Taco Tuesday $1.99/per taco! I came here to get some tacos on Tuesday and was pleased with my order. They never disappoint and I've been here several times now in the past years! They provide great service especially the drive-thru service and they don't skimp on salsa, even the pickled vegetables they give you. The only thing I'd like to ask them is to lessen the strong cleaning supply smell- I smelled it mostly on the pickled vegetables. The chicken was ok but had an orange looking color to it. I'd prefer the steak over the chicken. Overall, this is a clean and friendly location off of Manzanita and Fair Oaks.

Tuesday tacos $1.99. Carne asada, grilled chicken, lengua x3. Horchata $3.50. 6-7-2022

This summer and fall I decided to partake in California Burrito's Taco Tuesday offerings as it was convenient for me to stop in at this location. With the experience shared in my last review, I paid cash. No mess-ups there. And the indoor dining is open (unsure when they reopened it but for a long time during rona you could only order at the outside window and no salsa bar). The food was solid. The chip, salsa and condiment bar was back open after rona. I love that you can grab a flap top baggie to grab your pickled zanahorias (carrots), jalapenos and onions and fresh radishes. The white sauce is delicious. The tomatillo sauce is solid. The pico de gallo is a must have. The red sauce is hot. The chips are okay but I'll forego because there isn't any woman alive over age 30 that needs that kind of carbs. The price was still solid at like $2-2.50/each taco. Traditional taqueria taco with 2 corn tortillas, onions and cilantro. Delicious! As always, parking here is tight but normal size vehicles should find a spot to park. And there is a covered patio as well as indoor seating. Though I enjoy taking it to go.

Is that normal? I bought it yesterday around 11:30 p.m. Why is there so much rice? I ordered a birria burrito. Usually, in other places, it's more than half meat. This one is almost all rice -- it's completely full of rice

It was almost 9 p.m., and we wanted a bite before driving for a couple of hours. We had never been to California Burrito and were surprised at the excellent quality and reasonable prices. They also have a complimentary salsa bar. Their drive-through is open 24 hours. The only thing I didn't like was that they served their food in styrofoam.

This was supposed to be a cheese enchilada, which was not cooked.

We paid over $40 for two plates and one birria taco from this place. I'll start with the Birria taco. it was mush like it had been cooked hours before it was given to me and just sat there soaking up the juice and the tortilla was so mushy. I couldn't even pick it up. When I opened my box to eat my cheese enchilada and my crispy shredded beef taco, I was disappointed to find that my cheese enchilada was not even cooked and my shredded beef taco was actually a burrito of some sort with dried out beef and raw vegetables in it with no sauce or cheese or anything else. See the attached pictures for this monstrosity of dinner that cost way too much and I wasn't even able to eat. The only reason I'm not giving them just one star is because my boyfriend's dinner was edible. He had a chili rellano plate. These guys should be ashamed of themselves.

I paid $20 for a combo with carnitas and two sides of rice this is the receipt

They have the best burritos in town. Their lingua burrito specifically is the best that you will find anywhere. And the staff is friendly.

Our first impression was a cool, small, and family owned business, plus the owner was very nice and helpful. We got a few things to try, and we were not disappointed with any of it. We got a torta, burrito, papusa, tamale, and a churro to try. The torta was super good, the al pastor was seasoned well and super juicy, definitely recommend them if you like tortas. The burrito was good, and it was super filled and super large. Definitely recommend getting a burrito if you're a hungry lad. The papusa was one of the best papusas I've had around this area, super flavorful with a slightly crispy outside. It also had an insane cheese pull, definitely recommend trying one of these. Lastly the tamale was amazing, it was packed with flavor and one of the better tamales I've had in a long time because it was actually moist and not dry and overcooked. Another big recommendation from me. Overall if you're in the mood for some Mexican food please go here and support an amazing local business. Tamales and Papusas are a super recommended!

Complimentary corn tortilla chips, salsa, and refried bean dip with cheese. I loved the REFRIED BEAN DIP! I ordered the Steak a la Chicana. I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. It's located on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights near See's Candies and other restaurants.

This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. Thank you to the manager and owner for making it right.
