Came here tonight with a reservation, told it would be 10-15 minutes wait. We waited over 30 minutes as there was many tables empty (one from the time we arrived), when we inquired we were told"oh, we're saving those for party of 30". The problem is, we were there with a reservation and they were holding tables for an hour or more. The hostess really didn't care and when speaking to the manager,his attitude was even worse, he couldn't be bothered with a couple who chose to celebrate their 31st anniversary at his establishment. I will never step foot in this place again, I have never been treated so rudely at any restaurant in my life! Shame on you!!! I would not recommend it to anyone! This has always been one of my favorite places to eat. Tonight I got my usual the knob hill chicken and it was Burnt and the cheese wasn't melted on it and my husbands hamburger was burnt. They fixed my chicken and it came out a smidgeon less burnt than before. The manager did come by and ask how it was. I am bummed we paid what we paid to eat burnt food. Unsure if we will return at this point or not. Their salad, croissant, & mashed potatoes were the only thing worth eating tonight. read more

We had some business in Augusta and then after a stroll down the Riverwalk, stopped at California Dreaming for dinner. They seemed busy, but there was no wait for seating. Our waitress showed up shortly and took our drink orders. We received our drinks and placed our orders. We both opted for the she-crab soup and it was amazing. While waiting for our entrees, the waitress checked on us regularly. Even when she was delivering to other tables, she always made eye contact to insure we were ok. We had a great waitress who didn't mind waiting for us to decide. We settled on the club sandwich and got the onion loaf. The onion loaf came and was hot and ready for us to dig in. It was wonderful! When the sandwich came the fries were so hot and delicious we were absolutely delighted. Our waitress checked on us regularly with refills. It was a fabulous experience. If you are looking for a good salad, this is the place to come. They are a bit pricey, they have great quality. I usually go with the California Dreaming salad and it is consistently good. The salads are large and can last most 2 meals. Their dressings are fresh and homemade. They do charge for additional dressings, so be aware of this. I've also had their BBQ chicken which was fine. Nothing special but not bad. I'd consider it slightly overpriced, so I usually stick to salads from here. read more

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday. We split an order of marinated chicken strips and she added a garden salad. The chicken was delicious and there was enough not only for both of us, but we had some to bring home. My wife's garden salad was fresh and according to her, also delicious. The wait staff were in clean uniforms and preformed as well as any professionally train staff I have ever seen. The restaurant was clean and conducive to a family atmosphere. This establishment is a typical chain with American style food with a few exceptions. They have an amazing California Dreaming Salad with house dressing and honey crescent rolls. The service we had was superb. The one issue we had with bitter lemonade was fixed immediately and he was very accommodating and friendly. On the down side we had to use loud voices to be heard at our table due to the general noise level of the restaurant on a "quiet evening" as the waiter put it. For a family this might be a good place as there were quite a few rambunctious kids. The bill for two non-alcoholic drinks and two salads with a plate of crescent rolls was just over $40. My Dad and I go to The Masters every other year. And one thing we look forward to, is eating at this place. Normally we get the salads that are really entrees. The warm honey-bacon dressing is to die for. They are always busy, but the wait is not terribly long and the service is top notch. And for as busy as it is, it is always clean. I haven't had a bad thing on the menu. And I've been to their locations in Columbia, South Carolina and Spanish Fort, Alabama and they just aren't as good as this one. read more

My family and I tried this place for the first time...was not what we expected. Our seating area was too dim (it was brightened upon request). The service was dry, the waitress did not introduce herself, did not tell us about any specials or just the menu in general (even after we stated it was our first visit). My son was disappointed to not get complimentary bread while we wait (lol). The food was mediocre. My husband ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich- I ordered the American Burger and my son ordered Fried Shrimp. We were able to finish our meal, but nothing about it made us want to come back and try anything else on the menu. I definitely did not have a "California Dreaming" experience! read more

We got in to Dreamin' a little late this time. Happy to say that the infamous "Taylor" or whomever was made famous in Ryan's post--no longer works there. Since I only had 30 minutes to get as much drinks in as i could, they came at a cyclic rate and the food was good... and quick. I came here with low expectations as usual and really wanted to do takeout but after seeing the football (soccer) game on TV I had to stay a bit, plus as a guy pointed out, it might be the only place with a bar that has an outside view, so why not! Anyways, I had the Cali chicken sandwhich & a side of creamed spinach. The spinach was great. Perfect temprature so I can tear into it and the grated cheese on top was a plus touch. The sandwhich... Damn that shit was good, god damn great. I couldn't explain it no other way, seriously. I was expecting hard bread and some forced chewing, but the bread alone was easy to grasp, perfectly a soft firm build. The chicken was greatly grilled as if it were at a BBQ but better and it was an honor to bite into it. The marinate on it was enough tasteful but then the sauce for the whole sandwhich had to make the experience a grand reason to sit there and get FAT. With all that said... I'll be back there before I got back home up north, and don't be surprised if I close out the week in this spot read more

This was quite a good surprise! We got seated right away since a table in the bar had just opened up. A waiter came over quickly and cleared it, wiped it off and our waitress came soon thereafter. She was wonderful! Very attentive and friendly! We had the She-Crab soup which was better than we have had anywhere in a long time. My husband had the salmon salad which he loved and ate it all. I had the turkey burger and it was good. The fries were awesome! Our Stella drafts were a little flat, but the waitress bought us bottles and then said our beer was on the house! We definitely will go back. The place seemed clean and even though it was a busy Friday night people seemed organized and the staff friendly. Way to go CD! read more

It's good; nothing spectacular but consistent and tasty. We have eaten here quite a bit with a large group. The food is better than most around here, the salads are huge, steaks are usually cooked correctly, I've also had the salmon and that was good. The she crab soup is de-lish! Was there for lunch today....Salads are excellent and large enough for two to share. My wife and I split the Grilled Chicken Salad with Blue Cheese dressing, and it was wonderful. Very fast setting for a lunchtime meal, and the service was outstanding. Neal did a great job of guiding us through the menu options with good recommendations. Service was fast, efficient, and thorough, with everything delivered with a friendly smile and good conversation about the local area (we just moved from Maryland last month!). Serving area was busy, but not too noisy, so conversation was easily done. Dessert (we shard a slice of key lime pie) tasted great, but there was a bit of grittiness to the texture. Though a bit pricey, it's a wonderful place for quality food and fast service...And, if you like, you can go next door and buy a new car! read more

I have been to this location twice now and have developed a craving for the salads. The California dreaming salad is delicious. The lettuce is always cold and crisp. These salads are huge! I would recommend asking for the dressing on the side. The first time I didn't and quickly learned they can be heavy handed with the dressing. I usually get a bowl of the she crab soup with my salad. The soup is always hot, creamy, and delicious. The sherry is optional in the soup, but I would recommend it. My husband tried a burger on our most recent visit and it did not disappoint! We have also tried the blue crab claws appetizer, I wasn't a fan, but my husband loved them. The only thing that I thought could improve was the music. Maybe it was just the day we were there, but it was really LOUD. The service has been awesome both times we visited here. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Husband took me to California Dreaming for our 24th anniversary. My order was wrong, sent it back to the kitchen, waited for over thirty minutes for sauted onions. Husband finished his meal, at which time my dinner comes out and is still wrong - raw onions twice??? I told the waitress to take it off our bill and I ended up having taco bell for dinner because I was so upset. The staff didn't try to fix the situation. No refills on drinks, totally ignored and forgotten. This was the second time that we had gone there, that the food was messed up. The previous time we took clients out for dinner. I really want to love this place. The food can be great, but the service is mediocre at best. The decor, the menu and the wine list all remind me of my FAVORITE restaurant, but I am genuinely disappointed with my experience every time. The food always seems to take forever, the server is always clumsily apologetic and the management lacks professionalism. The only things I thought were bad is the atmosphere, very noisy lots of echo. Restaurant would benefit from hiring a sound engineer and having some clouds and baffles installed.
