Carbonated Cosmo & Assemble the Empire
    Kristina B.

Stopped in on a Sunday early evening and got a booth easily. Had a falafel burger and ordered two cocktails; How to Start a Fire and Assemble the Empire-- the former was my go-to, Smokey and spicy while the other was milky and too sweet. The falafel burger was pretty good! And the fries it came with were tasty. Service was speedy, I dug the lighting and ambiance. Clean, neat spot in the neighborhood. Competitive pricing (spent about $70 in all, including tip). Would stop in again. Not stuffy at all.

Great service! The bartenders were very polite, and friendly. Super quick service. This was an unexpected visit while traveling and I was very pleased with my experience! Very relaxing and welcoming environment!

First time here, the spicy chicken and shrimp roll sliders were delicious, great post workout munch. Had their passion fruit mojito as well, two of them. Would come back, these upper west side places are a hit or miss sometimes but I don't feel bloated or tired, so thought I'd share. The ambience is also refreshing, candles are lit when lights are turned off. Service is great, employees have warm and welcoming attitudes.

A cozy cocktail bar. There's a variety of seating - bar seats, booths and high tops. They have a good happy hour. $10-$12 drinks and $10-$12 small bites. They also have a larger food menu. You order at the bar and pick your drinks up there. Food is delivered to your table. Went on a Friday night and the place was pretty chill until around 7pm and then it really picked up. Got super crowded and very loud. If that's not your scene, I suggest going on off-peak times. I had a glass of wine and the carbonated cosmo. The cosmo was good but apparently super strong!! Even though I was eating throughout the night, the cosmo hit me like a ton of bricks. We had queso, chickpeas and fries to snack on. Loved the queso dip. The staff were generally friendly and attentive throughout the evening. This is a great place to come as a group or even solo for a quick drink.

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and was served by the male bartender. He was very attentive and made great cocktails! The food was 10/10. Everything tasted freshly made. Would definitely come back to enjoy their happy hour. The place plays great music and it has a chill vibe to it.

Random find after dinner. Nice for a quick stop in for drinks. Small bar with other open seating and big booth on the back. Server was friendly and made a yummy sour cocktail. Ambiance is very chill, good for small or large crowds.

nobody told me -- but I told my sister we had to stop here when she blessed me with her presence a few days ago. We were worried there would be a wait but it was practically empty when we arrived around 4pm on Labor Day, to our luck and joy. Interior is so cozy and cute with the wallpaper and bar area. Both of us were in love with the experience. There was only one server/bartender and he was killing it behind the bar and with the table top service even with a steady flow of customers shortly after our arrival. 1st: incredible cocktails: How To Start A Fire margarita (got 2) + Copy Of A Copy + So What? HH cocktail. Exactly as described, beautifully presented. 2nd: the food was sublime. Seriously, everything was just so creative and delicious. Ordered: -fish tacos, fried chicken slider for sis, shishitos with bbq glaze, basic but perfectly done fries with addictive leek dip and smokey ketchup, and a spinach&artichoke empanada with a dusting of spices. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised that the tacos ($5 for Happy Hour) were so large and generously topped (including unseen avocado).. and I'm typically a huge proponent of "less is more". No other HH version comes close for the value. I'm a fish taco connoisseur fr and those were some of the best I've had in so long -- definitely my new Manhattan favorite. We could not stop raving about the service and our meals for hours!! must come back to try more of the menu / whatever is new! Happy Hour is every day from 3PM to 6PM. food aaaand drink specials!

No frills cocktail bar with a great happy hour. Wines, beers, and certain cocktails are under $10 and they have a $5 snack menu. You order at the bar. The place is small so it can fill up. Summer is nice because there is some additional seating outside. I've only gone for drinks and appetizers but they've all been great. I love the fries with leek dip and the masala chickpeas. The dinner menu looks nice so I will need to come sometime for that. The cocktail menu does change seasonally but some drinks are always on the menu.

Great happy hour spot near manhattan valley area. Stopped in before a dinner reservation and they had bomb cocktails, white Negroni on draft! And $2 dollar oysters. Excellent bar service as well. Give it a stop!

    Nobody's Double Cheeseburger
    Jetrina M.

I went here for dinner with my friend and we shared both the regular cheeseburger (comes with double patties) and the falafel burger. We loves both of them! The cheeseburger reminds me of a hearty and elevated Big Mac and the falafe burger was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Each burger came with a mountain of fries that crispy but soft. Burgers were about $20 each. Open seating and you order at the bar. Menu is on a QR code. It's definitely a cute place to check out and the burgers are delicious.

French toast, eggplant dip, avocado on toast and fries
    Nyla G.

Walking in nobody is there to greet you and seat you at a table, which isn't a problem but no one tells you anything till you ask. When you sit where you'd like they will bring a menu but you have to go up to the register and tell them what you want which I felt kinda weird about. The ambience of the place is a chill and cozy spot if you aren't looking for anything fancy, and just wanna come in, eat, and leave. Lastly, the food was overall good. We got the French toast, avocado on toast, the eggplant dip and a side of fries. The French toast was good had like a lemon zest to it and wasn't too sweet. Avocado on toast was bland but ok. And the fries were good with the leek dip it came with.

How could I not love a place with the name, Scarlet Lounge?…read more It takes a lot to get me to venture to this part of town and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had a night out on the Upper West Side, but Scarlet has been on my list since I saw owner, Michael Imperioli's announcing the opening on Instagram. I found myself in the area on recent Friday evening and decided to meet up with two friends here. I was smitten at first sight of the beautifully-appointed room, with seductive red drapery and gold accents. All I wanted to do was curl up on one of the velvet chairs and spend my entire evening captivated by imagined past lives of this space... Dorothy Parker holding court here with her Vicious Circle, sipping on Gibsons and martinis. You're going to have a glorious time. We were welcomed by a dashing gentleman at the door who kindly found us seating in the sultry little nook by the piano. Our server never left us wanting for anything and believe me, we wanted it all. Cocktail names are well-priced, especially for Manhattan. I kept to a decent bubbly and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here.

ONE BARTENDER FOR THE ENTIRE BAR -- READ BEFORE YOU GO:…read more I've never felt more gaslit by positive reviews in my life. The people calling this place "amazing" are either Sopranos fans, personally connected to management, or grading on an unbelievably generous curve. I have absolutely nothing to gain from distorting my experience. And judging by reviews like Benny R's below, I'm clearly not the only one saying this: if you go to The Scarlet, expect to wait forever, get ignored, and leave frustrated. And the worst part? It's not even a one-off bad night. I've been to The Scarlet multiple times, and every single visit has been the exact same mess: one bartender trying to run the entire place alone while customers sit around waiting endlessly for service. Last night (May 20), there were around 20-25 people in the bar between the tables and bar seats, and a single bartender was expected to do everything: make drinks, take orders, deliver cocktails to tables, clear space at the bar, all of it. Unsurprisingly, service moved at a glacial pace. My date and I were seated when we arrived and after waiting 30 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally had to walk up to the bar and order my own drink. It was deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. Management charging $25 per cocktail while refusing to properly staff the place is ridiculous. If you're going to price drinks like a luxury lounge, at least operate like one. MEMO TO MANAGEMENT - stop being cheap and hire another bartender. Your customers are paying enough to deserve basic service.

Paper plates, plastic cutlery and pita chips warmed and served in the bags they came in. 2. Service - non-existent. No staff members acknowledge your arrival. You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.

Usually that would mean that service is faster as the staff are walking out of the kitchen, but the service here was unbearably slow. We had to crane our heads to get our orders taken, to find someone to give us our bill, and to ask about our order. We ordered a drink (the second drink was sold out and my friend was uninterested in other options) and two appetizers and the drink came first, followed by a twenty minute wait for calamari. The calamari was probably the thinnest squid in the ocean and looked like shoestring fries, but the sauce it came in was delicious. There were approximately three zucchini sticks and four peppers in the calamari, which is on par with many restaurants, but less bang for your buck. It eventually became clear after another 10 min wait that our truffle fries were nowhere to be seen, and since we had to leave for our dinner reservation soon we struggled to flag a server, who then told us that they never put in our fries order. We obviously did not ask them to start making it for us, instead asking for the bill and then leaving. I wish I liked this place more than I did, but the service and staff here were so slow and hard to flag down it felt like we spent our entire meal looking around.

We had an absolute blast from the moment we stepped inside. The whole experience--from the warm welcome at the door to the high-energy live music--was 10/10. The Food Experience: Truly Next Level The food here isn't just "bar snacks"--it's a full-on culinary experience. We tried several dishes and honestly, every single one was a hit: * Grandma's Sunday Sauce: This was the star of the show. It's pure comfort in a bowl and tastes like it's been simmering for days. * The Bacon: You can't go wrong here. It's perfectly prepared, smoky, and dangerously addictive. * The Burrata: So fresh and creamy--the perfect way to start the meal. * Crispy Shrimp: These had the perfect crunch and were packed with flavor. The Vibes & Service The host set the tone right away with a great welcome, and the service throughout the night was seamless. It's rare to find a spot that balances a sophisticated "speakeasy" atmosphere with such friendly, attentive staff. And of course, the music! The live band was electric and kept the energy high all night long. The "Roaring 20s" vibe is so well-done--it feels intimate but exciting at the same time. Final Verdict I would definitely suggest Prohibition to everyone!
