It's good. Not prize winning good but good . I know they recently won an award for the quack attack pizza in Vegas. So I had high hopes, but this was a let down. It wasn't bad pizza. Pizza Purgatory. Exceptionally poor service, and extremely late pizza. I called for a pizza and ten wings at 6: 30pm for pickup. I was told that it would be ready in 20min. I waited in person at the restaurant until 7:40pm for my order. I tried to cancel my payment and the manager was unavailable for over 15min. I was not alone as the two gentleman before me waited long enough to be upset when they left with their dinners and by the time I left five more people were in line waiting for their orders. read more

Probably the best pizza in the Allegheny Valley. Of special note are their original pizza using duck meat ("The Quack Attack"), roasted peppers with sausage ("The Luca Brasi"--my favorite) and a blend mind-blowing meats and veggies ("Mee-Maw Best Pizza"). While a bit pricy, these are pizzas you'll remember. Calzones, sandwiches, and less fancy pizzas are within local market prices; but Caliente gets top scores for using fresh ingredients. I haven't been impressed with the hoagies; that might be a measure of the bread they use, which is function but not flavorful. Anyways, it's worth a visit. read more

Food came in a timely matter. However you could tell the grease hasn't been changed. Hush puppies were burnt. Not even golden brown, burnt and tasted like old grease. Same with the chicken parm hoagie. Very little sauce or cheese on the hoagie. Couldn't eat it. Tasted like grease. Was very disappointed because I heard all the raves about this place. They offered a 20% off coupon for the next purchase, but there is no way I'm buying from here again. Caliente has moved into the spot where Ordinary Joe's used to be. They've only been open for like a week, but we've already hit them up twice for delivery and once in the restaurant for dinner (don't judge!). It's been a bit of a mixed bag. When we dined in, we tried their pizza and buffalo chicken rolls. The dough they use for their pizza/breads/rolls is definitely distinct...it has a lightness and sweetness to it that makes it stand out from typical Pittsburgh pizza. I think maybe it's a bit less chewy, which I like. Their pizza sauce is a bit on the tart side, but because their crust is sweeter, it actually works well. As for atmosphere, it's pretty similar inside to how Ordinary Joe's was...clean and modern with a bit of a sports bar feel. It was quite busy when we went, and the service was not great (hopefully it's just opening-week kinks that are being worked out). The couple of times we ordered delivery, everything arrived quickly, but the food was more disappointing than it was when we dined in. The cheesy bread didn't come with sauce, and the Italian hoagie lacked Italian dressing (dry hoagie...gross). The buffalo chicken hoagie that we also ordered was not good...way overstuffed with fries, not very much chicken, and drenched with so much hot sauce that it was almost inedible (and I'm a girl who likes her food spicy!) Their fries in theory seem like they would be good (they're fresh cut), but they take no care to keep them crispy during delivery, so when they arrived, they were a soggy mess. Attention to detail seems to be sorely lacking for delivery orders, which is a shame. Anyway, overall, the food was much better during our dine-in experience than delivery, so perhaps we'll stick with that (even though service needs to improve). They just opened, so hopefully things get better as they adjust to their new space. Until then, I can't give them much higher than a middling 3. read more

The Quack Attack is the best $32 I've EVER SPENT ON FOOD. I'm normally a person who eats pizza with a fork 'n knife...but after the first bite, I dropped my utensils because they wouldn't allow me to get the deliciousness in my mouth quickly enough. I love Caliente. The Bloomfield location is amazing and the Hampton location has improved significantly. However, the Aspinwall location doesn't do the brand justice. I fear that the saturation point is near and am very hopeful that it doesn't place a strain on the other locations and lower their quality. Been here a couple times. The food takes a LONG time. Salads took over 20 minutes this evening and the appetizer took 35. Yes, the app came out 15 minutes later. The homemade dressings (ranch and blue cheese) were as thin as water and flavorless. The buffalo chicken rolls had a piece of chicken in 3/6 of the rolls and were very small and dry. The other locations' buffalo chicken rolls are fluffy, doughy, full of filling, and are perfectly cooked with garlic butter on top. Ordered two buffalo chicken salads. Veggies throughout the salad were perfect as they always were. However, the two salads were entirely different. My wife's salad had what I can only guess was the hottest sauce they make. I love hot things and typically order things as hot as they can be made. Even to me, this heat level was at the very top of my scale. Will choose to go to Bloomfield from now on. I have been a religious patron of Caliente in Aspinwall and have enjoyed their pizza (and their broccoli bites until they removed them from the menu) but tonight may be my last time ever ordering from them. I ordered pizza at 5:45 with deliver time of 7:40. It's now 9:21 and the pizza has never arrived. Even with 3 calls and and assurance it was close to delivery. This is the third issue I have had with similar type- once they called and said it would be a wait and did I want to cancel the order (good cusotmer service) and a week ago they called and told me the pizza pizza was done but the delivery person decided not to deliver because it was snowing ( I had been waiting for 2 hours!). By far, the best hoagies in the area. Since discovering Caliente, I won't even think about ordering from anywhere else when it comes to a good sub. Not only is it in red delicious, but it's always consistently well put together with quality product. I have never once been disappointed in this place. I've also ordered the wings, which are always hot/fresh and delicious. Will definitely start trying by other things on the menu. Was happy to find the place was open until 10. When we pick up the order at 9:30pm, they were out of "the normal sized boxes" and gave us the larger sized boxes, but of course the same size pizza. Well it seemed like the cardboard out weighed the pizza, it was so small and light. So when we finally opened it up we were, very very disappointed in the small size pizza. For $55 dollars combined, we expected a lot more food between 2 pizza. The circular pizza was very dry, and it definitely lacked toppings for each topping being 2.79. I want to see the toppings over flowing for that price. The deep dish square tasted good, but it was not "deep" at all, basically a Pizza Hut pan, only 9x9 and 9 cuts. Disappointing. Also very dry crust and lacked heavy toppings for being almost $30. 3 grown men ate all of this and it wasn't close to enough for the night, we had to go get ANOTHER pizza from someone else to be truly satisfied. Very disappointed and we definitely got scammed. Little food for a big price. Seriously $55? Wish I could say we would be, but me and my 2 buddies just won't be returning. This is the first time going to this location (Aspinwall). For my husband & I, I felt more comfortable @ the Bloomfield location. My husband & I grew tired of the staring. If you like country music you'll like it here since that's all that was playing. But, the bartender was nice & attentive. Although, my drink was weak. My husband liked his beer. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. I like the pizza but the crust is a cross between hand tossed & pan. I'm more of a hand tossed gal! If it was just a little less thick I'd love it! read more

Really loved this place. During the pandemic, we were ordering 3-5 times a week online. Only when we called to use the Birthday Coupon, that *THEY* sent us, did they tell us they won't deliver to us. Apparently we're outside their delivery zone. Odd since we've placed *dozens* of orders over the last several months and always tipped very well. Disappointing. I expected better from an award winning place, but since I didn't order the award winning pizza I ended up with a mediocre salad. Start with the steak- when was this prepped?? Ate there Monday: I think the steak was cooked Saturday. Dry, barely warm, overdone, small portion. Salad had 4-5 fries on it - those were not hot either. 2 grape tomatoes, 5 cucumber slices, LOTS of onions and lettuce, and some shredded cheese. Seemed like salad prep was at a minimum, and clearly the fries and meat were prepped way in advance. Service-bartender told us to sit anywhere, after waiting a moment at the hostess station while he simply stared. Could have said hello, can I help you, anything..... After we sat ourselves anywhere we wanted, waitress told us we couldn't sit in a larger area unless we were with a group. Then told us we could sit in the back room which was completely empty and large enough for a group. BTW, at about 40% occupancy-there never was any group! Pizza was good but I've had better. I only ordered here because my regular pizza place is closed on Sundays. My grilled chicken salad was great and so was the ranch but could have used a few more fries ( I counted 6). The pizza tasted like someone dumped a day old glass of red wine on it, my son took the cheese off and gave it to the dog. The service was not so great. I waited on hold for 9 minutes and called back and was able to place my order right away. I went in expecting them to be slammed- there were 2 people waiting on to-go orders and 4 people sitting at the bar. Two employees looked at me and walked away, I paid a server at the to-go pick up spot and she said come back in 5 and when I did she asked if she could help me again. You won't leave hungry! This was only our first time in, but we consider this to be our new favorite pizza place. We visited on a Saturday afternoon, when it wasn't crowded, and ordered wings, cheese bread, and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. The wings were good, but the bread and pizza were among the best we've ever had! Excellent beer selection, and we picked out a few more menu items for next time. The food was average but the service was nonexistent. We started out with a waiter who took our initial drink order but never returned. Thus we flagged down another waitress who seemed flummoxed when we asked her to take our order. Begrudgingly, she did. Service was unreliable throughout dinner. It was nearly impossible to get a drink refill or even extra napkins. The silverware was plastic, which is cheap, classless, and ridiculous (i.e., this wasn't an outdoor picnic affair). And they catered much more to larger parties of ten plus people than they did the two tops. That was disappointing because we would have tipped well if they paid us some attention. Finally, they tolerated classless customers. They did nothing when some kid continuously spiked a basketball up and down the aisles. This is bad parenting and a case of bad parents who spent most of their time texting. But I won't make that the point of my review. Bottom line: My money is as green as the next guy's. It spends anywhere. I won't waste it here. And I certainly won't waste my time trying to flag someone down or twist their arm to get a drink. read more

I work across the street and I was so hoping that this could be a go to place for me. I am not one to complain and in fact last Wednesday when I ordered a steak salad and there was a hair in it I was willing to overlook it, but when there was blood in my salad it was completely gross to me and I did mention it to them. I was happy with the resolution and offering me a salad another day, but unfortunately today's salad also had blood in it. I would never recommend their steak salad for this reason. read more

The pan pizza is tasty... and that's the only reason I dined there 3 times, but the third time will be the last, at least for a while. Other than the pizza positive, there are negatives that point to an utter lack of management attention. First, in each of the three times I've gone there, the bar has been covered with empty glasses, used napkins and plates, and crumbs from the previous customers. Bartenders/barbacks: get it together. Second, plastic plates and plastic silverware. Seriously? Is this an outdoor picnic? Not only is it insulting to your customers, but it also generates an unecessary amount of plastic waste. Owner/manager: get some class and treat your customers better. Third, in each of the three times I've gone there, the men's bathroom has been out of soap. Each time there has been THE SAME nearly-empty dispenser of Dial antibacterial lotion (not soap) with some water added into it in a very weak attempt to cover the fact that there is no soap in the bathroom. My favorite place to get pizza in Pittsburgh! I have only gone the Aspinwall location, and the service and food there has been consistently excellent. The buffalo chicken rolls are amazing and so is the pizza. We usually get the "Pineapple Express" with white sauce and it is soooo good. There are great daily specials for food/drink. Good draft selection and good basic pizzas but dont fall prey to the "grandma" pizzas and the Mee Maw in particular. Not as advertised, overpriced., no truffle or crushed tomato as advertised. Im sure when the primary pizza chef made it in competition it was great but the version we got was disappointing for $32 read more
