Three times: 2/19, 2/21, 2/27 I was woken up by their drivers coming into our densely populated neighborhood in Oakland to unload and load equipment at 4am-6am. Well before the city noise ordinance of 7am. This is all to avoid 'traffic'. The drivers are completely willing to wake up an entire neighborhood, violate city noise ordinances, and ruin a bunch of peoples mornings, all so they can avoid being in traffic for 10 extra minutes. This is just to respond to the "BEWARE" - FYI Preliminary 20-day notices are legit on construction projects especially if the equipment or labor or materials have been purchased on account/credit - because if they do not get paid, they then can exercise their lien rights in order to get paid. It is the correct way of doing business when you want to cover your a$$ Equipment wise it's probably more like two stars- they do have older equipment and sometimes the equipment are in need of repair. Customer service is great, responsive and often can get technicians out asap - three stars. They have the best prices on equipment though. Can't be beat. - 4 stars on pricing! read more

Our roofing contractor rented a lift for a 1-day job. CHR was supposed to pick up the lift the following day but instead it sat in our tiny parking lot for a week, while our contractor repeatedly called them with no luck. (Similar to the bad experience as the reviewer from 11/17 in Yelp's weird "not recommended" section of reviews). CHR couldn't even be bothered to call our contractor back with an apology and a new pickup date/time. CHR advertises a "fleet of trucks" but apparently couldn't find a single one to pick up their lift. End result - our boss will probably not use the same contractor again because of what happened, and the contractor (if they're smart) won't use CHR again. read more

I would gladly use these guys again for a lift rental. I rented a boom lift for a week and then had to extend the rental time. No problem, could have extended it more if needed. They charged a very reasonable fee for delivery and pickup, given that our site was out in the country about a couple of hours from their facility, on little one-lane country roads. Since their rental price was lower than others I checked, I expected that the equipment might be old and not in too good of shape, but it wasn't -- it was quite nice and in good working order. They were always prompt at answering the phone and answered all my newbie questions and concerns. Good outfit to deal with. read more

It's unfortunate that CHR has such bad reviews on Yelp, but whatever they were doing wrong a couple years ago is definitely a thing of the passed! I have used 4 different lifts with them, and never had one problem. The drivers delivered the lifts on time and they were good working order. My contractor hired these guys to provide a lift to do repairs on my building. The lift he dropped off was super old and broke down the first day. The guy came out and repaired it over the weekend. Then, we found out it wouldn't reach or drive around most of the building. ( the dinosaur got stuck in the driveway). I have a half circular driveway and this piece of junk leaked oil ALL over it! I just sealed it two months ago and it looked great, now it's covered in oil. He was supposed to bring another lift ( with a longer reach) last weekend and instead didn't show til Monday. The lift was longer but was gutless and couldn't make it down the flat street, it was longer but it was broken and wouldn't go the full reach we had to send it back. Do I need to say more? He cost my contractor a lot of money and both of us a lot of frustration and oil! read more

BEWARE!! They send out "Preliminary 20-day Notice" as a "courtesy" to unsuspecting landlords for work that was done on a rented property and is tenant's responsibility not landlord's. It looks like official notice but is actually sent by this company and I freaked because all I saw was "lien". Nice way of doing business!! read more

Stay away from this company! Their equipment is old and breaks down all the time their manager Frank hires and fires self people with no reason if they don't go two jobs and undercut the competition they have no morals read more

This company is a joke. The first equipment I rented and had numerous problems and they had to come out and fix it. They gave me a small credit but nothing near the lost work. Which I can live with. I decide to try them again. This time they deliver the unit to the wrong address and I spend a half day going building to building down the street asking if they had seen the unit. 3 hours into the search I find it at another address in the back of a building. I ask for a small credit of 100. to be fair. Even though I lose a whole day because the unit didn't have enough power to make it to my job site and I had to run out to buy a longer extension cord. Shame on me, decide to give them one more try. The unit was suppose to be dropped off where they picked it up the previous time; on Friday. Saturday comes around and my worker calls to tell me there is no lift. Luckily the electricians are not working on the weekend and leave a couple lifts. Tuesday comes around because Monday is a holiday and I arrive in the morning to find no lift. I call the rep and he says he'll talk to the driver. I explain, the electricians had left there lift and I won't be need his. He never calls back. Instead I receive a bill, close to 300.00. Now accounting tells me, we gave you a couple credits in the past. You just don't want to pay for it. I'll be sending it to collections. Of course I pay it since I have perfect credit and I do things fairly. Too bad High Reach nor Jeff can say the same. So basically there stance is we keep screwing up, so you should pay. The equipment is marginal and there service is worse. I have spent thousands with them and this is how they treat me. read more
