I've ordered this a few times over the phone to my work. The first time, I got a California burrito. I felt that burrito was not balanced- a bit dry.. although I know if has potatoes in that probably makes it drier. The next time, i wanted to give another chance with an asada super burrito. The size was decent. I could split it with two people. However, i still felt like something was missing and it was not a balanced burrito that I hope to get from a burrito place. I finally tried this place out by my house. It was pretty good, I ordered a chicken super burrito. For the most part the burrito was good. I noticed a piece of corn in my burrito. When I asked about the corn, they said that they put corn in their rice. They did offer to remake it for me without the rice, but I just kept the original burrito. I do hate corn, but luckily they don't put too much of it in the rice, so it wasn't too bad. I would come back here to try some other things. read more

Came in today for a late lunch / early dinner with my husband he got a huge beer and I got a watermelon margarita and he got a huge burrito wet and I got the chile relleno plate with flour tortillas. The service is always good and they always make sure we're well taken care of. The restaurant and bar area are always clean. Stopped in here for lunch yesterday. I'd never eaten here before but the people I was with eat here often. I ordered my standard item at Mexican restaurants, a carnitas chimichanga. It's not cheap and basically arrives ala carte. Don't get me wrong, the thing was HUGE but I would've been happy with a smaller one with some refried beans and some rice. I didn't see anything like that on the menu, but maybe it's an option. The taste was good, but definitely not my favorite chimichanga in town. I'm also not a big fan of their house tortilla chips. I did love the way the restaurant was decorated and the speed that our orders came out. It was a good experience, but not my best. read more

Delicious Mexican food! We came in very hungry after a long travel day. They have a huge dining area with lots of seating. There's a fresh salsa bar with several fresh/house made salsas and cremas.. We really liked everything we tried. Food came out quick. Veggie burrito, nachos and hubby tried huevos rancheros. Come on El Bacon, not everyone eats chile, especially melt your face off HOT chile!! I ordered this Super Burrito regular style and it was too hot and spicy to eat! Disappointed. Called ahead and was put on hold, Julius never came back to the phone, I walked into the restaurant while still on hold. When I told her she did not apologized and laughed it off. I placed my order clearly and carefully and it came out wrong, despite looking accurate on the receipt. Because of the phone issue I made sure to check the order before I left. I think they just expect you to accept if the order was wrong and move on. Well that's not how it works, she wasn't too happy when I told her about the wrong order and scoffed as she walked it back to the kitchen. Needless to say I am probably not going to give them my business again. Taqueria Cantaritos is just down the street and they haven't failed me yet. Also, she took another call while I was waiting for my order and put them on hold, I don't think she ever got back to them either. My brother and I came here when we couldn't find the Mexican taco truck we were looking for. We were so happy we came here. We both had carne asada super tacos. The meat was seasoned so well. It was amazing! My brother is from Oregon and he was impressed with the chips and salsa bar that you aren't charged extra for. I did enjoy the cactus salsa which you don't get often. Hands down one of the best places and my all time personal favorite in Sacramento for great Mexican food. They have the best salsa bar in town. We usually get the tacos, burritos, and tortas and they are very flavorful. The staff is SUPER FRIENDLY and the place is always really clean . I love the food here and the staff and the ambiance. I was at the EvGo charging station and I saw this restaurant. This is a good taqueria but nothing special. I liked the chips and salsa bar, and they have serve yourself soft drinks, so free refills. I had a pastor super burrito. It was more like a carnitas burrito though. I didn't detect any Al pastor flavor in it. I'm probably spoiled by some of the outstanding taco trucks in my area. If I ever stop here again I would definitely try a different meat than pastor, like carne asada. read more

So glad I decided to check this place out. I was randomly in the area and was looking for a good Mexican restaurant. The employees are friendly and there's lots of indoor seating available. They have a great salsa bar and you can serve your own chips in a basket. I ordered the molcajete and it came sizzling and smelled delicious. It has shrimp, chicken, chorizo, steak, cheese and so much more. It also comes with a plate of guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and tortillas. I definitely had leftovers, but it was worth it. Let me say that I am extremely picky when it comes to Mexican food, being from the East Bay (very large Latino population). We have been eating here at least 1x a month for years now. We have tried a lot of items on the menu including the handmade tamales- YUM!!! I recently tried their chile relleno and really loved it! The sauce was creamy and not too spicy, no seeds in it (I don't mind seeds, but a lot of gringos do) and no stem. What I really love is their El Blacon salsa! They should jar it and sell it, it is soo good!! This is one of our regular spots. There are not a lot of great Mexican Taquerias near us in CH. My Mother, whom is 75, is not very mobile and she still manages to get into this place! She loves their food that much! There has not been anything we've tried that we didn't like. If you are vegetarian this place cannot be trusted. We just moved to this area and have ordered from El Balcon several times now. Their food has been decent until tonight. I ordered several items that were DoorDashed, specifically ordering vegetarian, and requesting vegetarian beans. I got a few bites in and found pieces of meat. I don't know if it was intentional or carelessness, but I won't be giving them my business again. I'm throwing everything away. DoorDash would only refund $13 for the food contamination. read more

The chips & salsa bar was pretty fantastic. We had a variety of different foods- enchiladas, asada fries, tacos, shrimp plate, & a burrito. This place is closer to a 3.5 star, but we gave them the extra half star. Of course I read the Yelp reviews prior to eating here, and they were definitely mixed. This place don't deserve any stars! The Camerones Monterey were so over cooked they were inedible and had no flavor. The shrimp were the size of a small bay shrimp.
