I've given Tulare Veterinary Hospital multiple chances, but I've had awful experiences each time. The first time I visited, I tried to be understanding. I have a dog with behavioral issues, and I was seeking professional guidance. Instead, the vet pushed immediately for anti-psychotic medications without much conversation. I liked the general environment and found most staff pleasant, but the vet's attitude stood out--in a bad way. On our second visit, it got worse. The vet avoided speaking to me directly, communicating only through the nurse. They also refused to do basic procedures--like anal gland expression--due to my dog's anxiety, without offering solutions to help manage it. What really upset me was the vet's clear bias against French Bulldogs. He made snide remarks, showing a stigma toward the breed. All dogs deserve equal care, regardless of breed. I felt judged simply for having a French Bulldog. To top it off, they added unjustified charges to the bill. When I requested an itemized breakdown, the bill magically got cheaper, which made it clear they had padded the initial charges, hoping I wouldn't check. I will never go back. If you have a French Bulldog--or frankly, if you value fair, professional care--I would not recommend Tulare Veterinary Hospital. read more

do not take your pet here! only gave 1 star because i had to but they should have negative 10 stars! i took my cat to them for a broken leg was told it needed to be amputated and they could do the surgery the following day. my cat never made it home. they said she did find thru the surgery but died after wards. the next day they called my daughter admitting they did stuff they wouldnt normally do and that it shouldnt of been done cuz they know how small she was and said the dr agreed not to charge us the 2500 dollars for the procedure. a broken leg and now our cat is dead becuz of them. i am so upset i choose to go to them i should have read the reviews first. please do not trust them with ur animals u will regret it like me. read more

If you have a French bulldog prepared to be discriminated against by the vet. He hates French bulldogs and always makes unprofessional comments to myself and my wife about our dog. He will always push meds and never really listen to what we have to say. We never have contact with the vet until he comes in to be rude about my dog having anxiety. The staff is kind. But the constant rude comments and push for meds instead of informing us what the cause of the problem is leaves us wondering how we can help our pet. Watch out for random charges on bill. The vet is quick to refuse care for a dog, but also very quick to accept payment. Never going back. read more

Instead of recommending spending more time with the pup, they schedule a follow up appointment, knowing what was wrong with the pup. The poor pup died the day after the first appointment. I'm honestly heartbroken by how things were handled here, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone -- especially if your pet is sick and you're counting on real care and compassion. My 3-month-old puppy has been fighting distemper, and I've spent hundreds of dollars trying to help him -- including several visits to this clinic. At our most recent appointment, I had a scheduled time at 2:00 PM, but we weren't seen until around 3:30 PM, after I should up 20 mins early to that apt even though he was clearly in pain, crying, and unable to stand due to a swollen and tender elbow. I paid $300 for X-rays, but instead of giving me clear answers, the vet listed off vague guesses -- maybe a sprain, maybe septic arthritis, maybe a joint infection -- but no real diagnosis, no treatment plan, and no follow-up support. They didn't even give me the X-rays until my husband called and pushed for them. What upset me even more was how they treated my puppy after the X-rays. Instead of giving him right back, they put him in a kennel -- and when I finally got him back, he was completely covered in feces. He's potty trained and never has accidents like that, so I know he had been left scared and ignored. He was smeared in it, and all they gave me was a puppy pad and a few wipes after I asked for them to clean him up myself -- no apology, no explanation. Then, when I went to pick up his medications, I found out they were supposed to give me 2 weeks of antibiotics, but only gave me one week and still charged me only $10 less than the full 2-week cost because they didn't have them in stock. . On top of that, they only gave me half the amount of pain meds the first time and told me to cut them in half. That should have been my first red flag -- it felt like I was being overcharged while being under-treated. At this point, I truly believe they're more focused on charging people than actually helping animals. I feel used, heartbroken, and beyond disappointed for trusting them -- especially after how many chances I gave them to do right by my puppy. Now they want me to come in for a "very serious talk," but it honestly just feels like they've already given up on him. I'll be finding a new vet. Because I'm not giving up on my dog -- even if they already have. read more

My dog got his eye bit so I took him here. Everyone was so nice and calm. Which kept me calm. He ended up needed his eye taken out. I didn't have the funds right away so they helped me apply for Care credit. So we got him fixed up and I came back the same day to pick him up. Great service. I called ahead of time and was told the first client visit was 58$ w/t a complimentary dewormer. When I arrived, they did a consultation and took my puppy in the back to be checked on. I wanted to go back with them but it didn't seem they were taking people back there???. Then they asked for a stool sample. I had to ask all the questions about side affects, how much they gave her, how to prevent this from happening again etc. Im a new dog owner so I assumed they would give me a brochure or more information about deworming dogs. I checked out and the total was not the 58$. Front desk told me that they charged for the stool sample. But another client in the waiting room had a breakdown of the charges he was getting and was even asked if that price was okay. I got eyes rolled at me cause I complained no one told me what I was paying for like the other gentlemen in the room. End of the story, they don't ell you how much everything is until the end, staff is really unprofessional, ( front desk receptionist was on Pinterest / Shopping the whole time), When I told her I didnt want the stool sample, I got eyes rolled at me & I had to ask for a brochure on how to take care of my puppy. My puppy was hit by a truck at 6am I drove down to Lone Oak got there at 7:30 when they opened. The lady sitting at the desk was the rudest lady I have ever met working at a vet. She was appalled that I brought my little Deebo in to be seen. Her words were "I can't see him, I couldn't do that to my other patients." As nobody else was there!! So I frantically get on the phone and Call TVH. The ladies at the front desk were a delight. They said that the Dr. Was in surgery but to bring him in asap and he would see him. Very disappointed, took my dog in because she pregnant to get a ultrasound, (she's already been pregnant for about a month and a half) they stated that the puppies are too "mushy" to tell how many and she has about another month. Two weeks later she had her puppies. so basically $170 to tell me my dog is pregnant (which we already knew) and told us she had another month when it was really two weeks. I was so unprepared because I thought I had more time for my shipment of puppy items to come in. They will not be taking care of my dogs ever again. I took my dog in for a second opinion for swelling he had on his neck. When I called them and mentioned what was going on with him they were able to see him right away that same day. Within some minutes they were able to identify what was causing the swelling and treat him. They saved my pups life. All the staff were so caring and sympathetic to my situation. I had an appointment today for my rabbit since he is sick and has worms. I do not have a special vet who takes rabbits near me so I set up an appointment at this vet hospital 30 min away. I took time off of work, drove 30 min to this place just for them to tell me all appointments are cancelled due to power service. I did not appreciate the no phone call to let us know they cancelled our appointment and did not appreciate the communication the lady had with me as far as asking if I would like to reschedule. They were able to get me in quickly, but I didn't like that I couldn't go back with my dog. I also felt like I was "suckered" into paying $60 for a flea and tick chew that my dog did not need. They come out and talk to you in the waiting area while your animal is in the back, like they know you're vulnerable at that moment and get you to pay for things you don't really need because you're worried. Terrible tactic, which I fell for. Next time I will demand that I go in the back with my animal. I deserve to meet the vet that is working on my animals. read more

My pooch Ginger is alive because of the quick response from Tulare Veternary. They had me take her in within the hour. As soon as we got there we were greeted with a nice staff that were very caring. Gingers examination was done, and they explained that she was going to need a procedure. We were expected back to pick her up in the late afternoon. While at home, I was very nervous and anxious, and within a few hours I received a call and they told me that Ginger was doing well! That call made my day. We went to pick up Ginger when expected. I had the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize my 15 year old beloved cat, Bubba. The front desk employee was so caring while I was very emotional about what would be happening soon. The veterinary tech I dealt with was very compassionate and explained the procedure and how Bubba wouldn't feel any pain. Both before and after the procedure, she told my son and me to take as much time as we needed with Bubba. They also offer cremation services, which I wanted so that Bubba's ashes would be coming back home in a few weeks.
