Jerry came by for the estimate on a Thursday and started/finished the work on a Saturday. He and his other employee came at 8AM sharp and hammered out all that work by around 6pm. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. I had so many questions and they were all answered. I was even working on a few projects of my own and having a bit of trouble (I'm not too handy) and Jerry was quick to help. Jerry is the real deal. Our original reason to go with him was we needed a lot of little electrical AND plumbing jobs, and we figured we could a little money on labor. The number of little jobs equaled enough of a big job and we needed it : new lighting in almost every room, fixing broken electrical outlets, moving a gas pipe that had made the stove a hassle to deal with, replacing a leaking sink, and a leaky toilet. And an elusive leak. During the holidays. He quoted a price, and it was close to our budget, so we were hoping for not-a-lot of mishaps. We got recessed lighting throughout the dining room and kitchen, two rear speakers in, new vanities in the bathrooms, he powered through the lighting and electrical, even things I didn't notice until pointed out, mostly in a day (a two man job). Then the problems set in: rusted pipes, a small clearance for a toilet (banjo countertop). And he powered through that and the gas pipe. And then just as he was finishing, Jerry found the leak, from a busted water heater. This is where a new homeowner would just lose it, but Jerry actually went into action and walked us through all the steps from what could have been a project out of control into a well managed upgrade and fix throughout. Not only that, he's a great guy to talk to, even when we newbie homeowners are getting worried and concerned (or plain nosy), and his quote was on the dot (no hidden gotchas, even with the leak). This is my first yelp review after years of reading reviews so you know Jerry was 5 star worthy. He showed up when promised (within an hour of my call) and got right to work. He was quick, clean, and efficient. He answered all my questions and had a fair price for the small project I asked him to work on. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations. When he was finished with the initial project I asked him to work on a couple of extra light switches that we hadn't spoken about prior. He said it would be no problem and got right to work. I first contacted Calgreen a few months ago because I needed someone to inspect the plumbing in the house I was trying to purchase. Jerry was on time and very thorough. He didn't just inspect the plumbing--he inspected the wiring, water heater, and other smaller things. He answered all my questions and gave a few helpful suggestions. When it came time to get my panel box replaced, I had multiple electricians take a look. I chose Jerry because his price was right on with the other electricians, and he gave me the greatest confidence in his abilities. He really, really knows what he's doing and he's good at his job. Jerry replaced my panel box in a few hours. The permit guy from the city came today and said everything looked great! Jerry is punctual, easy going, and very, very capable. Whenever he comes over, I lead him through my house and ask him more home maintenance questions--he's always very patient and he always has a good answer. He even showed me how to install my washer and dryer! He's also just a really nice guy. I am extremely disappointed. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to call Calgreen as first choice, and Mr Electric second. This is Monday morning Sept. 26. Talked to a guy name Jerry. Told him of a small repair job needed but, most importantly, an electrical inspection of my home is what I really need the most because of the age of the structure. I further explain that it is a residential care home for the elderly and I am concern about safety of my residents. An appointment was set for Thursday Sept 29 between 8:30 to 9:30 AM. After 15 minutes, I called Jerry again to ask how could he quote me $150.00 for a complete home electrical inspection when he never asked how big my home is. There must be a difference in charges for a home with 1500. sq ft as opposed to 3000 sq ft. I also asked him what the inspection points are wanting to know how thorough it is going to be. He said he is at a job and busy at the time. He promised to call me back in the afternoon. I reminded him that we have an appointment Thursday, and offered my name and phone number to make sure he knows who he is talking to. "I remember and your phone number is showing on my cell", he said. Well, this bozo never called in the afternoon and never showed up on the day of the appointment. We used them for a couple projects when we first purchased the home. Added electric outlets to our garage, outdoor security lighting, repair of a bathroom fan. The project started soon after accepting bid and materials ordered. The owner and 2 of his workers did the jobs over 2 days. However at the end of the 2nd day, the owner left the site earlier and his 2 workers stayed behind. The problem was his employees spoke little English, and I don't speak any Armenian. So, when they said they were done, one light switch panel didn't work and our communication was an issue. I called the owner and he said he would come back himself at a later date, and fix it. The owner never came back. I called and left message, no return call. I eventually had another electrician troubleshoot and repair the light panel issue. The real problem I have is that one of the security lights stopped working 6 months later. Tried calling again, and left 2 messages, he never called back. Tried texting, and the owner replied he was busy and would get back to us soon, but never responded, even with follow up texting and pics. Owner stopped acknowledging messages and texts. Bad business practices when you don't call your customers back, to repair to your existing work and materials. Leaving a 2 Star, simply because the work that was done initially was satisfactory. The lack of follow up and communication, and bad business practices is why 2 stars is all CalGreen will receive for this review. read more

Went with Jerry and Calgreen to do a 200 amp panel upgrade and a copper repipe on an old house I just bought. I went with Jerry because I was able to get it all done "in one shop" so to speak and the bid was very competitive. But really it came down to Jerry being super nice, super honest, and making me feel at ease about the work that was going to be done. They were able to schedule right when I needed them, his crew worked super hard in the hot weather, crawling around underneath in my crawlspace, and Jerry put up with all my annoying first time homeowner questions. They said it would take 4-5 days and they got done in 3 and a half! Even fixed a bad light switch that wasn't part of the original job. I LOVE this company and Jerry, the owner, is just great! He kept his word, gave me a great price, and worked efficiently and was in communication with me the entire time with regard to placement of lights, etc. Had work done at my moms bathroom and he couldn't have been more fantastic! Jerry, single handedly, installed two 4" recessed LEDs, a new fan vent, added a new box to a wall, installed a GFI, and new switches, moved the hot and cold pipes for a new sink, all by himself and quite contently. His workers were all busy so he came to do the work himself. I have to tell you, he even used our vacuum to vacuum our hallway. His was out of commission for the day but was awesome that after all that work...he was man enough to use our vacuum!! LOL!! I need to update this review because we have used Calgreen for years now and Jerry is STILL THE BEST!! How do you update a 5 star review? Well you don't but as my last review was in 2013.. I thought I would do something more current. He has been my go-to electrical guy for over 8 years... and he is always helpful. I felt bad as I called him to come out today for an outlet that had stopped working outside, only to find out the extension cord we were using for our holiday light display was tripping the ground circuit. It was a matter of changing extension cords. He figured it out quickly and went on his way asking only for a bottle of water. I have used CalGreen on multiple occasions for our company and the jobs have consisted of running a new set of Cat5e cables to a patch panel (which they also installed), replacing Cat3 cables which were poorly put in place by a previous contractor years ago with Cat5e, and most recently, running an underground conduit to our building and into our phone room in order to draw fiber into the building. Jerry and his crew have always gone above and beyond and so far have completed all the projects ahead of schedule. They arrive on site before most people get in and are one of the last to leave. Based on my experience with Jerry and CalGreen, customer service and quality are of the utmost importance. We will continue to use CalGreen for our future projects, in fact we have another one schedule for beginning of 2015. Deeply disappointed. Poor quality work. There were multiple problems in the last stages of the bath remodel. Supposedly another contractor made the small bathroom dirty through the very small window in the bath. Ironically, there was no dirt was on the outside of the window and this was the same day the exhaust fan in the bath was installed and I heard a loud crash from the bathroom that day. When I went to the bath, there was dirt everywhere floor, tub, bath - but nothing outside the window which is where the contractor said the dirt came from. Shouldn't the contractor be responsible for protecting their work space (how hard is it to shut the window?). I was told they would clean the floor, shower fixtures and new bathtub. They did this by using Goof Off so my new vinyl floor is now discolored, the new shower fixture is now discolored and the new bathtub was covered in a gritty film. My husband was fed up when the work was not completed after 2 days of requests so we decided to clean the tub ourselves. When cleaning, we discovered 3 HOLES IN OUR NEW TUB and the seal around the tub was NOT even caulked. If this is what is happening on the outside of the walls, what is happening with behind the walls? read more
