I have had my California Closets for almost 20 years and have been pleased with the quality and the durability. Earlier this year, I noticed that the laminate had come away from one of 4 cabinets and I was surprised and worried. I went to the CDM store as a walk in and talked to a very lovely woman who understood what I was talking about and said that C.C. stands behind their product and would help me. A sevice man came to my house to assess the issue and took the door (on the far right of the finished photo) and said I would be hearing from someone from the company. Chloe and then Valerie followed up by text and said that the original laminate had been discontinued and the technicians were finding a suitable finish to match my closet. I was concerned naturally . We all decided to redo the 4 doors in the same finish so the substitution would not be noticeable. This past Friday, Rodrigo and Jason arrived at my house with the 4 doors and installed them. I was happily surprised how well everything matched and how expertly Rodrigo and Jason installed the doors and how California Closets honored their warranty and service. The designer came out and did measurements and assured me they can design something to meet my needs. made appointment for the design review for following week. Then no more news, no reply to my email. I called her the day before the scheduled meeting, she said according to the engineers, they can not custom anything that fits my space. I then reached out to the manager, who basically said she was even surprised the designer got back to me so soon, I informed her it was I reached out to her. I think it will be nice if I was informed if the meeting is canceled . I think it is quite unprofessional for both the manager and the designer to not bother to inform me of the issue. read more

So so disappointed with my experience. Not one, but two missed appointments unfortunately shattered my confidence in the company. I scheduled an appointment online for two closets, which they called to confirm. All set for an 11am on a Saturday (with additional email confirmation). At 11:15am, no one was at my house so I called and the office/scheduler said the person meeting me (Linda) was driving and unable to talk to me, but thought our appointment was at noon so she would meet me then. I couldn't meet at noon however, so we rescheduled for Monday at 2pm. I received another email confirmation for our scheduled appointment. Monday at 2:15pm, a new person calls (Antonio), and asks if our appointment was at 2pm or 3pm. I said it was at 2pm, but it's now 2:15pm. He said that he wasn't close by and could be there at 3 and also it said 3pm in the system. I texted him a screenshot of my email confirming 2pm. I spoke with the office/scheduler next, who apologized and didn't have an explanation. The gentleman followed up with a text, that 2pm was, in fact, correct but he could come later... which unfortunately was another appointment missed. Saddened by the experience and lack of respect for other people's time. read more

Everyone from the designer (Emily Haradon) to the installer (Andrew) this job and all past jobs has been responsive, organized, efficient and knowledgeable. I so appreciate that they always leave the job clean and tidy. If anything needs an adjustment they return to fix it, even years later. We had some shifting in our cabinets due to our home settling over time. They returned to fix it at no charge. The customer service they offer is rare these days. I wish I had read the disappointing reviews BEFORE I went with California closets. I thought going with a business so well known, I would be treated with fantastic service. Opposite. They don't care. My rep was awful at follow up (also quite rude-as if I wasn't the CUSTOMER). They initially installed my closet the on opposite walls of how it was supposed to be. Then took their sweet time to fix their screw up. Pricing was ridiculously high. They try to sneak things in to the quote so make sure you ask for the entire breakdown of your design. Overall, I just had the worst experience. The sad part is, I've wanted to use California Closets for like 10 years and finally was able to build and design my dream closet and they let me down. read more

Total waste of time, terrible customer service, not professional. My closet expert was Neda Imanikhanghah in Corona Del Mar show room. She came to my home gave me a proposal that did not address all of my needs. I came to the show room at her request to discuss it with her and to see the materials that we were going to be used in my closet. She REFUSED to show me the materials I had chosen ( they were basic white)! She showed me upgrades only. We sat down to discuss my plans. I told her the hanging clothes were the wrong amount of inches she disagreed. She offered me coffee (never got it) instead she got up left me sitting at her desk to help a couple who walked in the door. She said they were 3 hours late but now they had arrived, she would call me! I'm still in shock... what a waste of my time. Never heard from her again. I have now spoken to other companies recommended on yelp. I am still in shock at my treatment. I have researched closet materials and they are all very similar so why pay more for a name and inept help. read more

From start to finish, an enjoyable experience. I got a call-back within a day or so of me submitting the online inquiry. My designer set up a mutually-convenient time. She was on-time and really great to work with. The two spaces we worked on were pretty simple, but needed to be organized. Our designer asked great questions about usage, amount of clothes / dishes and worked with me while we went through a few iterations to get it just right. The estimate was in line with what our designer had suggested, and we scheduled a time for install. I thought about doing the install myself...an option... And we ultimately decided that the pros should do it. And a good thing, too. Two guys, Justin and Matthias, showed up on time for the install appointment. They donned little blue booties for the initial walk-through, and then put down protective gear over the wood floors. Matthias took the upstairs closet while Justin took the downstairs kitchen pantry. Both guys were pleasant, courteous, efficient, and cleaned the spaces when they were through. Oh, and the professional install? It took them 3.5 hours to complete both spaces. It would have taken me 7 hours to complete each. Well worth the modest savings I might have enjoyed. I actually "hang out" in my closet--yes, hang out there--just because it's so nice. The designer did a fantastic job and really took into account my specific utilitarian needs as well as design aesthetic. The design is particularly impressive because I have a curved wall at one end of the closet. The designer came up with the brilliant idea of putting a full-length mirror (which I already owned) on that curved wall so that it would not be an entirely wasted space. It looks amazing and actually makes the curved wall functional. The installers were professional, nice, and really knew what they were doing. They kept me informed of every little question or issue they thought they might have and even helped me hang a full length mirror that they were not even required to deal with under the contract.
