Had a leaky pipe, did a search on Yelp, and several companies responded. FFRD&P said they could arrive in a few hours. Steve, the tech arrived, and said they'd need to replace the pipes. I asked how long it would take and how much it would cost. He wouldn't specify how long it would take, but said it would be $450. I figured at that cost it would take some time/effort so I said ok. Later, Steve said he had to wait for glue to cure and if it was okay if he left to grab lunch. That was less than 45 mins after his assistant, who did all the work, started. So total job consisted of less than 45 mins of labor replacing the pvc pipes and cost was $450. Seemed excessive. When Steve returned, I said we've had a lot of plumbing done by several companies over the years and 45 mins of labor for $450 seemed steep, unless they charge $600/hr. He said it wasn't his fault they work fast. I gave him an out by saying if he looked at me in the eyes and could honestly say that was $450 worth of work, I'd pay it. He said it was.
