Went there for lunch and really enjoyed it. The cinnamon roll was good, not dried out or hard. I got the chicken fried steak, okra and mashed. All came out hot and fresh from the oven. The gravy was awesome and the seasoning on the chicken fried steak was great. The only down was the potatoes were a bit salty, almost too salty. But they were not out of the box, had those awesome pieces of skin mixed in and they gravy tempered the salt back. I ate every bit. The waitress was so sweet! The atmosphere is cozy with antique brick-a-brack, old lamp posts and signs here and there. Plenty of booths and tables to choose from. We came before 5:00 pm to avoid the rush and there were just a handful of parties present. The food was ready quickly and came at optimum serving temperature. The fried chicken was delicious, and the okra was the best we've had in a long time (way better than Cracker Barrel). The pot roast was a bit dry and the dinner rolls a bit yeastier than I prefer. The broccoli rice casserole is nice and cheesy, but could use a bit more veggies. The complimentary cinnamon rolls were a treat! Yelp does it again!! We were driving through Ft Smith on way home and decided to find a new place to eat! Yelp suggested Calico County and off we went. Absolutely delicious! Great home cooking! I had the vegetable plate with Mac and cheese, fried okra, pinto beans and sweet potato casserole topped off with a yeast roll. All of it was fresh and tasty just like grandma made!! The service was also terrific and the building itself was very well furnished with old timey treasures on the walls. The restaurant is not on a main road so Yelp definitely brought us to this place. That is one of the first things that they put on your table. The menu is full of yummy Southern home cooked treats. Their fried catfish is very light and crispy--the corn meal batter is not overpowering. Also the fish is fried to perfection. Their hamburgers are fresh and juicy. Stopped here on a quick visit to Fort Smith. This place is awesome. My daughter had the veggie platter (Monday special). She was quite pleased with her selection. My husband had the chicken livers (not a favorite of mine) and they were quite tasty. I had the small chef salad (was concerned it would not be enough--I could not finish the salad), delicious. This was an absolute gem! We drove from Georgia to Oklahoma for a wedding and stopped for the night in Fort Smith. Since I'm not a fan of hotel breakfasts, we always make a point to find a local spot to dine before getting back on the road. From the exterior this place doesn't look like much, but step inside and the ambience sweeps you into this old school diner feel. The dining room is huge and even has a separate room for larger parties. Our waitress took our drink order and came back with our beverages and put down the basket of cinnamon rolls. What a treat! Spent the night in Fort Smith for a cross country road trip. This place delivered via DoorDash. Holy crap. This food is amazing. And I seldom eat American food. But this is incredible. The cheese sticks are ridiculous in the best way possible. The breading is fantastic. Same for the onion rings. The French dip was excellent too. Just my opinion, but this is the best restaurant in town. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is laid back, the staff are friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Very southern, very American type of food is what they mainly serve, but they do have healthier offerings as well. They serve beer and wine, but they do not have a full bar. Broccoli casserole was a standout. Like my grandma used to make. Those rolls served with dinner were amazing, so fresh and dense. Real butter was a nice touch.
