The place is gorgeous. Not in the elegant sense but you can't beat "el campo" in Puerto Rico. The mountains, the lushness of the tropics. It's incredible. Beautiful scenery. Quite a tough drive up the mountains to reach it. They have carts that drive you up to the restaurant. Servers were very prompt; drinks and food were amazing. Was a bit of a wait because it was very busy at the time. Live music was nice, but a bit loud. Yankees baseball legend and Grammy-nominated guitarist Bernie Williams and his entourage dined there the same evening as my party. It's always nice to leave the city every now and then and cruise around the island. Naranjito is always a good option for nice views and good food. Calichi gives you both. Great place for families and groups. If you like wine, they have a small but nice wine cellar. They also have a full bar that serves up some good cocktails. Our group ordered a few and they were all hits. Since the restaurant is on a hilltop they have a shuttle for those parked at the bottom. I had the churrasco (skirt steak) with the mash of the day. The steak was well seasoned and cooked just right. The mash had celery. It soaked the meats juices. Tasty. read more

The view up here is spectacular- now add great service, amazing food and Puertorican hospitality and you have the best dining experience! The churrasco (steak) was amazingly marinated and melted with every bite - it was on a bed of rice and beans made completely different than what I knew before. We also ordered tostones (salty and crunchy plantain - savory) and plátano Maduro (sweet plantain) to accompany our plates - an amazing addition! To top it off we had the creme brûlée which is an added bonus to phone home about! For beverages I highly recommend the lavender mule - it's delicious and refreshing! Calichi is a great favorite of mine. It takes me close to an hour drive from the Metro area, because is located in the county side (center of the island) - totally worth it! Service is so great that you may meet the owner while serving customers. Their dishes are international combinations with Puerto Rico typical food, which makes it exciting with wine. The restaurant is a mountain top, very steep - they pickup you up in golf carts, so don't have to worry about. Great food, ambience and experience - highly recommended!!! read more

Location, view, ambient and service all 5 Lots nice spots for great scenery pictures and outdoor seating to be relax either waiting to be seated or after eating and getting ready to drive back to your destination. There is even a golf cart to give you a ride from your car to the restaurant/bar area. Its amazing the beauty of nature among Puerto Rico mountains in Naranjito less than 1 hour from San Juan. The churrasco was a 5 in taste and how tender and soft the meat was cooked. The lamb ribs were also very good and the glaze was a nice touch. However, the halibut was weak in season compared to other places including our own private kitchen. The appetizers needs improvement while the desserts were the cherry on the ice cream. We got there at noon, when it opens. Food was served fast and fresh. The prosciutto fritters were really god. The ribeye was big and on point with a red wine reduction on top and over an Amazing risotto de longaniza (local sausage) . While on vacation in my hometown of Naranjito, my family and relatives went to Calichi Gastrobar. I had heard of the place. One my cousin, mentioned that the place was nice and the food is good but kind of expensive. I didn't hesitate on making a reservation, I wanted bring my son and his wife, which she was visiting Naranjito for the first time. Once, we got to the restaurant we were seated and we ordered some drinks. Afterwards, we ordered the prosciutto and risotto croquettes appetizers. They were delicious! My wife had the stuffed snapper, it was amazing. My son and I got the Kan Kan chops. The skin part was crispy and the meat on the chops were very tender. One of our guests had the gandules risotto, was delicious as well. Calichi Gastrobar is an outstanding place to bring family and friends. You won't be disappointed. Regarding the price, no worries. Amazing place, has beautiful views, excellent people that make you want to come back. Excellent Menu with great options. Food is absolutely delicious, had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection and the Risotto is superb. Dessert options are totally delicious, which makes it difficult to choose.
