Caliber did the inspection on the home I purchased earlier this year and missed huge problems that I am now paying the price for. I was told there was water in the crawl space that could be fixed with a sump pump. This was not true. The problem needed a comprehensive drainage system to be resolved. I was told the roof was in good shape and all that needed to be fixed was cracked vents. Now, I have learned there are shingles falling off, the adhesive is failing, there is organic growth on the underlay and in the attic, nails are popping out. I could go on, but the roof needs to be replaced. I would not have purchased this house if I had known about these problems 6 months ago. Whatever you do, use another inspector. read more

In this housing market it is key to getting home inspection quickly. We needed someone and we needed someone very quick. At 8 o'clock at night Darin was so quick to respond to my Yelp request. I was on the phone scheduling with him within an hour... AT 8 O'CLOCK AT NIGHT. This already blew me away. Now, I don't know if it was a fluke or just how he operates all the time but it was impressive. I had heard previously that home inspections in Bellingham are a joke, and not to expect much. But with my husband being there, I can tell you that Darin is no joke. He arrived on time as scheduled. He moved through the house with a fine tooth comb. In about 3 hours on about 1700 square feet plus a basement, Darin was done and was able to point out the bigger items to my husband. The rest of the report came later that day via email. Wow, this was a home inspection!!! Darin was incredibly thorough and professional. We recently used another home inspector for a friend who was out of town and we were there for her inspection. She paid quite a bit more, and didn't get half the inspection that Darin gave us. He was so competent in his knowledge, explaining to us what he found and what the fix would be! Darin came highly recommended to is by our realtor and I now know why. Let me start with the one negative comment I can come up with just to prove that he is a real person really. Darin texted us 5 am to see if we wanted to discuss his report. OK let me start with we are buying a home in San Diego and still living in Hawaii. So really its not that big of a deal im not even sure he realized it. So here I go on the list of Pros. After a quick trip to San Diego my husband and I decided on a home in the Allied Gardens Area of San Deigo. We are not from the area and have never bought property in California so we had a list of questions. As I'm sure you can tell from my review already I do go a bit Above and beyond so you can just imagine what it looked like. I was surprised when we recived the report back that he had addressed all and more of my concerns about the home without even being briefed. His report was very detailed with many pictures in different angels so that I could see the issues with out being at the home. He even made himself available to go over every line item of his report with us over the phone. He was easy to work with and very informative about his profession. At the end of our conversation I asked him if it would be OK to contacted him with more questions once we moved into the area to ask about the repairs and upgrades we wanted to make to the home.
