I decided on this practice as it's a small family business and I wanted to support that vs. a larger chain. I met with Crystal as my hygienist who was great. She took all my x-rays, quickly and fully understood that it is not a pleasant experience. She was upbeat and sympathetic to the fact that no patient enjoys the x-ray experience. She reviewed my old films with me and then went through the new ones talking about areas of concern that she wanted to review with the dentist later in the appt. During the cleaning Crystal made sure that I was ok with the water pic cleaning method, in case I hadn't had it done before. She was gentle, quick and thorough during my cleaning. The best part of the experience was towards the end with the dentist and the hygienist in discussing what to watch for the health of my teeth and that they agreed with me to a conservative approach vs. doing unnecessary work "just in case". I appreciate this the most b/c it shows they care about my health and not just the bottom line. The last best part of the experience is that they have tv's on the wall AND the ceiling - with cable, allowing me to be distracted during the whole appointment which kept me relaxed. I've had dental work done for 30 years, so I'm always a bit nervous about what they will find next, and the tv helped keep my mind from worrying. I recommend heading here for your dental needs. This is my second time back to Calcaterra family dentistry and for a good reason. I had a root canal at a different dental office a few years ago and I felt nearly the entire procedure. At my first visit with Dr. Calcaterra, I needed a filling and I explained my concerns about pain management. He was so understanding, I started to feel some pain and rather than just putting the injection in the same spot, in a stepwise approach, he numbed all the possible nerves for that one tooth. Yes, it took longer for the filling, but I didn't feel anything. I came back today for a cleaning and another filling. Same excellent service again! I used to absolutely dread going to the dentist for anything, but honestly, everyone in that office is so kind and understanding. After having a filling crack and fall out the night before on a weekend, I had no where to get it fixed. Early Saturday morning I called Calcaterra. They picked up and immediately worked on seeing if I could get in. I was a new patient, no insurance, and happened to have a dental emergency too! They were able to get me in for a consult, x rays and new filling all the same day. I happened to be lucky. Very fair and affordable pricing. The office staff, Amanda the hygienist, and Dr. Nic, were super nice and accommodating. My filling came out smooth and he allowed my aligners to fit over it. I have been going here for years and was a patient of Dr. Becker. The Calcaterras took over the practice 3 years ago and they really turned it around. As you enter the building you initially think you're going into a basement but the office is actually on the ground floor with lots of natural light. The entire staff is exceptional, including Judy. Dr. Nick is probably the most laid back dentist out there but when he talks to you and works you can tell he is super focused and takes pride in his work. When I've needed work Judy is there to work with my insurance and I've never had any financial surprises. The location is convenient and the parking is easy. My only complaint is that it can be tough to get in and out of the parking lot during rush hour because of traffic on the Post Rd. read more

I cannot say enough about calcarerra dentistry group. Just a few reasons I love them: After braces from someone else, my son had spots that nobody could fix until I came here. They fixed it with bonding! They gave my son a root canal and he had no pain and watched a movie saying it was a great time... literally. the next appointment they couldn't get in before he had to go away to college so THEY came in on their day off and opened the office for him! I went here for the removal of all 4 impacted wisdom teeth. The experience couldn't have been better. I had a complicated case with the possibility of nerve damage, but Dr. Calcaterra was able to successfully remove all 4 teeth with no problems, which I am extremely grateful for! He is very knowledgable, friendly and an amazing dentist. I always felt safe and listened to. Cyndi was my dental assistant and she made sure I felt at ease and always knew what was going on. I first discovered Dr. Calcaterra's office when I needed a root canal at age 52. I have extreme anxiety when it come's to dentist and am unable to get any work done on my teeth without a panic attack. Once i met with Dr Calcaterra and his assistant Cindy, I knew immediately i was in the right hands. Doctor Nick explained everything about my procedure and was not in a rush, answered all my questions and understood my anxiety, I opted for the IV treatment and once I came to the procedure was over, just the way I like it. Cindy prepped me for my procedure and took her time, and listened to me, and she just made me feel so comforted if that is a thing at a dentist. This is the most loving and caring practice I'd ever been to. I do need to do the final step of my root canal and get the crown, and will do the IV for that as well, but with no anxiety I feel completely safe and comfortable in Dr. Calcaterra's dentist chair. All the staff are amazingly kind. oh and the hygienist who cleaned my teeth yesterday, I have never had my teeth cleaned without walking away with pain in my mouth for days. Outstanding! The office is easy to access and clean. The staff is very friendly and handle you with care! Once you're in the seat you have a back massager and your own tv in front of you. Once they lay you back you have a tv in the ceiling! No more looking at the huge cavity searchlight! This office is very state of the art and very friendly. If you are looking for a dentist I would recommend them. My family and I have been going to them for years. You walk in and go to the ground floor the office is clean with lots of light. The staff is super friendly and courteous. They work with your schedule and are very accommodating. I recently rescheduled my dentist appointment twice and they were like no problem here is a new time we will see you then. I had the wrong day for my appointment and when I realized I missed my appointment Judy was able to schedule me in for a time that same week. The hygienists there are all professional and friendly. They make sure you are comfortable while they work and will have a conversation with you. You don't feel like a patient when you are there you feel like you are catching up with a friend you haven't seen in 6 months. Now for the doctors themselves. What a sweet couple. They are both so professional and take their job seriously. I'm someone who was not a fan of the dentist because of bad experiences with fillings. my first time there i needed multiple fillings and was nervous. Dr Calcaterra asked why and when I said it was because the last time I ended up feeling everything and got a nasty infection. He made sure I didn't feel a thing and did all my fillings in one shot.
