13k and a nightmare to work with. The concrete patio was the worst work I have seen. I was ready to ask for a full refund but John stepped in and offered to redo the patio for free which is why I added a star- took weeks but it did get done. In the end, the project took 6 weeks. For a simple patio, a small dog run and a rock weed barrier. Lucy tried to sneak fees in and without my approval, had her workers rip out 2 of my bushes. After complaining, they replanted them days later but the plants did not survive. They also damaged my drip system (they did fix it after I brought to their attention) also, the workers left trash in the yard. John was kind and understanding but I will continue to tell my neighbors to stay away from them. read more

Her team is well-prepared, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented. Shortly after her initial visit, she provided detailed sketches of what we discussed. I attached a few of the pictures, but she also sent videos. The final project turned out even better than what these pictures captured. As someone who doesn't have a lot of money, I can tell you that doing it right the first time will save you more than cutting corners and having to redo or fix the original. Hiring any contractor is risky. You do your due diligence and hope you hire someone that actually does the work as advertised. By hiring Master Pavers and Landscaping, we believe we found the landscaping team that can easily be called The Best of the Best. Lucy, her husband John, and their work crew are the best in the business, bar none! Lucy arrived the day after I called Master Pavers to come and scope out a job for me after the first company I called never returned my calls. She was very professional, took measurements, and walked me through options that would make our yard more drought friendly. I had a limited budget, so I planned only to do my front yard. But since she was there, I decided to have her come and quote my back yard as well. Mainly looking for a cleanup to remove bushes, install weed barrier, and replace years' worth of old mulch. As promised, she provided me a quote the very next Monday, which was good enough that I had it within my budget to do both the front and back yards. Within 2 weeks they were able to start the work. The first work day came, and not only were the crew there bright and early, so were Lucy and John. They made sure that everything we discussed was properly explained to the crew and work was ready to start. About halfway through the job, I decided to ask if they might be able to fix my fence as well as it really wasn't installed properly and needed support. Lucy quoted me on the spot, which was more reasonable than any other quote I had received. We agreed, and the work was completed the next day. All in all the crew worked every day for 5 straight days. They did an amazing job, were extremely polite, and cleaned everything up after each day. Lucy and I were in constant communication via phone calls and text messages, so I knew exactly what was happening at all times. When you look for contracting work, all you can do is look at reviews and hope the people you are dealing with are honest. And that is what you get with Master Pavers. I was going for a much smaller project when I contacted her, but then I thought might as well decrease the amount of weeds, and went bigger. Her brother did a majority of the work and he was great too. Her husband was a super sweet guy. Both were friendly and easily approachable. Lucy was great with texting and phone calls, something I find rare in many contractors. She gave me a breakdown of the costs, so I was able to see what I was paying for. I hear from so many folks where I live that did not get a detailed breakdown of the costs. I really liked that. I feel sorry for the people who buy this house and don't want the planter. It was built so well, it will take forever to destroy it and remove it. One bad thing is I can't decided what to put in it, but good thing I'm not in a hurry. These guys work hard!!! This was a small job I was going to do myself, but after seeing what they did, I'm so glad I had professionals that knew what they were doing. Hate to leave a bad review but I don't want others wasting their time like we did when contacting Master Pavers for a quote. Lucy initially seemed nice, she expressed interest over the phone. However, that all changed when she came to our home. Like other reviewers mentioned, her attitude quickly changed once she learned we're getting other quotes. Didn't bother giving any type of estimate during her visit. I called her shortly after for follow up and to let her know our budget. She again, sounded as if she had zero interest and said "it would be tough to work with that budget." I never heard from her again. This was several weeks ago. She can't say she doesn't have my phone number either since she called me a few minutes before arrival. If the budget is tough to work with then suggest ways where we can save (BTW - I'm having the project done as we speak by a reputable landscaper that did just that). I guess with all the new building going on a $20k project isn't worth their time. read more

Like Nydia's review our yard was a total mess. I wanted to hire a company who could do all the work we needed. Clean out, drainage, sprinkler system, pavers and landscaping. We compared Master Pavers to about four or five other companies. We liked them the best and hired them. We did some remodeling a few years ago and the yard was turned into left over storage. John and Lu's crew cleared the whole place out. Then put in new drainage which had to go out to the front yard. They put in a drip timer system which works great. Then they put in the pavers (front yard, driveway and back yard). After that Lu helped us pick out plants. Their crew prepared the soil, covered the ground with plastic and planted the plants. Lu and John were great at follow up and keeping us informed. They showed up when they said they would and even worked over one weekend to finish up. Both Lucy and John were great to work with, and we love our new yard! Lucy helped us create a custom design and submit the plans to our homeowners association. We started with an empty dirt back yard and brought in beautiful pavers, a lawn, four raised planters, a variety of trees and shrubs which will all thrive in this area, as well as automated irrigation and drainage. John's attention to detail was fantastic. He added extra base under the pavers for our jacuzzi, and we were able to run the electrical directly under the tub. He's extremely knowledgeable, and made a number of recommendations which I'm very happy about -- including custom drainage for the hot tub, specific types of sprinklers, running water to individual plants in the raised beds. He also suggested future proofing for outdoor electrical lights (which wasn't part of the project), but means we won't have to tear up the yard when the time comes. Even though he had a team, he personally reviewed everything regularly to make sure the quality was high. Our yard was a total mess. We had no less than 4 landscapers come out for quotes and we knew instantly after sitting down with Lucelia (aka, Lu) that we were in good hands. She and John followed up regularly as our job was delayed due to a misunderstanding regarding the date of service for a fence company installation of our fence. In the initial review our yard looked like a simple enough job but after beginning work, John, Junior found the mess that lie beneath our poorly designed and installed sprinkler system by the original installers. I needed a COMPLETE overhaul and huge re-landscaping effort in my first home's large front yard. Front yards make such a huge impression about a property overall, and mine was a *serious* eye-sore. I knew I was going to be spending upwards of 15-20k and I wanted to make sure I really looked at my options. I chose Jon and Lu's bid after a few meetings (they were so patient with me and willing to explain!). I told to them that I wanted something clean, not complicated, quality, VERY low maintenance, and that it would last at least 10ish years. Nothing is worse than spending thousands of dollars and not really getting what you want and need out of it - during each phase of the project and upon completion, I was blown away at the quality and craft. I had paver's stone installed to create a patio, walkway, and widen the driveway. I also had landscaping done with rock, bark, and some plants to add dimension. I think the first week, I went outside 3 times a day just to stare at it in awe! :) The best thing about this team is their ability to JUST communicate effectively and within reasonable timelines. Based on the positive reviews on here, I was really interested in having Masters and Pavers do some work for me around a sprinkler system (either repair or new configuration). Unfortunately, while their website says it's a free consultation - this doesn't apply to repair work which is a $185 dollar fee just to check (applied to any work done; but unable to help me understand how much that work might actually cost). It would be great if this was spelled out clearer for people who are interested in having work done as the webpage indicates in several spots that consultations are free. read more
