Because I don't live in the house full time, I was not there while the work was being done but Adam came back out a few days later to walk me through the work they'd done and pick up the final payment. We were apprehensive when we were looking for someone to design and build our backyard. We had a new build and nothing but dirt. A gentleman came around and passed us a flyer for their company. We saw our neighbors book other companies and heard horror stories. We vetted a few and decided to go with California Paver Pros. From the very beginning, we were very excited to work with them. They came out and took a look and asked what we were looking for. We had one of the larger lots, so we wanted a few different things. Darrell was very kind and had great ideas. We liked what he came up with and decided to sign with them. We ended up working with Ken, the CEO, and he was a true professional through and through. He told us what to expect and the time frame they would be working in. The crew he sent out was top-notch and so courteous in everything they did. From the efficiency and cleaning up everything every day before they left. They finished the whole project (concrete, paving, mow strip, rocks, grass, trees, and irrigation system) within 2 weeks! I am really late in posting a review for them. I am blown away by the awesome job they did removing and reinstalling my paver patio. When they removed the old pavers, they found a drain that was basically going nowhere and absolutely no underlayment under most of the patio. They go above and beyond!! They cemented the edge stones in so I won't have to worry about them moving anymore. They also leveled the pavers with the cement slab at the doorway. Their foreman recommended adjusting the patio to give my Japanese maple tree more room to grow. As they pulled out the patio, I made a design change to add an open area next to my house. It didn't require more pavers so they accomodated and adjusted the design beautifully. I highly recommend their work and professionalism. I would not recommend California Pavers Pro. The people I worked with were nice but the completed job fell way below my expectations. California Pavers Pro was the highest estimate I received. For transparency no other company bid on the gas line extension. I have been in contact with a rep from the company. We texted and I emailed them (June 1st 2022) with the issues below. Haven't heard anything as of today (June 6th 2022) Job Scope: 1) Front/Backyard Concrete 2) Extend Gas line from meter to backyard 3) Add 4 electrical outlets in backyard 4) Include Water Feature in Backyard Specifics: New Home Cal Pavers Pro Cost = $23k - $25k (I dont remember exactly) Other Estimates 5-7 - DID NOT INCLUDE Gas Line work = $8k - $15k Construction Date: Jan 12th - Feb 3rd (includes repour for 2 areas) I will try to corelate the issues with the pictures (sorry pictures came in out of order and I cant fix it) 1) Corners & all meeting points were supposed to be rounded - Corners & meeting point weren't rounded (Pics A/B) 2) To maintain compliance with the new home warranty all cement needed to be min 2" below the "weep line". This is common and all the companies, including Cal Pavers Pro, said it wouldn't be a problem - Only 1" was left below the weep line on multiple sides of the house. The rep came out after the 1st pour and saw there was issue and said it would get repoured. Unfortunately this particular area was not fixed and as you can see in the pictures it is still only 1" below the "weep line". (Pics C-E & J) 3) I had requested the exiting bark in the front area that was going to be concreted be moved to the back yard planter area so its not wasted. - This wasn't done. I dont know what happened to the bark but never made it to the backyard (Pic F) 4) For some reason the planter area in the backyard wasn't graded like the sides of the house were after the cement was poured. In addition they left a partial open trench in the backyard. Although it is shallow this seems very sloppy and unprofessional. (Pics F/G) 5) The gas line was extended from the customer side of the meter to the back corner of the backyard. I requested pictures of the trench depth with a measuring tape and pics of the gas line in the trench with a measuring tape. I received 2 pics of the trench and no pics of the gas line actually in the trench. Since the trench line extends under the concrete that was poured I am praying that the City inspector will approve this. I would have thought that I would've receive more than just 2 pics (Pics H/I). 6) Side drains installed too high. Side drains were originally installed in the middle at the lowest elevation on each side of the house. They had to be moved due to the concrete going down each side of the house. When they were reinstalled they were placed at the highest elevation point and were not trimmed down or adjusted for the height. So for any water to drain using the side drainage system the water would need to be at least as high as the concrete edges if not a little higher. Not a huge issue but it does mean that under heavy rain (in CA lol) the water wont drain right (Pic J) 7) The remote control for the water feature doesn't work from inside the house standing at the sliding glass door (distance of 13'). I have to go outside and stand about 10' from the water feature. Not huge but annoying. Imagine having to move 3' closer to your tv to turn it on and off each time. Like I said not a huge issue but annoying NOTE - this seems like a limitation with the material and may not be Cal Pavers Pro issue. BUT they should have installed the remote control sensor outside of the center well area of the water feature for better reception IMO. There are other minor issues but I am not going to list them because I really don't have the energy to type and they may not bother someone else I have shown the job to my friends, family, and coworkers. Half have said the other issues not listed above are minor and they would let go and the other half have said "oh hell no" The rep came out and first stated that California Pavers Pro would provide rocks cover down the sides of the house and rock or bark for the back planter area because my satisfaction was important. Later they said only the sides would be rocked due to cost. And that was the last contact. In the end nothing was done - no follow through. In the end, I try to remember what my girlfriend says to me when I look in the backyard and start to rage/get pissed - "look you got most of it done even though you over payed. There is just some rework that needs to be done. We have time and we learned our lesson". She is right but it just sucks that I took out a loan for this and have to wait for this loan to be paid off before I can have this redone and finished in the future. read more

Sent me links to select pavers i could choose and after signing contract Adam, project manager was assigned to my project. Adam came 2 days before the project started and went over logistics once more. He was my point of contact for the project. The crew came and knocked off the project in 2 days after giving me a 3/4 day estimate. This despite the heat wave. DO NOT USE California Paver Pros for any pavement work! I contracted with California Paver Pros to do some concrete work in my backyard this past summer. After already experiencing issues with them scheduling the project date after signing the contract, I experienced even worse issues with the quality of their work and the unprofessionalism with the staff/customer support. After only a week or two of the job being completed, a crack already formed since the contractors did not continue the control joint from one side of the drain to the other. This is common knowledge for anyone doing concrete work, but California Paver Pros dropped the ball. See the attached image! On top of the botched work, they charged me an additional $200 on top of the contracted price without providing a change order or an itemized list of expenses as required by law. I contacted the California Contractors State Licensing board, and the board agreed Cali Paver pros violated their licensing law by charging extra money not in the contract. I went through mediation with the board and Cali Paver Pros. The three parties agreed that Cali Paver Pros Pros would fix the crack and refund my $200. Months later, Cali Paver Pros has still not refunded my money which they agreed to do with the State Contractors Board. I have followed up multiple times and no one calls me back. They patched part of the crack, but did not even patch the entire crack. This company is dishonest as they did not hold their end of the bargain which they agreed to do with the State Contractors Board. Do not use this company if you are looking for honest and quality work. Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions about my experience as I am sure Cali Paver Pros will deny any wrong doing. This has been a nightmare! After a stain job gone wrong I now have to pay thousands of dollars to have it corrected. I've been trying to have this project completed since March if this year. I was told numerous times that someone will call me back and no one has called to date. I have text messages from the company saying that they are sorry and promise to call and still nothing. The person who was suppose to complete my stain job no longer works for the company and they are "trying to find someone" to do the job. I've had other contractors come out and all say not only was the job done wrong(none of the area that wasn't to have that particular color stain was taped off so there is a ton of off spray everywhere) there isn't anything that can be done to sealed stain. I've never experienced anything like this from a professional company. Just shop around. Know who can do what. Maybe they are good at other things but my concrete says not at sting! read more

Was our experience with California paver pros excellent? No it wasn't. Would we use them again? Yes we would and yes we are (for another project). What would I change or improve about the experience? The communication and specific details from the beginning. Anything you tell the designer, be sure to see it in your final drawing. Gerardo and his crew did a magnificent job with our back yard renovation. They work so hard and very nice people. We filled in a pool, then had them remove a bunch of concrete, install 1500 ft.² of pavers, we had a water feature installed, synthetic lawn, sitting walls around our planter area with lights, and they will be installing our pergola for our outdoor bar/kitchen soon. My recommendation to anybody using them is to be sure you get everything specific that you want done put on the table 1st and be sure that all of the dimensions and details are to your satisfaction before you get the final estimate and especially before the project gets started. **Update: in response to my review below, California Paver Pros came back and adjusted the turf so the seam isn't as noticeable. They also nailed it down more securely so the dog can't pull it up. They removed the trash/repaired from the decomposed granite and secured the water faucet to the wall. To address the concrete finish, they power washed it, but unfortunately that didn't change the appearance. I appreciate their response and the attempt to fix what they could. The concrete integrity is good, so I'll just have to live with the splotchy appearance. I bought a new home in Sacramento in 2021, and as with all new construction homes, mine came with a giant dirt pit in the backyard. I had recently adopted a 7 week old puppy and needed the backyard done asap. California Paver Pros was making the rounds through the community as people were moving in, offering FREE design consults. I have to say, the design process was the best part of working with this company. Rick did a fantastic job with the layout of the backyard. He was communicative, he understood my vision for the yard, and he was very pleasant to work with. I signed the contract, paid the $1000 deposit, and was told my project would take only a couple weeks to complete. The start date listed on my contact was only a couple weeks from the date I signed. Once they had my deposit, dealing with them turned into nothing but a headache. They front office was absolutely horrible at communicating with me. The start date on my contact came and went with radio silence from the Cali Paver Pros. I called the office, no one picked up, I left messages, no one called back. Eventually I'd get ahold of Addie and she couldn't tell me when they would be able to start my project. A few months of this back and forth went on and I was ready to cut my losses and walk away when I was informed they would be starting my project the next week. Okay, I thought. Let's give them a chance, we've waited this long... Adam, the project manager showed up as scheduled the following week. Adam was much better at communicating with me than the front office and he did his best to address all my concerns while the project was ongoing. However, the guys working for him - their competence was questionable. If and when they would show up, they would work for about an hour, then leave. A project that should have taken a couple weeks took over a month and a half. I'll let you look at the photos and decide for yourself, but in my opinion their workmanship was incredibly SLOPPY and a couple things, including the mow strip pavers, had to be redone completely because they we installed incorrectly the first time around. The integrity of the concrete they poured is fine, no major cracks or chips outside the norm for concrete. I asked for brushed concrete, no staining. The finish of the concrete is splotchy. Adam told me it was just curing and it would even out, but it's been 6 months and it still looks as discolored as it did a few weeks after it was poured. Don't think it's going to change. I've reached out and haven't heard back. There's a giant visible seam in the turf. I was told they had codes for how the grain of grass was supposed to lay, and there was nothing they could do about it. I call bullshit. The turf is also not secured well, the edges are coming up, and the dog has found the seam and is able to yank the turf up at the seam and burrow under it. Bad doggie! I had them install a splitter so I could have a water faucet in the backyard. The photo below is what they installed. Looks like something a kid put together, they didn't even bother to secure it. And yes, it was rusty like that when they installed it. There's an empty plastic bag (essentially trash) in the decomposed granite path around my raised plater. It's partially pressed in so there's no way to pull it up without having to redo it. I understand hard scape is expensive, and I wasn't all that surprised when they quoted and charged me $16k for the yard. But the end product, in terms of quality, is not what I expected for the what I paid. Of course now that they have my money, I doubt they'll be following up with me on the finish of the concrete. There's not much they can do about it anyways - it was provably just crappy mixing job. So at the end of the day- 1 star for the design, 1 star for an end product that's somewhat presentable so long as you don't look to hard at the details. read more

California Paver Pros was amazing. Our initial design consultant Deric Williams came out and we put together the perfect, simple design we wanted. We signed the contract and within a few weeks we were underway. We had great status updates on the start date from Celia in the office and when the time came to start work, Adam Riggins came out and told us how it would go. Once work started we got updates from Adam on how it was going, and we did run into a drainage issue, which was quickly resolved and turned out perfect. I would not recommend this company. The design was great but the execution was very difficult. Appointments were missed, I had to call to schedule things. The job was done in Feb. 2021. The staining of our concrete had horrible white stains that were all over our backyard. They removed the stain in October, 8 2021 months after the job was done.They were suppose to come back to restain and its now been almost 4 months and they haven't even called me. I constantly have to call them to keep the project moving. Its been the worse experience I've ever had with a company . Scheduling is horrible. They don't call you back. I was promised a call back in Feb 2022 (more than a year after the project was done) so they could restain in Feb and I still have not received a call. read more

The good: paver installation seems structurally sound so far, though it hasn't really rained yet. The not so good: 1) Paver appearance - it looks like many drops of bleach dripped on the pavers (see attached photo). Manager claims this is normal in 20-25% of installations, and that the white spots will eventually go away. No timeframe given. One month later they look exactly the same, no improvement. 2) Incorrect measurements taken for project initially: 1 1/2 pallets of pavers ordered & paid for, only 1 pallet used. And they measured my yard and told me how much pea gravel to order to cover the remaining parts of the yard. But at the end of project, they had me order another 1 1/2 yards of gravel for the area that still needed to be covered. 3) Extra pavers left behind - the crew left the remaining unused pavers sitting near my driveway for the past 4 weeks, about 1800 lbs. of them - all disfigured with the white spots. They did not return any of my calls requesting that they pick up the remainder so we advertised them for free on a neighborhood site, and luckily someone wanted them and picked them up. 4) Contract was missing a couple of things that had been discussed originally (3-4 rose bushes delivered & decorative curbing/edge restraint). They were willing to dig the holes for the bushes which I will plant at a later date, and I agreed to go without the decorative curbing. 5) Irrigation system was left half-done. Apparently I need to have an electrical outlet installed, punch some holes in a hose, and connect some strings to my plants once they are planted. 6) Project started one month later than originally scheduled due to paperwork mis-filed at their office. While all of the above was frustrating, I plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau specifically for leaving the 1800 lbs of unused pavers behind. read more

I'd give them a zero star rating if possible. STAY AWAY from California Paver Pros, check out their Business Profile at the Better Business Bureau and the company has not been bonded since 2016. We had work done in our backyard patio by California Exterior Restorations, the parent company been California Pavers Pro. The work was far from acceptable. In an attempt to correct problems created by the Exterior Restoration team, we had to deal directly with the parent company California Paver Pros. Short story: California Paver Pros were told about the irregular appearance of the pavers after being sealed, irregular application of staining cement, stucco damage due to power washing. They sent the same work team back to our home, made the paver problem worse, dripped stain on pavers and yard lights, and ignored the damage to stucco. Calls made and emails sent to California Paver Pros are not acknowledged, they simply won't respond. I originally wanted just concrete and thought I'd have to do the rest to save money. Terrible experience! I had found this company through Yelp, and worked with Cecelia to get a consultation set up. The designer, Brandon, didn't show up on the day of the appointment. Turns out he had accidentally put me down in his calendar for the next day . The next day comes and we did a walkthrough of what I was looking for. He lets me know that I should be getting a estimate in 2 days. 2 days later, no follow-up from him. The next day I followed up with him and no answer. 3 days later, I followed up again and no answer. I then followed up with Cecelia and she said that she'll give Brandon a call as well their manager and will update me as soon as she gets an answer. Here we are today, still no word from the company. We are definitely happy we chose California Paver Pros. We wanted a simple-no fuss backyard with turf, concrete and pergola and worked with Jim Muncill to lay out a design that is within our budget and he really made everything smooth and comfortable for us from the first meeting through all the follow up. Jim even went with us to pick our trees and plants at a nursery since we are absolutely clueless what to get that is easy to maintain. He took time sending us photos for ideas and is very responsive thru texts/calls and really listened and valued our ideas that made the transaction so easy and quick. His team together with Rob N. who is our project manager worked with our busy schedules to get the job done even helping us get the permit from the city to approve attaching our pergola to the house. They were also very understanding and gracious enough to send their staff back to plant an extra tree when we decided we wanted to add another tree after the initial trees were already planted as designed. They wasted no time and we are so happy with our backyard. The quality of the project is superb. We will definitely be using them again to complete our front yard. read more

Overachieved on every level possible. I went with a cut rate crew for my retaining wall and paver needs. Halfway into the job I saw how not only would the finished product be substandard but I would also have to deal with the unforseen costs, and additional labor expense that ive experienced far too often. So I fired them and called Leo. I am in sales so I am familiar with decent customer service and excellent customer service and Leo went above and beyond. If he didn't pick up my Phone calls he would immediately call back addressing any and all concerns. No matter how small the detail was he would take note of it and make sure it transferred to the final product. After agreeing on a price and a start date I met Rob their project manager and Sanchez their point man for the work being performed. Rob walked me thru all the details to make sure we were on the same page and also made sure to call back Immediately if he couldn't pick up with answers for any and all questions I had. If he was unsure of anything he would meet me at the job site and game plan on making sure my expectations were met. halfway through the job I had a pattern issue which couldn't really be foreseen until pavers are laid. Rob and Leo got together and even though it effected their bottom line decided to eat the additional cost of shipping new pavers out and absorbing any and all restocking and return fees in order to gain my satisfaction. I do not believe I have ever received better service then what I have with these guys. Sanchez is the man. Made sure he Left the property clean every day and worked to a level of perfection that even the most disconcerting eye would appreciate. i now have the nicest front yard on the block and it is all thanks to these guys. read more
