I had a good experience with California Cockers. I contacted them while looking for a male chocolate cocker spaniel. Summer, the owner/breeder, told me that she had litters being born July - September. She said her chocolate liter was coming in July (about 30 days following my first contact with her). Summer asked that I provide her a $300 deposit so I could be put on the "reserve list" for a puppy. The $300 deposit was to be applied to the cost of the puppy. The puppies were born and it was after the birth that I found out that my $300 deposit put me on a list for a puppy. It didn't reserve me a puppy, it reserved me a place on a list. That was not made clear. I think that's an important distinction that deserves to be made crystal clear to a buyer. It wasn't. California Cocker refunded me my deposit and I sincerely appreciate the fairness and understanding that the company showed me. Am I sad I didn't get the puppy I was so looking forward to? Yes! But with my deposit back I can search elsewhere. This is a good company and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them in the future. read more

In 8/31/20 my family lost our 13yr 3mon Cocker Bella, she was my shadow- my baby aside from my 3 children. I reached out to California Cockers, I had questions and explained about loosing our girl - Summer offered her cell number and answered every single one with kindness and so much compassion. Dec 2020 came.... not sure if I was quite ready but my family certainly was. I messaged Summer with questions on how the deposits work and how secure they were, we used Paypal and everything worked out just perfect. March 20th we took the 3hr drive to pick up our sweet girl whom we named Halia - meaning "Remembrance of a Loved One". We were in Cocker Heaven we met mommy, daddy and all the others- Summer and her husband were so.... welcoming and explained all details with Halia. I have stayed in contact with Summer and I send her pictures often- We Are Forever Grateful For Summer She Is An Excellent Breeder who Loves Every Single One Of Her Cockers & Babies. This is a long overdue review of California Cockers I bought my handsome, smart and sweet Chocolate Cocker Spaniel from Summer in December of 2020. We waited a few months for him after the initial deposit. When my husband and I drove up to Tulare we were greeted by a pack of adorable friendly Cocker Spaniels. Summer and her husband were very hospitable when they introduced us to our special boy ( Charlie Brown) and gave my husband a little tour of the grounds. They were very professional and provided us with all the information necessary to keep our boy happy and healthy. Summer also responded quickly to any questions I had prior to and after pick up of our puppy. Charlie Brown is great with other dogs and our young Grandchildren. Not a mean bone in his body. I highly recommend California Cockers. They are reputable breeders and you will end up with a beautiful Cocker Spaniel with a great temperament. read more

At first when we contacted Summer she was very nice and communicative in June and told us puppies were being born first two weeks in July. We had no preference as far as color and gender and were told we would have no problem getting a puppy to take home mid September based on our preferences and gave her a $300 deposit. We tried reaching out to Summer just after the puppies were suppose to be born around 7/16 to check in and left a voicemail. After a couple of days with no response we tried texting her....still no response. We starting to getting nervous after almost 2 weeks went buy without her answering our calls or text messages. We finally got frustrated and said we would like our money back or we would call the better business bureau..and all of a sudden we got a response very fast. We were told that she was too busy to call or text because she was going in order of people on her list...either she takes way too many deposits and deals with a lot of people or she picks and chooses whom she calls back. Take it for what you will but we ended up getting our money back and finding another breeder. read more

Ok, so I waited 3 years to write this. I have owned cockers most of my life. I adore the breed. When I contacted Summer and told her I was looking for a puppy. She did not hesitate to invite me to her place and look at her pups. I was so impressed with how clean everything was. And a set up that was geared completely to the care of her dogs. My heart melted a little when she told me that when her dogs get to old to breed. She retires and keeps them as a part of the family. Awesome . Now the puppy I bought has grown to be healthy smart and one of the sweetest cockers I've owned. The temperament of this dog is amazing. And when I brought her home at 8 weeks. She had already been taught to use the dog door. I am so in love with this dog that I've been thinking seriously about going back and getting her a baby brother.
