I wandered in to Roco's Jewelry one day just on a whim. WOW! SO glad I did. Excellent service. Beautiful inventory. Honest...yes...dare I say that word these days? HONEST! Delaney helped me create a beautiful 'FOREVER' band for my husband. Paid by check...until my bank alerted me that they did not honor the check for payment. NO, not for insufficient funds...but bc they could not confirm the validity of the 'Roco's' endorsement on the back...SO, I called the store and told them that I would not pick up the ring because of my bank's alert...and that it was not my style to steal - or knowingly pick it up not paid. After months of continuing to receive text prompts to pick the ring up, I phoned again. This time talking to a different person. I then confirmed with the owner (not the initial contact) that indeed, he had not received payment for the ring from my bank. NOW, THAT IS HONEST. ASIDE from pure honesty, Alex, the owner, is a craftsman of 'world-class' proportion. He sized a piece of extremely difficult-to-size jewelry, and it doesn't even really look like it was ever touched. That is talent. And, I speak from experience...my beautiful late father worked at Lawson's Jewelry on Chester Avenue in old Downtown Bakersfield for years (next door to Gutcher Music), and then worked for Gordon's Jewelers in the Valley Plaza when it opened being promoted to Manager. Not sure what happened...My now husband has raved about Roco's for years. He got my engagement and wedding bands from there and my engagement ring had custom additions added and they were beautiful. Everything has been awful since that first experience where we gave them thousands and thousands of dollars. After the wedding, we took my set in for a clean and check up and for some reason the woman helping us "dipped" my rings without permission and it totally ruined the custom rose gold additions by covering it in white gold. She acted like it was not her fault and offered to "buff it off," But when the time came to pick it up, she clearly was unable to get the original rose gold back The way it was and I consider it ruined in that aspect. They kind of just gave it back and were like "sorry about your luck." To get the rose gold back, I'm guessing id have to completely separate my 3 bands to Access the underside of the main diamond. They didn't offer this as a solution to ruining my custom engagement band THAT THEY DESIGNED AND MADE. Sad face. Today, we went by for a quick cleaning since we were in the shopping center and BOY were the two Girls in there snobby. No small talk. No trying to figure out what we needed. When we asked to get my set cleaned they treated us like we were idiots. One girl went back to clean and the other stayed out and DIDNT SAY A WORD to us for like 10-15 mins. Clearly we weren't going to buy anything but we have spent a LOT of money there to be treated like that. I'm really sad to say that we likely won't go back just because my rose gold was ruined and the way we were treated today. read more

Remarkably poor repair work on a batch of items brought in to Rocco's on Rosedale. The work was so bad that I suspect it got churned through part of a bench test or done by an intern. They damaged some items that will now need to be repaired elsewhere, and the actual completed work (all simple, routine procedures) was astonishingly sloppy and ineffective, a complete waste of time. I should have backed out when they took the items without any photos or proper descriptions like most reputable jewelry stores will include on work orders to document what they received. The end result was an unfortunate travesty that solved none of the problems and left everything worse than when it came in. I was offered a partial refund (about 90% of the price), which I accepted just to get my jewelry back and get away from this place. Not one item in the batch was completed properly, and I can only hope that the damaged items can be fixed somewhere else. Extremely unprofessional. Beware! read more

I will never bring any watches to this jewelry store ever again. I took two identical watches there to have the batteries replaced. They said it would take 20 minutes. Five hours later, I took a chance and drove down there because they refused to answer my numerous calls. Upon entering the store, the young lady behind the counter said, "I have good news and bad news. Watch one works perfectly, but watch two--the hands all fell off, and we can't fix it here." So, they just gave me a totally broken watch with no excuse. All four hands on a watch do not all fall off at once unless something was done wrong. Now, a professional store that cares about its customers would have said, "We will not charge you the $20 for a $2 battery for watch one and explain how all the hands fell off of watch two." read more

I brought in a necklace to have some repair work done. They did not fix everything I asked. They did put on a new loop for the pendant and a lobster claw. This was a month or two ago. Today, I noticed that the loop they put on my necklace is not even silver! They were going to charge me the quoted price for all the work despite not being able to do it. They did adjust the amount when I said something. Still, how does a reputable jeweler put a plated loop on a precious necklace?!?! Very disappointing, to say the least. I have a horrible memory, but the gentleman who helped me was very kind and patient for a man whose store was closing in 10 minutes! He didn't give me any attitude or snarky talk when I wanted to call someone to confirm the profits of the gold sale. And to me that was reassuring! Came in to get two of my husbands watch batteries changed and was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I was confused with the entrance since they had it locked, for security purposes. You have to ring a bell/push a button in order to get in. I found that odd since it's in a great area but you can never be too careful and I never hold that against businesses, regardless of the area. They offer ring sizing as well, they sell great jewelry pieces and are friendly and helpful. First visit at Roco's to have my ring sized for my wedding in May. Brought my rings in to be size, engagement sized down a half size and wedding band size up. The store is super clean, glass was kept clean so you could drool all over the shiny jewelry. Keep in mind you have to ring yourself in then the door will open. Can never be too careful, i found comfort in the added security. I had dropped my ring off on April 23rd and was told the jeweler was not expect to be back until Monday, which i was perfectly fine with. Today is the 28th and i got a call around noon that my rings were ready! Did not even expect them until Monday Picking them up I was greeted by Alex, who is super friendly, made the whole pick up quick and easy. Everything fit perfectly.
