Highly recommend this place! Last year I had a MRI on my shoulder. No problems at all and I liked the smaller office setting vs. the hospitals. This year my husband needed an MRI on his knee. We waited over a week for his doctor's office to get approval from our insurance company. With no approval in sight, I decided to make an appointment with CA Advanced Imagining just to get our name in the appointment book. I told Andrea about the wait time for our approval - she got our information and called our insurance and got approval in less than two hours! I'm so grateful for this since my husband has been limping around and in pain for days. I feel that although the doctor's office said our insurance was "pending" and they can take up to 7 business days to approve, I don't think the called it in at all since Andrea got in done in two hours. Husband was in and out in an hour and he's giving the place a thumbs up too. read more

This is the second time I had an MRI by Ben Reese and he could not have made it more comfortable. He is kind, clear in what is to be expected and very professional. So I was referred here by SOAR, same as everyone else. And by referred, I mean that SOAR basically told me to come here, so I don't have much choice. I've had 3-4 MRI's here, the most recent being today. Contrary to the other people's reviews, I've found the staff overwhelmingly friendly and nice. I have never had to reschedule an appointment, nor have I shown up and had the appointment changed/cancelled...so I can't speak to those reviews. Since it's scheduled through SOAR, you make your appointment at SOAR so you don't really interact with CAI's schedulers yourself really. I like that they offer you music to listen to throughout the experience(a very wide variety: rock, country, classical, etc. all kept up to date) and I find the facilities nice and clean. However, what knocks this place down stars is the quality of the MRI itself. I've had MRI's from a number of other places in the bay area and I think CAI's machines are the most uncomfortable ones I've been in. Not to say that MRI's are ever great experiences, but these are particularly bad. The table that you lay on gets completely wobbled when the MRI machine is in action, which causes your arms and hands to become tingly/numb...making it very hard to remain still. If you put your hands on your stomach, with your elbows still resting on the board, sometimes it becomes very painful as the board shakes and irritates your funny bone/arm bones. The board also has a sandpaper like texture to it, so I would say it's quite uncomfortable against my back, even though they lay down paper on it and I'm wearing a gown. It feels like your skin is on gravel. And finally, though it's nice that they offer you music, their headphones are really uncomfortable. Something about the way they hook up to the machine, it's difficult to lay your head straight while wearing them. So often I find my neck in pain as I agree to a kind of awkward head position that I can't move for the duration of the MRI. Basically, this is a fine place but not the best. If I didn't have to go here, however, I wouldn't. read more

I am sad to read many negative reviews about the front desk & billing operation here as the technician is professional caring thorough when I come here for MRIs. The office is convenient on El Camino with free parking. Having gone to the Stanford Radiology (SR) in Redwood City Broadway location too, this is a smaller office & it uses more tools to keep my arm for images, here I get to listen to music of my choice while the huge machine noises sounding around me. No music to listen to @ the SR. The technician gives me a copy of CD of the image without me asking while @ SR I have to walk down a long hallway to a CD library/office, fill out a form, wait for a time before getting a CD. (Don't get me wrong, SR is good too but the billing may be higher too & more steps to get things done as a bigger establishment.) Hope the front desk services will improve to hear new positive feedbacks as the male tech does his good work & small office works fast & efficient. read more

Unprofessional, horrendous service. You can't call them, won't respond to emails. Stay away from them

Most of the front desk personnel isn't friendly. I think what happens is that there are several people that use the desk but only one person that manages appointments and checks in clients and if they've stepped away when you walk in, you'll be ignored by the others sitting there. Appointments can usually be scheduled within the week. I've asked to have a copy of the MRI to take with me and they'll quickly burn a CD for you for a small fee. Billing is usually uncomplicated as they're experience with billing insurance. They have lockers for your belongings so you don't have to leave them out and unattended. The technicians are very nice and do their best to make sure you're comfortable setting pillows for you and getting you music if you like. You can ask to listen to your own smart phone music too. Beds aren't the most comfortable and it looks like they use the pillows over and over without changing the cases so I can't give it more than 3 stars. read more

I agree with the previous reviewers. The front office is utterly incapable of doing their job but they have such an attitude!!! I took my kid out of school for an appointment and when I arrived they told me that he didn't even exist in their database. I showed them screenshots with the dates they called me to make the appointment and the response was that they never make mistakes. Huh??? Who is responsible for this? They can ruin family plans and took the kid out of school and don't take responsibility? At least try to say "sorry, we make mistakes"??? I hate when I have to meet people like this! Office staff was discussing their cats when i went in and i thought that unprofessional. I had the MRI and the technician could not find my vein so i had to go through all of that without the contrast dye. The radiologists seem to know their stuff but they need a professional phlebotomist on board - it was traumatic to endure one hour in the MRI and then have the technician poke my arm while i had an eye mask on my face Creepy and a not-so-great experience And the table is so narrow both my arms fell asleep half way through The sheet you lay your head on did not look fresh or changed just for me I would go elsewhere in the future read more

I have to be honest I was a little nervous coming here based on the reviews. I've had my fair share of MRIs and not all places are created equal. I was scheduled here through Soar and only dealt with their scheduler, so I can't speak about that staff directly. However, everyone I came in contact with was nice. I was seen promptly at my time and taken back. I had my MRI done by Joe who was great. He let me pick my music station I wanted. Got me all situated and then kept me updated on how long each cycle was going to be and how many I had left. He was very personable and calming which is much appreciated. MRIs are never fun but I have no complaints for my services here. read more

My husband's brain scan was scheduled for 2 pm and we arrived 10 mins early and when they called him in it was 3 pm. Every time we checked to see how long it would be before they called him in they kept saying 20 mins and then 5 mins but they were an hour late. The front desk staff was the least professional. All they talked about was what they would be having for snacks and coloring their hair. What they do not understand is that when someone is walking in this place with a brain scan request from a doctor they are nervous and scared to death and they want this thing to be done and over with. They need an answer to their problems soon. We don't need to listen to the staff yapping about their crap. Being late and unprofessionalism only added to our agitation. read more

At 8:15, still not open. At 9:30, the technician to do my 8:30 appointment finally arrived. More than one week later, still no radiologist report. I had to go there because they are part of Aetna's network. Of course, neither Aetna nor California Advanced Imaging actually seem to care about the patient. Definitely a place to avoid as they are understaffed, disorganized, and essentially hopeless. read more

I've been to CAI four times now, for three different MRI's. One time the connector for the body part they needed to MRI was broken, and they quickly rescheduled me for a different time. Every time I've been there the appointment making has been painless (even if the injuries aren't!), the staff have been polite, and the MRI's as easy to bear as they can be. They even have a list of music that you can choose from, to make the MRI process even more bearable! I'm also impressed by how updated they are, as I was given the option of either DVD or film MRI's. I've been to other MRI places that still do only film. Only bad thing? I think that they only do MRI's for SOAR. read more

I will avoid the CA Advanced Imaging because they do not bother to send an e-mail before sending your account to a collection agency. A simple thing could have avoided extra work on both sides. You had my e-mail; why not use it? Your company's billing department could learn to be more compassionate and recognize there could be a problem with a traditional communications channel. Things happen. You have made a very negative impression on this patient. I will seek to direct all of my future MRI needs to another MRI company. read more

HEY STAFF - YOU SHOULD READ THESE!! We experienced the same poor schedule mgmt as noted in other reviews here. Scheduled appt at 5:45 pm - had to manage the brutal South Bay commute and traffic to arrive here 15 mins early. Hubby wasn't called in for his MRI until 6:30pm. Quick turnaround and good staff in Atherton I have now used this facility about 6 times in the last year and have had very good service. Always on time (and that is even for the 2 7:15 appointments I have had). Let me just say I HATE MRI's. I have a panic attack just making the appointment! I am so claustrophobic I need major meds to get through them. The front desk was friendly and helpful. Pretty normal. I got an appointment within a week but sometimes I get them sooner. The reason they get the high scores is Joe, the MRI tech. He is so calm, patient, explains everything and answers any crazy question you ask. He talks to you throughout to let you know exactly how long each phase is going to take so you don't freak. I was there once with another tech who, god knows what happened, when I talked to her there was no answer. I tried for about 15 seconds (which is a really long time when you are in the tube) and finally she came on. I was kind of pissed as she knew I did not do well with MRI's. Joe is OUTSTANDING. And their radiologists are top notch per my doctor who sends me there. read more

If the incompetence of the front office is any indication of the actual imaging services, I would stay away. The person I spoke with on the phone did not know what contrast was when I asked about the MRI I needed done (this is an imaging center). They did not ask a single due diligence question when booking (the other imaging centers I've called ask about prior procedures and metal in the body when scheduling). I booked the MRI and asked if there were any pre-procedure instructions and they said no (it was an abdominal MRI so I should have been fasting). The day after I booked the appointment, I got a call from the same person who said they had forgotten that the radiologist isn't in the office the day I was booked. I felt so uncomfortable and ill-prepared for this procedure, that I cancelled and booked with another facility. read more

There are plenty of quality imaging centers within a five mile radius of this place, so you should avoid it in my view. If you were referred hereby SOAR, it is because SOAR owns equipment at this facility so they get a share of the revenue from imaging exams done at this facility. I have been here a couple of times - the main reason I would never return is that the front office staff is incredibly rude, and their scheduling systems are terrible (paper based only). This means they often screw up appointment schedules and leave you waiting, or with my last trip here, they had not put me on the schedule, so informed me that I could come back in four hours (hard to do on a work day). It was completely their error, but the woman at the front desk could not have been more rude about it - as simple "I am so sorry" would have sufficed - instead I got "do you see the name on the schedule at 8:30? Is that your name? No? Then this is not my problem!!". Literally verbatim. Needless to say I walked out the door and scheduled an appointment for a few days later at a different place nearby. read more

Great place to go if you need an MRI or CT scan. I don't think anyone enjoys having an MRI, but this place makes it a lot easier to get through. The staff is terrific. They are extremely friendly and patient. The facility is very nice, with lots of free parking. Having music to listen to during my MRI really made a difference too. read more

Run away from this horrible place. Rude, unhelpful office staff and unreliable equipment. I turned up on time for 2 separate appointments only to have the receptionist tell me the MRI was down. No advanced call. Both times the receptionist simply looked up and told me the machine was down, no explanation, no apology and only offered to allow me to sit and wait an hour or so. During the second visit the 2 receptionists were discussing their diets and how upset the prior appointments doctor was that they had to cancel his appointment because the machine was down. In addition, the appointment after me called while I was standing there to tell them they would be late because of car trouble and they would be taking an Uber. Their response was "Ok, get here when you can" and never mentioned that their appointment was going to be cancelled. I told my doctor to send me someplace else or find me a referral to a different doctor. read more

Outstanding service all around! This was my son's first visit to CAI and his first ever MRI. The receptionist was young and friendly; certainly appreciated on an early Saturday afternoon. The office was clean and inviting. Everyone worked efficiently and we were not kept waiting without acknowledgment. The gentleman who performed the MRI was informative, lighthearted, and even offered to make me coffee if I chose to stay. I felt very comfortable leaving my son in his care. I was correct. My son was concerned about feeling claustrophobic, but told me the doctor was really helpful and worked with him so he could be successful. The MRI was performed without a hitch and while we waited for the CD to be burned, the doctor setup the World Cup for us on his tablet- if I could give an extra star for that move, I would! read more
