My favorite bar in the city serving my favorite drink. Small and cozy with numerous scotch options. Not cheap but hey.

What an excellent addition to the UWS! Caledonia is everything you want from a bar: excellent cocktails and a charming Scottish bartender. Jeff was great, happy to explain the drink menu to us and somehow made 10+ cocktails for our group is under 10 minutes. I look forward to returning and trying the food - it looked delicious. P.S. Great location with an awesome selection of Scotch. The bartender Jeff is an absolute gentleman and is excellent at his trade. He is very knowledgeable and made many suggestions. He also makes some great craft cocktails as well. Food is available but I did not sample any. The bar is well anointed and definitely and upgrade for the area. I will be back!! read more

The best addition to the neighborhood! Friendly service (but not in an aggressive way), solid pub food, and obviously a huge whiskey selection. Really good spot for a date or drinks with friends, as it's fairly quiet but still has a cool, low-key vibe. read more

Caledonia is a warm, inviting and very traditional Scottish bar. I went here for Happy Hour with my friend, and we each got a few glasses of wine + split a couple of appetizers. The Happy Hour food deals are better than the drinks in my opinion- all appetizers are half off and all (full) entrees are $10! Pretty amazing. My only issue is the space is INCREDIBLY tiny. There are a few tightly-fit tables at the end of the bar and it feels super cramped. read more

I am thrilled that this place has opened up. My regular favorite bar in the area has unfortunately, begun to edge on broey and Caledonia is 100% the answer to that problem. It's chill but lively, so you have a great atmosphere but nobody is screaming in your ear. I went there for the first time with a buddy on Hanukkah/Christmas Eve and had a couple delicious Old Fashioneds. I've since come back a couple more times and every time has been a success.They have a great selection of whiskeys from around the world. The bartender we've had every time (Jeff) is friendly, remembers my name, and mixes a quality drink which is really what you want in a bartender. I also love that they are not snobby, but approachable about whiskey as evidenced by the delightful story in their cocktail menu. Looking forward to visiting again, and again, and again. read more

Came in here late night with a girl friend- had the whole bar to ourselves (but it was Halloween) except some fellow local UWSiders. Very friendly bar tenders, great wine choices (Sancerre is my favorite). Olives were fantastic- must order if you're an olive fan. My salad was exactly what I wanted. My friends chicken sandwich was pretty burnt so she sent it back and they brought her a new one that was a bit better. Next time I'm going to get the soup and grilled cheese. Will definitely be returning for cozy date nights or just some good wine and ambiance. read more

Excellent whiskey selection. Once you enter, it's as if you're whisked away to a cozy bar in Scotland. The bartender knows his stuff. When I visited, it was easy to get a seat, and the drinks were expertly made, down to the type of ice used. read more

Enjoyed two visits to UWS during my recent visit to Manhattan. Prior to visiting I was not Scotch drinker, but I have been turned. Went for a late dinner. Passed by several restaurants because Caledonia was highly rated. Apparently they close the kitchen 5 hours before the bar closes. Might want to add that to your website! Went to use the bathroom before heading out to find another place to eat and manager gave an attitude about it. Asked if he could recommend someplace close by to eat. He said he didn't know of anyplace. Walked out and across the street to another whiskey bar that was still serving food. A crazy idea on a Saturday night! This is a really great bar that has a "NYC" feel to it. It's a classic split level hallway bar, but pulls off the cozy feeling. The whiskey and scotch selection is incredible, although it can get a little pricey. The staff is very knowledgeable and able to help with suggestions, make sure to read the first page of their drink menu though. I suggest the beer + whiskey pairing. read more

Wonderful new bar and restaurant, nice atmosphere. Loved the Bees Knees and Bramble cocktails. Stayed for dinner - fried pickles and Scotch Egg apps very tasty. All of our group's dinner choices were excellent: grilled cheese and tomato soup, panzanella salad, pulled pork and fish & chips. Friendly staff and owner. I found this bar through Yelp and decided to go there before a show. This is a great place for anyone but particularly for anyone who enjoys a good scotch. The variety was outstanding. Found this gem while visiting my daughter. It was wonderful. The cocktails were superb, the drafts excellent and the single malt selection was beyond compare. The staff were helpful and friendly. This bar is cute and just a little bit elegant - feels classy but also like a neighborhood spot. I have been here a couple times but what left the biggest impression is when we brought a bunch of people here to surprise my wife for 30th birthday celebration cocktails. It's a smallish bar and we took up a bit of room but the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Jeff, the bartender, was so good natured and attentive and even went downstairs to find more olive juice for us when everyone kept ordering dirty martinis - even though it is a scotch bar. Cocktails were delicious and the food is really good - especially the chicken sandwich. Honestly, the UWS has a terrible bar selection and Caledonia is GREAT - it is definitely our new regular favorite. read more

As a scotch and bourbon lover, this place is heaven. I am not exaggerating. The lighting at the bar is a little weird and absurdly bright and the seating is not conducive to comfort but the exceptional cocktails make up for it.
