I've been here a few times now because my son decided that he's a ninja and flutes are made for ninja stuff, so we had to get the flute fixed. One of his keys was bent and he had some dents on the instrument. I don't know if that's normal and if any other parents has gone through that, but man....... it's super expensive. Several times while paying for the instrument to get fixed I contemplated on trading the kid in for drums or something, heck... even a harmonica, but Nick Rail wasn't budging. They didn't want a kid that breaks instruments, so I was at a lost. Such a bummer. Having said that, Nick Rail did an amazing job getting all the kinks and ninja attacks out. The instrument looked new. It was bright and shiny once more. I probably haven't seen it in this shape since he first had gotten the instrument about 5yrs ago. Processing time of the instrument was a little delayed and didn't get fixed in a timely fashion, but overall I was happy with the fix. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. I also didn't know they actually give lessons inside, so if your child is a music enthusiast or even yourself, then check it out. I'm not too sure on pricing. read more

The guy has really cool personality I like his humor. He's nice to the costumer's. I really like how he helps you look for things and ask certain types. I also really like how cheap some of the things are. I might come back to get a flute cleaner and a rag the next time since I got the flute book. I really recommend this guys music store and more people should go to it. read more

I came here to get some information on music lessons, the people at the counter seemed nice. I only gave them four starts because I really did not need their help so no question was asked except for " do you have a flyer for music lessons" lol. I did walk around and the place was nice , clean and organized. Taking a look at these prices of the instruments they have to be top quality stuff, nothing wrong with that. It's a small store but nothing is wrong with that. It's sits in a shopping center so you may miss it if your not looking. My experience here was short live, but it was nice to see the instruments and knowing there's a place by my house to visit. read more

Nick rail is a well known music store in town located at the corner of Ming & New Stine. I have come here in the past for music books and reeds. My son's music teacher brought his flute in for repair. When my son picked up his flute the repair tech Paul was rude and inconsiderate when speaking to my son telling him that his instrument was cheap. Gibson is only good for guitars. Not only was my son insulted but the flute was given back oily and full of hand prints. They didn't even wipe the instrument down. I will never come back to this store and spend my money to receive such terrible service ******Update***** After our unfortunate event we have since received great follow up & apologies of Paul along with other staff members. We have been educated on the Gemeinhardt brand. Due to the customer care/follow up I am increasing my star rating. read more

Gave ample examples of what to do and what to expect on tuning.. suggestions on music books..and even helped with possible music lessons for both my young musicians. As for customer service... on point! I truly appreciate them... very helpful and you can tell they truly love music. Here's the perks.. I'm not able to purchase a violin right now but because of school requirements, I needed to rent one. You're going to appreciate this deal... if you have a rental, your monthly rental payments goes toward a brand new instrument! Isn't that a great deal?!?!? Million dollar corporation and they make their customers sit in lawn chairs.. talk about customer appreciation. How unprofessional is that? All of their $1000+ silver instruments are always outrageously tarnished and scratched. How do you expect people to drop that kind of money on something so poorly maintained? I have been bringing my son here for years! We have also went to ca keyboards and although everyone there is super nice i just love the relaxed atmosphere here and I've never encountered any issues. The prices are also more affordable in my experience. The guy who fixes everything i honestly don't remember his name but he is the best he knows EVERYTHING!! He is so polite every time. I took my son in on Saturday to try out a Tenor Sax before he actually makes the move from alto and the girl that helped us although super sweet didn't know anything about the Tenor and couldn't find the proper ligature for it so the "fixit" guy (sorry lol) came to the rescue. Anyway they let you try anything you want, you go into a soundproof room and play away, my son even went and got a book off the shelf to use no problem. We never felt pressured and that's important to me. I got his alto sax from here as well and I also get his supplies from here and i have zero complaints. If you want to rent its an easy fast process with affordable payments. He actually got a brand new Yamaha alto sax which he loves!! They also don't hover and try to up-sell you like i've experienced everywhere else also a huge plus!! He chose to wait on the Tenor but it's just really nice that we have the choice to go in and try with zero pressure to buy, that's why we keep coming back great people and great experiences! read more

i have come here twice. once was for information about my son's music class requirements. i had a lot of questions and the staff were very cordial and did not make me feel like an idiot. they answered all of my questions and also offered options. The second time i went in and bought a guitar case. Yes most likely amazon had a cheaper option but while we were talking eddie tuned the guitar FOR FREE while helping me out. in my opinion we have to support businesses like this that go above and beyond. keep it local so that music instruction and equipment will be available to community. read more

Been here twice and was satisfied with the help I got both times. First time I went in to look for a saxophone for my brother. We ended up getting one from a friend, but still they were very helpful. The second time was when my brother broke something on his saxophone and we took it in to get fixed and they fixed it for no charge at all! read more

Came here many times for the past 7 years use to have great customer service. However, I'm sorry to say I give it 2 stars, it has been nearly 2 weeks that they haven't cleaned my instrument. The longest It has taken for someone to clean any of the instruments I brought would be no more than a week. So i have asked if I can pick it up so that I can take it somewhere else who is willing to clean my instrument. Then the cashier gave a me a rude remark saying that it will take 2 weeks as well to clean an instruments and the other stores are being moved to a new location so that they won't be able to get my instrument in on time. That moment on I should have stuck to my gut feeling and went to the other store instead of this one. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Came in the store was packed from front of store to the back wall. I was never greeted nor given a bit of information . I patiently waited over 30 minutes in line was finally my turn I give her the list from school and explained I need everything on the list including the cello rental she says follow me to the table I followed her to table she wants me to fill out a rental agreement thats no problem but then when I go to get back to the counter to be helped she told me I have to stand in the same line that I just waited 30 minutes I and has now doubled the original length and because she did not inform nor did any other employee inform anyone standing in the line that if they were there to do a rental as well as pick up items that they would need to fill out a contract not satisfied whatsoever bad . I know they were busy and don't mind waiting my turn but feel you should be organized and be able to well inform customers of what's needed to insure you not wasting their time or yours for that matter customer service not informative never greeted not the way you do good business Will not return to this place. Went to California Keyboards 100 oak street Bakersfield amazing service from the second we walked through the door. My family and I have been going to Nick Rail music for years and there is no where else we would rather go. It's a one stop shop where we can get most anything we need for our multitude of instruments. With people playing string, brass, and woodwind we needed a place where we could get everything and this is it! The employees there are knowledgeable and dependable, repairs are done in a timely manner, things that are ordered come in fairly quickly, and they are always willing to lend a helping hand. And when we had friends who needed to rent instruments for a reasonable price we knew just where to send them. $19.95 for a trumpet?! That's awesome!
