I went in to get a pedicure for my birthday. Arrived and there wasn't any other clients. I was greeted and offered a chair to get started. The male technician that did my nails was very friendly, but I did not like the outcome of my nails - my feet and nails weren't allowed time to soak and nothing was added to the water to soften it up, my nails weren't well cleaned and they weren't trimmed evenly. It seemed like it was his second day on the job. No one was rude, but I felt like the customer service wasn't one that was interested in making sure the customer had a great experience to return again. BEST nail salon in Topeka. I have went to places around Topeka searching for a trusted nail salon that I feel does a wonderful job every time and doesn't just try to get me out the door. Now I never go anywhere else but California Nail Salon. They do a great job and my acrylic nails have not fallen off, lifted, or broken. The shop is clean and the staff seems nice. The chairs have a great massage but the pedi could use more work...it might have been that the person that did mine was new or only does nails. Pedicures comes without a scrub on your legs, without nail cleaning...so if you are into a quick $25 toenail polish. read more

I'm new in town and have been trying to find a good nail shop. I went to California nail salon for a pedicure the owner barely spoke to me when I came in and his wife never spoke to me the whole time. I was there I was the only person in the shop at the time and was not even thanked or told goodbye at the end of my service. I got a pedicure But he didn't really scrub my feet they still felt rough after I was done and they were very dry and ashy I will never go to the salon again due to their customer service and quality of work read more

I try not to speak badly of businesses but I had a very unpleasant experience. I went for a pedicure and waited for about 40 minutes. Wasn't a big deal they had a few clients in the place, the nail tech then told me to come sit and soak my feet. The water wasn't very warm and I ended up sitting in that chair until the water got cold. When he did get around to coming over to doing my pedicure he barely scrubbed my feet, kept my feet in cool water, and rushed through the whole thing. When he applied the nail polish he didn't even paint my whole toe nail, I had to ask him to paint the rest of the nail and he still wasn't able to paint the whole nail. My whole pedicure (him actually touching my foot and painting my nails) was about 10-12min long. You go to get your nails done to relax and get your moneys worth. I could have used those $28 somewhere else that actually felt wort the money. read more

As I walked in I tried telling a rude, pushy, young lady who wouldn't listen as I was trying to explain what services I wanted, hollering at child running all over so, I opted out after she seemed more worried abt telling me abt the cost before she would hear me out. I paid $25 plus $2 tip, got nine fingers filled and a heavy handed, rush job thats uneven, ragged edges and lifting after one day. Glad I didn't allow her to do my pedicure. I hope tmrw I can get this taken care of before I will get pedis done wit babygrl. If not maybe state board needs to see this. read more

Best nail salon in Topeka. There is pretty much always a line, but it is worth the wait. My shellac has lasted me up to a month without chipping or peeling. They don't rush to get your nails done and then do a crappy job. The only place in Topeka/Lawrence that I will get my nails done at. 10/10 recommend. read more

Went on a Monday to get gel French tips put on and had to go back on Saturday because majority of my nails were bubbling underneath the gel and looked badly done so the same girl that did my nails looked at them and told me that my hands must be in water a lot..pretty much blamed it on me..she only redid the worst ones and now I have 3 nails that don't match the length of the other nails..poor quality of work and short staffed..2 people were the only ones working both times I went and it seems like they were in a hurry to get people done..won't be back ever!' read more

The salon itself is clean, the employees seemed nice enough. However, after paying $39.50 for a mani/pedi I'd expect my nails to look nice for at least 24 hours. After only 10 hours (part of that time was spent sleeping. And the rest was spent sitting in a salon chair) my nail polish was literally peeling off.......ON MY WEDDING DAY! I didn't have time in my day to go back and get them fixed. Luckily, this was the only thing to go wrong on my wedding day. But I had to call someone to bring out nail polish remover because no nail polish would look better in photographs than half peeled nail polish. My nails looked like I had week old polish on them. Not 10 hour old polish. My nails last longer when I do them myself. My maid of honor went with me and paid $20 extra to get shellac done. Her nails were chipping off within 24 hours as well. And shellac is supposed to last longer. The rest of our wedding party went to another nail salon and THEIR NAILS STILL LOOK PERFECT! And the wedding was 5 days ago. Spa was nice and clean. Not a very relaxing atmosphere. The young man who gave me my pedicure was decent and swift. The young lady was rude. I had fingertips on, and wanted them removed. Because my own nails have grown out sufficiently. She proceeded to rip them off along with most of my own nails. She then turned me back over to the young man, he then had a to repair a couple with glue, then had to file to a point, because she ripped the edges off. Thank goodness we are just traveling through, that was a terrible experience. read more

I moved out of Topeka last year, and have yet to find a nail salon as good as this one. I still mark my calendar for weekends I am back so I can come get my nails done! They always do such an incredible job, and my shellac lasts for 3 weeks every time. I do NOT recommend this shop AT ALL. Both the pedicure and the new set of acrylics were very poorly done. Very sloppy work. Did not file toenails smooth after clipping them down. Acrylics were too thick and not filed to fit my own nail. Despite several specific requests for nail shape, I still had to finish off the shaping when I got home. Minimal cuticle work on both toes and fingers. Had to find another shop to fix the mess. -curist was aggressive; twisting my fingers, hands and feet painfully. Carried on several non-English conversations with others - rude and disrespectful. Shop was not busy so not in any rush. VERY unsatisfactory experience. Would give zero stars if I could. Certainly not worthy of a return visit or my repeat business. I'll keep searching for a shop that provides consistent quality work and will truly value my business. read more
