Me and family went to check this place out for fishing, at first looked good and promising BUT to our surprise no fish at all!!!!! Not a single bite of fish in the area. We tried for over 2 hrs and nothing. I paid $33 for 3 adults and 1 kid (7yearold) if you just want to relax and enjoy a lake view this is a place for you but if you go expecting to catch lots of fish lol hmmmm... definitely this is not the place for you. Expect to see water snakes

My family and I went here about a week ago to check this lake out. It was ok. No big wow factor. There was tons of trash floating a long the edge of the water. No restrooms to be found and if there was a restroom well you probably need a biohazard suit. You do have to pay to come into this park which is owned by the power plant. I wish the money went towards the facilities. I think it's just going towards someone's pocket. There is no swimming in this lake. I know 2 reasons why. 1 this body of water is apart of a power plant. 2 there is alligators. Not a great place to take the family because kids need restrooms. You will have to drive to go to the nearest restroom. My recommendation. If you and your buddies want to go fishing and hang out and not worry about small bladders this is a place to go. I wouldn't recommend this place for camping unless you bring your own bucket to use the bathroom.

This is the first time I've been to the park and can definitely confirm there are alot of different birds here, including ducks. There was plenty of parking thankfully and not overly crowded when we came. The path itself was very easy and you basically walk around this big lake. They also do have plenty of seating around and saw many people there fishing. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was that there was alot of trash. Some parts of the trail were decent but you could still see the place isn't really kept up with cleaning which is a shame. Even on the path I saw this random bed spring that was kinda random. Overall it wasn't a bad park but wish they kept it cleaned up would have enjoyed it more.

However, we found so much debris and smell everywhere: mounds of clothing and trash that appears to have been piling up for some time. I see that there was an upgrade done to the park in 2017. Now in 2025, this once beautiful park seems to have been neglected and allowed to be a catchment for homeless people and people not interested in cleaning up after themselves. There was an obvious drug deal happening at one point on the path as well. We saw the volunteer park stewards on their bikes but wondering what input they have to help this poor park.

They have an air conditioned portable bathroom trailer that is decent. 6 stalls in the women's room and they were fairly clean. The summer heat had them smelling a little funky, but I'm not sure what can be done to fix that. The staff was friendly. The school bus ride back to the starting point after the float was nostalgic. For a moment, it took me back to feeling like we were on a school field trip. We definitely see ourselves coming back but at least bringing our own floats for our coolers to cut down on the expense. We had a large group with 2 coolers so it was $50 just to bring our coolers along.

They do have a decent size portable bathroom, which was nice. My only complaint is that they should keep the water on inside them a little longer. We got back to the beginning around 4:30 and went to use the bathroom before heading out, but the water was already turned off. The float itself was actually painful. There are SO many rocks that you constantly hit and scrape your rear end against, and it gets pretty uncomfortable after a while. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this location just because this particular section was so rocky. Overall, it was fun, but definitely bring some extra money and be prepared for a rocky ride!

Whether walking/hiking/biking, be prepared to be captivated by your surroundings and also out of breath from all the movement. I can only imagine what this park is like in the summers with the hot sun scorching on you. According to some reviews, there is a tower that gives panoramic views of SA. Unfortunately I could not reach this tower as I was pressed for time. But i did get quite the workout as I trekked along the unpaved trails and soaked in the views of plants, trees, and the wildlife. Additionally, there's a covered pavilion and rest rooms at the parking area of the park. And plenty of parking. This is worth visiting when you're in the SA area; just make sure you've got proper footing and bugspray!

Locating where to find the start was a little tricky, but with the help of other locals, we spotted our way. The trial was approximately 1.9 miles one way and a mixture of paved, but more so natural, which we loved. A few areas of some steep step climbs, but nothing crazy. Lots of places for photo opps, and at this time of year, it was so pretty to see all the wildflowers blooming. At one point, we reached a high point in the trail, and it then dipped down, making us question....are we on the correct trail?! Our goal was to reach the tower with panoramic views of SA. But...just continue and follow the signage. We reached the tower and were elated. Took tons of pics and busted out some yoga moves : D Well worth the drive, and there are many other trails to explore , that I'll have to come back and check out. Came during the week- it was nice, the weekends might be very busy.
