booking process was great! We booked Jonatan for a family session just last month. We chose to take our photos at the Irvine Regional Park. When I chose the location, I wasn't even thinking about how busy it would be the weekend before Halloween. It took us 30mins longer to get into the park and I was a little stressed. Jonatan called and let me know that he was there and not too worry and that he understood that we would be late. He knew the park very well, and was able to find the perfect places for the photos. The lighting through the trees was great. When booking my session, I told him that we wanted to use some of the photos for our Christmas cards. He came with props from ornaments to Santa hats to a chalkboard banner. Jonatan was very easy to work with and made us feel comfortable. He even had an assistant at the shoot, which was very helpful with getting our 11 month old's attention. When we received the photos, we were very pleased. I procrastinated on family photos this year and by chance found Jonatan's reviews on Yelp so decided to give him a call. He responded to my inquiry within a few hours and he was able to accomodate a family photo shoot at the location of my choice. He met with me two weeks ahead of the shoot to ensure that he could answer all of my questions and offer suggestions as well. The day of the shoot, he called half an hour before to let me know he was on his way. He was very prompt and brought props for us to use, which was a nice surprise. My 3 1/2 year old was a bit fussy and he managed to get her to be lively through the entire shoot. He even went over time to make sure he captured just the right shots. He even scoped out the venue ahead of time and it felt like we had four mini shoots because we shot in so many places. I was pleasantly suprised when we got home to get a preview pic the very same day. :) He also delivered on turning around the proofs in two weeks. I loved all the shots...the lighting he used, the creative angles he shot at, and the candid shots he got were amazing. It was July, 2014. I had just purchased the engagement ring and was in the midst of developing a plan to propose. I had asked her parents for permission, picked our beloved beach spot for the engagement, and made dinner reservations at our favorite restaurant. Even after all of that planning, something felt absent or missing. It was at that moment that it occurred to me how special it would be to capture the moment with photos. After doing some research online, I came across Jonatan Saine Photography. The wonderful reviews and locality in Aliso Viejo made them the quintessential choice. The proposal and photo shoot afterwards could not have gone any better, and I decided that same night that I wanted to book Jonatan for our wedding as well. While planning our wedding, Jonatan provided periodic updates and recommendations to enhance our wedding day. In addition, Jonatan recommended an amazing videographer team (Nineteen Studios) that he had previously worked with. The whole planning experience felt very personable, and allowed us the flexibility to plan every aspect, while eliminating some of the stress of the wedding preparations. Fast forward to our wedding day on April 16, 2016. As chaotic as a wedding day could possibly be, Jonatan could not have been easier to work with. He carefully planned and coordinated with our wedding planner to ensure that our timeline was made, and that everything ran smoothly. In addition, he made sure that we were able to squeeze in some extra photos after the ceremony with just the two of us. Since I was moving out of town for college and my boyfriend was staying home, we decided to have some nice pictures of us taken together as a keepsake. We got a Groupon for an hour-long session with Jonatan, and it was AMAZING. Booking: I dropped the ball a little on this one. I tried to book about a week and a half before I moved out for that same week. Jonatan replied promptly explaining that he generally booked two weeks in advance, and suggested a few dates- after I would have moved out. I explained the situation and, without hesitation, he offered me a time slot two days before i left. It was perfect! I was so worried we'd have to wait months to have our photos done. We discussed location and he seemed genuinely interested in what we wanted and made some great suggestions when I left it up to him in regard to location and time. We settled for Old Town San Juan Capistrano at 6. The Shoot: My boyfriend and I were a little nervous going in. We had never done anything like this before. We even showed up ten minutes late when I missed two turns... Jonatan was totally cool with it and made us feel super comfortable. He joked around and did a great job of helping us look natural in front of the camera. He did a very diverse set of pictures and asked us for input (though we rarely gave it) about what we wanted. He clearly took into account what our situation was and what we wanted, but had a clear artistic vision so we didn't feel like we didn't know what to do. He gave us a variety of poses and backdrops to work with but also gave us the opportunity to do what we wanted. Occasionally we'd just be talking or one of us would move slightly and he'd shot "Stop! Right there" and get a very natural looking shot. It really helped us relax. He joked around quite a bit too, so we didn't feel really amateur and awkward. Overall it was an awesome experience. The Photos: It's been a little under a week since our photoshoot. Jonatan told us he was going to edit the pictures and we would get a CD in a leather case with all of the pictures anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks later, after which we could order prints. He also told us he'd send us a "sneak peek" with one picture to get an idea of what it would all look like, which I received today. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT. It's by far my favorite picture of us together, and I can't help but show it off to anyone who's willing to see it. It's absolutely beautiful, and I have it set as my Yelp profile picture if you're interested in seeing it. Everyone I've shown it to has loved it also, and my boyfriend and I can't WAIT to get the rest of the set, which Jonatan said he will ship out this week. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of this photographer. He does an excellent job with people who are inexperienced and clearly loves his work. It was a great experience working with Jonatan. Since the begining, Jonatan has been very helpful on picking the family beach photo session location recommendation for us. Due to we planned to take our family photos on the beah, weather and timing are the key essentials to the outcome of the photos. Jonatan proactively asked us to reschedule the photo session because it was forcasted to be a cold and raining day on the Saturday that we first scheduled to take our photos. Jonatan is very thougtful and being so understanding throughout the entire schedulling process.
