This is near the Milagro Center in Citrus Heights and this is a Hidden Gem for a great Mexican food. . I got to try out there Blackberry mojito which was really refreshing and I do love the fresh homemade BlackBerry concentrate. . I also really like their mangonada which is a blended-up drink and I love the fresh mangoes in it. . I started off with their brriria tacos which had nice chunks of beef and a really nice sauce to dip in it as well follow along with cilantro and onions for the topping. . I really like their fish and shrimp ceviche which was really refreshing and it was a big platter and it is great for sharing. . We also got to sample the enchilada three flavors with a mole which was on a sweeter side. Also we got a red and green sauce enchilada. For the proteins we got one cheese and one chicken and one spicy pork. The protein ones was really good even the cheese one was cheesy as well. . I really like their fish taco and shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was actually grilled to Perfection and has really nice top shredded lettuce and cheese. The fish taco was grilled and it was good as well and I like how it was fresh. . They also have cilantro and lime rice and it was very zesty flavorful. We also started off with some kind of asada fries and it has a really nice cheesy pull and toppings on top. . For the dessert we had churro and ice cream with lots of whipped cream and sprinkles. I really like the churro because in the middle it was filled with some cinnamon cream and it was really good. . Overall the experience was really great and we love the service because it was really friendly and quick on their feet with refilling our water and bringing our drinks quickly. The Ambiance and the hair is very family and cozy and it is really cute with a nice stage on top. There is cozy Booth where you can just enjoy with your family or your date. For Cinco de Mayo they are doing a big celebration with Mariachi and Aztec dancing as well. read more

Worse experience I've had in a long time. Service was horrible he didn't care about us at all. Any time I asked for anything he never came back with it. I explained to the man I'm a server too. Hoping he'd be like oh okay! And treat us better but no. Place was pretty slow. So I wasn't expecting the food to come out super late. It took over 35 minutes... so we asked for it to be Togo. I asked for a nacho plate shrimp plate and a birria taco appetizer I asked for my tacos to be crispy it was far from it. I should've checked the bag before leaving but he didn't even put our nachos in the bag. So my bill was 100 (not including the tip I still left) and didn't even get all our food and just three beers. Place is beautiful atmosphere but horrible food and service. Will never go back read more

My husband and I frequent Cantina Azteca in Carmichael because he absolutely loves it here, and we usually have a great experience. This time started off a little rough, but in the end they made it right, which is why I'm writing this review. I placed a to-go order for steak, shrimp, and chicken fajitas. The order was repeated back to me correctly when I called it in. When I arrived to pick it up, the restaurant was extremely busy and the staff was clearly focused on serving the diners inside first, so my order took about an extra 25 minutes. Not ideal, but understandable given how packed the restaurant was. Unfortunately, when we got home and opened the bag, the fajitas only contained steak -- there was no chicken or shrimp included. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to explain what happened. At first there was some back-and-forth about possible solutions, including bringing the food back or only replacing part of the order. My husband had already started eating because he was hungry, so returning the food wasn't really practical. To the manager's credit, she took the situation seriously and actually called the owner at home to explain what had happened. Shortly afterward she called me back and let me know the owner approved remaking the entire order correctly at no additional cost. That completely changed the experience. For me, good customer service isn't about the money -- it's about making things right when a mistake happens. Once they stepped in and corrected the situation, it showed they value their customers and their reputation. Mistakes happen at every restaurant, especially when things are busy. What matters is how a business responds. Cantina Azteca ultimately did the right thing, and because of that we will absolutely continue to come back. We've been here several times. Our first was during Covid and we ordered delivery it was so good we've kept coming back. This time I had the Birria tacos. They were excellent with a cheesy crunch on the tortillas and delicious birria dip. My wife had the mix burrito with Al pastor and it was also great. Carlos has served us multiple times and he is always right on top of things. The decor of the restaurant is an Aztec and Mexico theme. Bathrooms are clean and smell sanitary. Still not a bad place for happy hours, but just not as great of a deal as before. The Mexican taco plate said 3 tortillas with choice of meat. Ok. So I know I just posted a couple days ago, but we came in today to eat and try a Moscow Mule made by Carlos (I know it doesn't belong in a Mexican restaurant, but it is my favorite drink). This was in my top 3 Moscow Mules I have had. This was very close to the best ever that I had in a high end bar in Las Vegas. It was soo well balanced and delicious . Our food again was amazing. All of the flavors here a rich and deep. We ordered the same as last time, the enchiladas trio and chili rellenos. We had forgotten we were going to try the fajitas next . Had gone into this shopping area looking for the Sushi restaurant. Closed. Noticed this place and headed towards it. We could hear the Mexican music playing and instantly loved it. It was really busy, but we were seated and brought menus, chips and water right away. Our waiter was fabulous and very courteous. We also noticed that the waiters and waitresses all help each other with all the customers. I had the Mexican Shrimp Salad that was so delicious. I had enough to take home for tomorrow's lunch. The broth was the best I have ever tasted. My husband had the Carnitas fries and a piece of Flan. He loved both. Prices were a bit on the high side for some of the dishes, but we felt it was definitely worth it and come back next time we are in this area. read more

I'm very disappointed for the price. I ordered fajitas ($40), and a super wet burrito ($25) and it really was a meal that should've been $30 tops. In my burrito I asked for just refried beans, meat and cheese, no rice or fajita veggies and my burrito had that, but was small and consisted of one small smudge of beans. I paid $25, you can at least replace the other ingredients I removed for the others I asked for. And the fajitas were very basic, nothing special. The meat was very fatty and came with three tortillas for $40.. The food did not taste bad, but seriously! That should be a crime to charge so much for such a basic meal. If you want to pay twice as much as another Mexican restaurant for the same food, come to cantina Azteca. I really enjoyed eating here in person before, but I won't ever order to go again. read more

Wanted to try this place and got the chance since we were in the area. I ordered the prime fajitas. It was okay but it was not that much in terms of food portion and since I generally don't like bell peppers, this dish was not for me. It tasted good though. The location is alright. It's in the heart of Fair Oaks surrounded by many other businesses and shopping centers. It's about as suburban as you can get. There is a parking lot so that should not be an issue. We came in a large party so it was expected that the service would be alright. They were able to split the check which was awesome. The food came out in a reasonable time, about 15-20 minutes. The prices are about average for a restaurant. Expect to walk out of here for around $40 for a meal for two. The flavor was decent. Nothing to ride home about but also not bad. Just that sweet spot where the meal was filling and enjoyable. Their horchata was delicious and I quite enjoyed their rice. The only issue we faced was that our meal came with a topping that we asked to not be included. Might have been an oversight or a simple mistake, but on the "re-fry" it was wrong again! Coming from a restaurant background, I understand that mistakes happen so I'm not going to let it ruin my experience. Bottom line/TLDR: about average Mexican food restaurant. read more

We used to LOVE this place. We would come every week. They started charging for chips and salsa and that's when we stopped coming. The prices on everything else were already steep (which didn't deter us because the food is great) but chips and salsa are supposed to be part of the experience of dining at a Mexican restaurant. Haven't been back in almost a year. So maybe if they stop charging for the chips/salsa it would be enough to make us come back. I picked up a steak quesadilla to eat while I waited at the dmv. I ordered right when I arrived and the meal was ready in less then five minutes. The host who helped me was very pleasant and friendly shout out Yasmin I believe. After opening my meal I realized she had included guacamole, salsa, chips, sour cream and another sauce I couldn't place a name to. It was awesome to have all the fixings without even asking. We love Cantina Azteca! We usually order through DoorDash, and the food is always delicious with generous portions, but we recently went in for my father-in-law's birthday and it was just as amazing in person. We've had the Fajita Quesadillas and the Chile Pasilla, both packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. My in-laws ordered the enchiladas and raved about them too. The service here is attentive and swift. We were seated immediately. We navigated the menus put in front of us looking for the well marked vegan items. The chips were nice and crispy with salsa the had a good amount of heat. I liked that the refried bean were not overly salty. Our entrees were lukewarm which was disappointing. Next time I will remember to have them leave off the vegan cheese as it's more for looks than taste. There is Tapatio hot sausage on the table and we both used it as the sauce was fairly bland. Just discovered this gem not too long ago and since the first time i knew id be back! Me & my man are foodies and we LOVE this place. The food is fire their service is 10/10 the art work/scenery is really lovely inside i love my culture perfect for date night. So far we have tried their molcajete couple times and they dont miss lol , even their cheeseburger was bomb !!! & those birria tacos they could be a bit cheesier and crunchy to my liking but the flavor is there ! Our fav has to be their mango marg pitcher it is a tad bit pricey but i think its reasonable for how many you get & its really good & strong but not over powering. Their whole menu has really reasonable prices especially for their big portions. Since this place is really good and now one of our go to spots we checked out their breakfast/brunch location called the Brunch corner and it is just as good !!! Love this place. You probably drive past this like I do and say one day over and over again. Saturday was the day for me and my friend. We've been to another business in this shopping center, but it's usually more in the evening time and there was parking. Parking on a Saturday is no joke. It's rough out there on a Saturday for brunch time. Once you get a spot, success to the mecca of the cantina. Very much cute vibes inside. There is bar seating and a large dining room. People were chatting, munching on chips and salsa, and adding to the great environment. Staff is super friendly and nice. Before you even order the bring chips and two salsas. Yum yum to the sour cream salsa, it even had a little kick. I ordered a vampiro because, who doesn't need a boost to your immune system. My friend ordered a Michelado. For food I got the omelet and he got the pozole. He recommends it. The omelet was good, I think I should have gotten a different dish. I've been eyeing that they have unlimited mimosas, that was one of the big sellers of coming. Wow, not disappointed at all. They brought us both pitchers. They even have vegan options here.
