Stopped in last week after an event and ended up having one of those unexpectedly great dining experiences. We usually plan ahead and but weren't expecting to be in the area. Despite that, the staff had no problem getting us a table for two, and from there the experience only got better. Design and atmosphere? Check! Service? Super! The food absolutely showed up. Special shoutout to the deviled eggs, which had no business being that good. Proof that sometimes the best finds are the ones you never planned for. Def going back. read more

This place is so cool. I went with a group of friends and the vibe is speakeasy type very dark dim and just a good place too try whiskey. The options are endless. I tried the TAKAMINE 8YR KOJI FERMENTED - it was a lighter Japanese whiskey. One of the few places that actually left me speechless! My husband and I made dinner reservations at The Parlour Room to celebrate our 9 year anniversary and, as usual, Resy gives you the option to put an occasion, which I did. Usually it's not paid much mind, but The Parlour Room felt like a red carpet rollout. The lovely hostess knew it was an anniversary and congratulated us while leading us to our table. This space is really stunning and stylish, the kind of spot you can't help but admire all night long. Our table was dressed up for the occasion, with little macarons and glasses of champagne waiting for us, along with other lovely details that made us feel so special. There's a song by Sade called "Never as Good as the First Time." Although the song is about love, and not dining, I've found that when I have an impeccably perfect time at a restaurant, the subsequent visits just don't measure up to that first time. And this isn't entirely the restaurant's fault: when, as a customer, you've already tasted a good part of the menu, seen the decor, experienced the good service and ambience, it's really hard for future visits to be "as good as the first time." But then there's Parlour Room that dazzles me every time I visit New York. Last Saturday we sat at the same booth as our first visit and were lucky enough to have Jesus as a server again. I was so excited to see him. We had so much food that we had to take a good amount to go, but let me give you the rundown. New things we tried this time: Octopus: I've never had octopus in my life. And I've never wanted to try it. No interest at all. But a Parlour Room suggestion? Okay, sure. I trust it. And guess what? 10/10 Ribs: The presentation was pretentious in the best way, but still, my expectations weren't too high. BUT they rivaled the best soul food restaurant. Fall off the bone and full of flavor. I couldn't believe it. Another 10/10 Mac and cheese: I wasn't enthusiastic about ordering this because I didn't want all the carbs and cheese. Then I couldn't stop eating it. 10/10 The usuals: burger and fries, meatballs, and deviled eggs. Always 10/10, or 5 stars, in Yelp standards. :) The drinks and dessert were unbelievably decadent as well. As usual. What an evening. One more thing...They changed the menu recently, and in my experience, that usually means some sort of disappointment as you discover they've gotten rid of your favorite dish, added uninteresting things, and/or consolidated the offerings in general. But Parlour Room was thoughtful in this regard--unlike anything I've seen before. And what a relief. Ok this place was really nice. My friends enjoyed their cocktails here and the Diet Coke was nice and crisp! We visited this place last minute as a walk-in, and they were able to accommodate our party of five, which we really appreciated. It definitely gives off an upscale vibe and the ambiance is beautiful. However, the food didn't quite match the upscale pricing. We ordered a few pastas and the chicken platter, and overall they lacked flavor. In my opinion, the food wasn't the highlight of the experience. The drinks, on the other hand, were great, and the service was okay -- nothing particularly special, but not bad either. The ambiance truly stands out and makes the space feel elevated. I'd recommend adding some new entrées that really set them apart and justify the price point. I took my husband to The Parlour Room for his birthday while we were in New York. The hostesses wished him a happy birthday upon our arrival, and we were shown to a cute little table near what felt like a library. The restaurant has a speakeasy feel to it, and in the back, it's quite cozy and less busy than near the bar. At our table was a card for him and a personalized menu. After sitting down, we received two complimentary glasses of Prosecco. Prices, for NYC, were reasonable. I started with the deviled eggs which were topped with a little bit of caviar. They were tasty. My husband's burrata was also good especially with the pesto and crispy focaccia. As an entree, I had the grilled Spanish octopus. The gigantic beans were especially good. He liked his beef bolognese but thought it was on the smaller side. For dessert, we ordered the white chocolate bread pudding. Everything was so amazing!! We went here for my birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make it special. They gave me a birthday card, two glasses of prosecco, a little package of macarons, and chocolate mousse with a lit sparkler to celebrate! I was so surprised and happy that it brought tears to my eyes several times. The food was incredible, the best I had on my entire birthday trip. Also, the restaurant was gorgeous, so beautifully decorated, and had well-spaced tables with plenty of room to go around! And the staff were so kind and attentive! Came here on a Saturday night for a dinner for two for our anniversary, we had a reservation and I would recommend getting one too since it looked rather busy. Now I don't put this lightly, this was maybe the best dining experience I've had the pleasure of having. From the get go, we were sat right away and we're greeted with personal celebrations for us that were all complimentary and a few of the managers even came to our table to offer their congratulations. Our server, Michael P, was a gentleman and professional to the highest degree. Checked in on us without being overbearing and made sure that our glasses were never empty and that everything was how we wanted it. The atmosphere is also very cool, almost a speakeasy style mixed with the likes of being in your rich aunt's fancy estate. Music is the perfect volume, enough to set the mood but not intrusive at all for conversation. Lighting is a little on the dark side for anyone that may be hard of seeing, but that's also part of the ambiance. Starting with our cocktails, my partner got their Gatsby martini and I got the Tropics in New York. Both light and refreshing, leaning on the citrus side, but I also would have liked to try some of their other bourbon cocktail offerings given their extensive list of whiskey offerings available. For food, we started off with the burrata and arancini. My biggest compliment to the burrata is that the pesto is well salted! So many restaurants (Italian specialty included) don't season their sauce enough it just comes off flat. In a similar vein, I'm usually a little sensitive to truffle being overbearing in dishes, but the arancini gives you just the right amount without feeling like it's slapping you in the face. For dinner we ordered the filet mignon with chimichurri butter, the Amish chicken, and a side of fries. Steak was perfectly cooked to order and the richer version of chimichurri was a delightful pairing for the luxurious meat. The Amish chicken was such a nice balance between succulent chicken legs, crispy skin, tender roasted vegetables, and a spatzel that was a perfect side with each bite. The fries were nothing to shy away from either, a little more on the potato-y side, but that's how I like them. Buyer beware though, the Sriracha ketchup they offer as one of the sauces is a touch spicy but delicious (and I'm no amateur when it comes to spices), so if you want to stay on the tame side the garlic aioli and standard ketchup will do you just fine. Lastly for dessert we shared a creme brulee which was just the little bit of sweet treat we needed before we finished off our night. I would gladly come back here for any special occasion, the team here at the Parlour Room have stolen my heart. read more

My girlfriend drug me in here kicking and screaming. It's pretty obvious that this is a girl bar, and even though I've lived here forever, I can't get through an episode of Sex in the City. Anyhow, I had a long day at work and didn't feel like fighting... so we went in. I asked the hostess if they even allowed men in here... because I'm an old school ass-hole. My girlfriend ordered some fru-fru shit, and a bottomless wine. I ordered the braised spare rib. It arrived at our table in less than five minutes. The food came so fast, it honestly freaked me out. I don't know how the kitchen managed plating it that fast. But, guess what.... I took a bite of the spare rib, and I couldn't believe it. Ten out of ten. I've had a lot of spare ribs in the City--this was the best. Seriously, I can't tell you how great it was. You are going to need to try it. I'm coming back tomorrow. The service was great - our table had a reserved sign which made the night feel all the more special, our sweet waiter, Tanner, was super attentive & helpful, we received complementary champagne & desserts for the celebration - the service is really the main star of The Parlour Room. That being said, the food fell a bit flat for us. Perhaps we came on an "off" day as most reviews are quite positive when it comes to their food. I can't recall the exact appetizers ordered, but they were honestly delicious & so we were hopeful for our entrees, but they were a miss. Needed some food before a concert at MSG, and Yelp didn't steer me wrong on this gem. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of well decorated nooks and a classy bar. Service was attentive and friendly. And the food options were varied and great. We went with the octopus and crab dip for appetizers. The octopus was cooked right and the garnish added a delicious depth of flavor, while the crab dip featured actual huge chunks of crab! Chips were fresh. My bf and I were walking the streets around the Empire State Building and saw this place was empty so thought we'd get a happy hour drink around 4. Best decision we made! The vibe was kind of like an old school speakeasy lounge where the bartenders and waiters were dressed in suspenders. The restaurant has an interior decor with high ceilings and period artwork on the walls that makes you think for a moment that you stepped back in time to the turn of the last century. There is a high quality sound system that's a pleasure to listen to, neither boomy nor shrill. Service was personable and attentive. My wife and I shared the arancini, which made a great starter. My beef bourguignon was delicious and my wife said her kale salad was one of the highlights of her trip. I'm glad I went with the recent positive reviews for this place and would be glad to return. I chose the Little Gem Caesar and the deviled eggs. Even that was too filling. I do appreciate the bartenders recommendations regarding portion sizes. The Caesar was the most unique I've tasted. Two large pieces of crisp romaine so can definitely be shared. The dressing was light and delicious. The veggies were fresh. I love anchovies on Caesar salad but I'm not a tempura fan. That was a miss for me because they were soggy and doughy. I've had deep crispy fried anchovies before and think they would be better. You do need something crunchy to replace the croutons. Just a thought. The deviled eggs were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the caviar which broke up the richness of the filling. They were super creamy but so rich that eating 4 by myself was too much. The fried potato chips dipped in the horseradish dip is to die for. The dip is tangy, creamy, and kicks you in the face just like a good horseradish does. We also ordered the meatballs which were tender, came with a great sauce, cheese, and crusty bread to dip in. Lastly, we ordered the warm grain salad which did well to cut through the heaviness of the meatballs. The greens were tossed in vinegar and served with a side of warm farro and whipped feta. Our server left us alone almost too much where he gave us space but we had to ask for another round of drinks. Happened upon this restaurant on a week night after visiting the Empire State Building. We arrived around 9:45-10:00pm, worried that they would not still be selling food, but to our pleasant surprise the entire restaurant/bar was open. The ambiance was AMAZING. From the moment we stepped through the door we felt like we had traveled back into the Victoria era; old photographs covering the walls, Victoria style colors, lighting, couches, and seats. Drinks 10/10 Dorian's Temptation - perfect balance of raspberry and lemon with a touch of sweetness. 9/10 Game of Love - I was not a fan of the chipotle salt because it reminded me of Mezcal, but my mom loved the drink. It was perfectly sweet for her. I ordered a second Dorian's temptation and the wonderful woman who sat us ended up bringing my mom another of her drinks saying "she can't drink alone" with a huge smile on her face. Food 7/10 Warm grain salad - the fresh cheese was so good and mixed well with the variety of grains in the salad. Overall very balanced and flavorful 9/10 Meatballs - surprised that this appetizer plate came with so many meatballs. They were perfectly seasoned and the cheese was fresh, bread was perfectly toasted. 10/10 Warm crab dip - need I say more? Can't ever go wrong with crab dip. Brought my wife out for dinner here on Christmas Day. Honestly didn't expect them to be open but I checked ahead and was able to make a reservation. They had a pre fixe menu that day which I was a little unsure about at first but I'm really glad we went. The place was crowded as expected for Christmas and the decor inside was really nice and different from your average restaurant. The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in. The portions were a lot bigger than I expected and the drinks were on point. I had the Parlour Dirty Martini and she had The Gatsby Royale. They were both made really well. We had the seafood chowder and meatballs to start, prime rib and crispy skin Scottish salmon for entrees, and finished with the eggnog creme brulee and dark chocolate mousse. When we requested the bill, they even provided us with complimentary hot apple cider and muffins. Since we were stuffed from dinner, they gladly packed it for us to take out. We got the arancini and the oysters as apps. Both were delicious! Arancini had a strong truffle flavor. They were rich and creamy. The oysters were super fresh. I got the gnocchi as an entree. They were the perfect texture--not too chewy. I would have liked a thicker sauce on them but they were still yummy. The dish is supposed to be made with prosciutto but it came with just one tiny piece on the side :( but it did have plenty of mushrooms. When you walk in, the atmosphere here is romantic, dark, private, and beautiful. The decor does feel like you're in someone's parlor with the lamps and the library shelf. Came here with the family for Father's Day since we wanted the 46 oz Tomahawk and the Sea Scallop risotto that we saw on their menu from another Yelp review a few months ago. However, we were disappointed because the menu was different and both those items were not on the menu. It was already after 9pm so we decided to just stay and try it out. We wound up ordering the 22 oz Cowboy ribeye, creamed spinach, the Bar Burger (Cheeseburger) and the Hokkaido Scallop appetizer which I ate as a meal since I wasn't hungry. It took the food about 40 mins to come out. Luckily, everything we ordered tasted good. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The scallops were tender and came with cucumbers and a light sauce. My daughter said the cheeseburger was good and the fries were hot. Another plus was that the service was good. I was very thirsty after walking all day, so they were really good about refilling our water. I recommend calling to see what the menu is and be prepared to wait for your meal. It was quite packed and we were only able to sit at the high top table for an hour before we had to move to the bar. We split the truffle fries, brie and the truffle pasta dish. The fries were great, but the brie was really not as great as we had anticipated. The pasta dish was quite heavy and very cream/ truffle forward.
