The Milpitas Police department is the epitome of why Milpitas is a great town to live in. Every…read moresingle time I call they respond within 30 minutes. One time my son tested the new VOIP phone by dialing 9-11 and then hung up. Little did we know, just by doing that, they sent police officers to check on our well-being. Good luck getting police to respond to you within 3 hours or at all if you're in San Jose and calling for help for anything short of a murder. The police station is also a great place to meet up to sell on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace.

Milpitas PD is definitely present when you need them. Within minutes, even with traffic/ lanes of…read morecars with no where to go, or not even 5 minutes of calling 9-1-1 when I was rear ended (on 11/30/24 on Calaveras Blvd), Milpitas PD was first on the scene, took my statement and made sure I was taken care of. Thanks Officer Pizzo! Proceeding that, the visit to the police station or the records office was pretty efficient (granted that you arrive first thing in the morning). The two times I made a trip here last month, there was like one other person (s) ahead of me, but each encounter was quick and no long waits if you call their line. Parking at the MPD is not a problem, depending on the time of day you come in. My biggest gripe is that MPD charges you $15 for a CD your laptop or CD player doesn't recognize. Or maybe it's just my laptop. But that's why it's important to take your own pictures and videos at the scene of an accident, crime, photo-op, etc. Also MPD charges for paper copies of your report when everything is digital nowadays! This is my hometown and I've lived in Milpitas since the first grade (or early 90s) and as an adult, I can say I feel pretty safe in Milpitas, thanks to our community of police officers, admin, fire and EMTs. We are protected because of your commitment to our safety (and have a sense of normalcy in our diverse community). As always, thank you!

Thanks for giving info to the newbies about the past of this interesting town called Milpitas…read more(small corn fields:). This review is for the mini-museum on display at the mall. This is the first time in 4 years going to that mall that I realized that was a superb way to spend an hour or 2 just admiring the items on display and the explanations of the history of this town that some consider 'less' than San Jose or somehow a sleepy town where people that cannot afford the 'real Silicon Valley' tend to find cheaper housing. If you are curious, like history and want to know what happened here before you put your feet at Apple, Google or whatever brought you here and decide that Milpitas is that town that stinks...stop next time you go to the mall to admire and think and respect what others left for you and understand how this area evolved (even you -and me-are part of its history now). Thanks for putting this together to all those volunteers out there!

The Milpitas Historical Society was organized by 79 Milpitans in 1980 to discover, preserve, and…read moredisseminate the history of Milpitas. The Society maintains the city's first fire truck, Leapin' Lena that is on display at the Library. It also takes care of a historical display near the food court in the Great Mall. Recently it began a display of historic items in City Hall. The Society is a group of active adults who all share a love of the cultural heritage of Milpitas. They serve the community in many ways: they help businesses interested in historic images; they promote local history to school groups; they conduct an annual community tour of local agriculture and historical sites; they bring interesting speakers to their monthly meetings; they publish an excellent informational newsletter called 'The Milpitas Muse;' they lobby our local city leaders to keep our local history alive. Recently they began cataloging their collection and advocating to build our city's first community museum to be located in a city park near the Public Library. After the museum opens, the Society hopes to operate and staff it. They meet on the second Wednesday of January, March, April, May, September, October, and November at the Library beginning at 7:00 PM. Stop in for an interesting history program and light refreshments. Their meetings are open to all!
