I've been coming here for a couple years already, and I keep telling myself to write a review to bring in other business as well. I rented a violin from here in 2024 for my son and everyone has always been so kind. We're here at least once a week for the lessons. They really have great customer service. I've always a felt little bit intimidated by music as I have no musical background whatsoever and never tried to learn at age 40. Watching my son excel due to their support made me want to try an instrument, and naturally I immediately popped a string due to not knowing what the hell I was doing. They replaced my string for free and showed me how to restring it. I deal with Daniel, Veronica, and Jessica on a regular basis but the entire staff is very kind. I really recommend their rental program, it's pretty affordable. I'm only paying about $25/mo so I paid for 6 months up front. read more

From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, the staff was friendly, helpful, joking with us as if we were old friends. We took in our daughter's clarinet, which was almost 10 years old, and traded it in for a brand new violin for our other daughter. Been bringing my toddler here for almost a year and I used to come here for piano lessons way back when. However, while purchasing the drum set today, I asked if they could deliver it for me and the store associate said she'd check with her boss. Shortly after, the store associate came back and never told me if they could deliver it. I asked her 2-3 times and my question was never answered. I even said I could pay for delivery and still, my question was not answered. Instead, she said I could just put it in my car with her assistance. Either she never called her boss or the boss told her no. Idk, it was a little weird. If the delivery of the drum set wasn't possible, she could have been direct about it instead of dismissing my question. read more

If you need music books and some stuff for kids in school music programs, they send you here. To me, the selection of instruments on hand was scarce, and music was OK. There wasn't, that I could see, a place to try out things, and service at the counter was pretty slow. I just wanted to buy one thing, which wasn't on display, and go. Took me well over 30 minutes to do that. Price was OK. Store was a little tight to move around in, but there were many customers there. Not my first pick if I need something in the future. I bet if you go when they aren't busy it is better. read more

We recently got to know Ed and have had him tune 4 pianos in our family. He did a wonderful job each time! He is very knowledgeable and gifted in what he does. And the best part of all, he recommended (but did not pressure at all) that we could make our 80+ year old grand piano sound so much better if we would allow him to take the action part of the piano (the inner workings) home for him to refurbish, such as reshaping the hammers and lifting them so they would properly hit the strings again, among other things. We decided to do that and OH what a difference it made! It was so worth the money spent and I am extremely happy! We have $100.000 at my school at FHS and did a fabulous job. Ed, raised the piano and stopped it from doubleing notes and tune it up. When we touch the piano it was like new piano. My son was taking viola lessons at his school last year. My wife rented a used viola for him at this store instead of buying it since we did not know how long he would be interested in playing this instrument. During the summer, my son did not want to practice his instrument at home. We were paying about $40 monthly so I decided to return the viola to the store while he was out of school for the summer. The cashier recommended that I keep the instrument at home until the next school year. He said if I returned it, I would lose all the credit I had earned by making monthly payments. He said violas were expensive and I was renting it to own it. So I listened to him and took it home. I made a prepayment for several months after the summer months so that I would not forget to pay. However, when classes started again in August, he lost interest in the viola and I ended up returning it to this store. I asked the clerk for reimbursement for the months that I prepaid that the viola had not been used. He told they do not do reimbursements on prepayments. They have the instrument in their store to rent it or sell it to someone else and they still keep my money for those months I prepaid. They can make twice per month on one instrument. I would not call these people honest. If you rent from this store, I suggest you don't prepay instead give them a credit card for them charge monthly as you go this way if you have any similiar problems you can complaint with your credit card company but do not give them cash as I did. They have a lot of customers and it took them a while to get to me each time I went to make a payment. The store is small and seemed messy around the cash registers, not well organized. read more

I have to give it4 stars, only down side is everyone and their mama goes at the same time I do :( but I have had my son do private lessons with Matt is a good teacher but for 25 dollars a lesson and for 30 min once a week I didn't think it would help but it helped a bit. Renton programs are ok but the instruments are expensive But good service just needs to pay attention to what they are giving the customer a broken fluteaphone and the wrong spit cloth that clearly say polish cloth umm look please. read more

Great place for piano lessons. My son has been going here for almost 2 years. He loves his teacher & lessons. It's hard to motivate 10-year-old boys to love music but somehow this place has. He is always excited to come to class and even go home and practice his piano. For any parent looking to take their kids for lessons, this is a great place :) They also have lessons for other instruments. I feel like the teachers really care and want to help the students. Had Ed out to tune my piano and fix several keys and hammers. (over a 100 years old and hasn't been tuned since 1966!). He was so amazing with it! He was very up front with what the process would look like and that it totally depended on how my piano held up. Our miracle was that it held up amazingly. Not only did he give careful attention to our piano he also was very helpful about future care for it and even left us with a little song to show how amazing the piano still was! Very grateful that he was able to restore this piano that was my grandmothers and now my children can enjoy as well! read more

The first time I brought my trombone it was there for about a week. Which is understandable due to the timing of the schools also bringing instruments in. But on my second time using them I finally after a month and a half of waiting I got my trombone back. When I went the first time to pick it up (2 weeks after I brought it in) the dent I paid them to take out was still there. So he was respectful and told me he would get it done. Well, two weeks later we finally called because they never called us. I picked up the trombone today and it looks clean! But the dent, looks like it was a half-asked job done. Rude!!! I went in today with a friend who needed to purchase an item for her son and decided to ask a question in the process. The first guy I worked with was great and friendly but wasn't familiar with the item I was asking about. He asked a co-worker/manager who was more familiar with the cello. This guy was extremely rude and said he didn't know and had nothing in stock for the cello anyways while walking away from me.... He didn't even stop to address me as a customer. I got my trombone cleaned and my slide fixed. Cleaning $65 slide fix $25. Not too bad of a price! Jessica cleaned my trombone, and it was done the next day (good timing), but sometimes it could take 2 days depending on the request. I picked it up and it was clean as a whistle! The slide had been fixed, the cork had been replaced, and even my trigger (that rarely worked) worked better than before! I also received great, personable service from Jessica and the staff that worked with her. Very impressed! read more

Rented a trumpet for my son's lessons at school for 2 years in the rent to own program. Called in two times to check balances and see if we were almost paid off since I never actually received a receipt for direct deposits. When I called they would give me balance info and options. Just called today because I knew it should be paid off by now. Then big surprise! Rent to own will let you keep making payments over the value of the instrument and you can "rent forever" without them contacting you to sign over the instrument. It is up to you to follow up and get the instrument signed over , that you already paid for. How this can be called a rent to own service is beyond me. I ended up paying over $100 more of the value of the instrument. The company would have have continued charging me if I didn't check in. My fault for thinking this was a service that had a system that didn't rely on their customers oversights. read more

Fantastic service! Highly knowledgable/tech know-how. The *owner* of this large business (they're apparently the largest in Kern county, teaching 500 students a month in their 16 studios) actually drove 2+ hours south to service our Yamaha Disklavier. He took the time to interface with Yamaha's pro service reps and made the correct diagnosis on the first attempt. He arrive with the parts and had us back up and running in hours when no one else in our area had a clue. In sum, I can't recommend them enough! read more

The owner of the company personally came and tuned our piano. He was very professional, kind, knowledgeable, and honest, and I knew right away I was being treated fairly and honestly. He spent quite a bit of time explaining the condition of the piano, what was wrong, and how I could keep it in good condition for a long time. He even spent some time talking with my children about how the piano works, and included them in the tuning process. He clearly enjoyed his job and knew what he was doing. I have a violin that needed stringing. i called rosedale music and talked to a certain Neal (who happens to be the manager) on the phone asking about how much it would cost me for them to put a string. he said it's $5.00 on top of the string's price. he said somebody will put the string on and tune it. i went to the shop, Neal ended up putting the string. broke a string even (did not bother to replace it, good thing i have an extra E string). to my estimation, he wasn't knowledgeable when it comes to violins. when my son broke another string, i called California Keyboard, upfront, i asked for a stringing fee and they said there was none. it's free long as i buy from them the strings. i met Jim and we talked a bit. he placed the string. waited a few minutes for another guy to tune my violin. they gave me advice on how to take care of the violin. i guess,Rosedale Music is OK if i go buy some sheet music but not for the repairs of my instruments. as a customer you feel the vibe if the one you are talking to knows what he is talking about, California Keyboards made me feel this way. I'm giving this one star only because I had too or I would of gave it zero stars . I took a drum set to get fixed back in July and prepaid for the services . Well it is October and my drum set is still sitting there broken . We got a call last week saying it was ready to pick up , we went to pick up and the drum set is still sitting there with a broken drum head right in front of the register . Nobody knew who called or what needed to be fix . Basically nobody knew ANYTHING . So we decided to take the drum set home because after 6 months they "Keep it" if you dont claim it within that time . The parts are already paid for and now we are waiting for the other part to come in AGAIN When they called and said it was in amd ready to go . My husband has been very patient with all this but I will be calling the GM Jim Weezner on Monday . If things couldn't get any worse they tried to charge me again for one part but I had my receipt .
