Serge did an Awesome Job installing Drainage, Sprinklers and Sod in my backyard. The drainage he installed is incredible, french drain that drains perfectly outside my retaining wall. He took my above ground pool measurements and installed the sod around the area where the pool would be. The pool is 12×22 and he perfectly laid the sod around that area 14.5 by 23.5 oval. My husband and I called SLS based on their 5 star review. We wanted to make some changes in our yard, but we weren't sure what we wanted. Paul came out the next day and met with us. He gave us some ideas of what we could do. He didn't try and upsale us on anything. In fact, he suggested some great ideas on how we could work with what we had. We ended up having SLS install a flat stone patio with stairs, pour new concrete on the side of our home, re sod our front and backyard, and fix our sprinkler system. They did an excellent job! They didn't cut corners anywhere. When re sodding our front yard, they even removed weeds in between our cement and all around our palm tree. When their work was finished, they even came back a couple of days later to check on the sod and the patio. They take pride in their work and it shows. During the whole process, Paul was always available to answer any questions we had. SLS was very reasonable with their prices, and there were no hidden costs. Everyone that works for SLS is great. I desperately called these guys because I came home to a flooding driveway/yard? One of our sprinklers are leaking everywhere! All I want to do was stop the leak and do any repairs at a later time. I'm not sure who I talked to, but after 2 calls, they walked me through everything I needed to do! Tightening the valve did not work, disconnecting the wires didn't work but turning off the water to the sprinkler system, but not the outside water supply, worked! I don't know if the job was too small, est. was $3500 by another company, but an appointment for an estimate was made. I moved things around on my schedule to accommodate the time, and was upset that this company was a no show. No follow up call, no apology. The appointment was made only 48 hours beforehand. I saw these guys at the Cal Expo Home show and called to have them present an estimate. The job included installing artificial turf and decomposed granite in my back yard. SLS gave me the lowest bid (bids ranged from $3,000 to $7,500), however that was not the main criteria for selecting SLS. Paul came out and gave me a professional estimate. Paul had a wide range of turf to choose from and was very knowledgeable about the products and installing artificial turf generally. He also addressed my questions directly. I got a total of 5 estimates. I picked SLS because they gave me a good price, good selection of turf, they are a small family owned business and appeared to know their craft. We set a date and they arrived on time and did great work. The job required about 3 days. I am extremely pleased with my back yard, the job was outstanding and I love it!!! My wife and I had SLS redo the landscaping in our front yard. I had tried to landscape it myself last summer, but it didn't turn out very well, so I decided to hire the pros. Paul came out and gave me an upfront estimate to install new sod, redo the planter boxes, cut down a dying tree in the front yard, plant several bushes and two Japanese Maples, fix the sprinkler system, etc. The bid was VERY reasonable, and I was a little concerned that given the low price, the quality of the work would suffer. I give these guys five stars. My backyard was flooding in a corner of my yard and I though a pipe was broken. These guys canes out ran the system, and find the problem quick. Someone had move the solanoid to an open position so my sprinklers were leaking water. They ran the whole system to confirm and even gave me some tips on replace some sprinkler heads that are too old. Great guys and I learned a few things. They have rate to come out and look at the problem but that's what's expected. But they didn't try to up sale me of have me pay for something that wasn't needed. Highly recommend! read more

Our back yard was really something before SLS team helped us make it beautiful and inviting. Soil was uneven, weeds growing everywhere. Children could not play in the backyard because of uneven soil. I cannot count how many times my toddler tripped and fell while trying to run with the ball. We knew we have to do something! I researched Landscaping companies in the area looking for a company that would do everything with regards to spring cleaning my yard and hauling away concrete and old bricks to fixing my falling fence and planting appropriate plants and flowers. Other companies got high ratings but their customer service skills were poor compared to Paul and his family at SLS Landscaping services. He answered my call right away and scheduled an appointment with me as soon as I could meet him to look over everything I needed done. He provided me with an estimate the same evening. His pricing was very reasonable and he was very diligent in meeting our every need and wants. He came in and cleared all areas first and mind you, my backyard is very big with fruit trees and flower beds. He cut down all the weeds and sprayed everywhere with weed killer to prevent them from growing back any time soon. He then laid the weed cloth first in the front of my house and throughout my backyard as this is the appropriate process before laying any type of bark or mulch. He gave pricing and various options to select from with the mulch and we decided to go with the black mulch as it makes all your plants and flower beds really pop or stand out which is what we were hoping for and it did! Our front has beautiful curb appeal and nicer than all our neighbors on our block. Our backyard looks fantastic! It makes me want to have yard parties now with all the black bark around my fruit trees and rose bushes. On the side of my house we had dug up an old concrete planter box which looked a mess and took out all kinds of red bricks that made up the rest of the planter boxes which looked very ghetto! They broke up all the big concrete slabs and hauled it all away for us which really cleaned up the side of the house...wow we have all this space now to work with. Our fence...ugh! Nothing is more frustrating than the cheap pine fences our builder put up around our house that wasn't built right to begin with according to Paul after he assessed it. They did not dig the holes deep enough where they cemented the posts in which is why our fence is leaning and falling as well as coming apart. They went in and dug the holes very deep and cemented the post correctly. The best part was that they reused all of the existing fence material so it saved us a lot money in materials cost unlike my neighbor who had all new boards and labor for a small piece of fence cost him $1000.00 dollars. Overall, I was very pleased that Paul and his family really care about giving you everything you want with reasonable pricing and excellent service. I was so surprised that his father, mother, and brother all helped out in this job. They are a hard working family which have been in business for over 20 years and are licensed! YES...Licensed as well! They care about protecting their customers which is what the license provides which really made me feel good about hiring them. If you're looking for a trustworthy landscaping company...move along. Paul and his crew were not forthcoming and cut corners at every turn. Then, when it was discovered months later, that they failed to install a backflow preventer, causing the water inside the house to taste like hose water/pvc piping, a skeptical Paul insisted that the valve used had a built in backflow preventer. When asked to provide the specific part or receipt so that I could verify...he stopped returning my calls. read more

We were very disappointed with these landscapers. We went with them because after receiving estimates from 3 landscapers they were by far the cheapest option, however, I have already had to pay another landscaper to fix a drainage issue that they caused and I will need to pay more money to fix lots of other issues. Overall the yard looks nice but there are several problems of which I will just list a few here. They really skimped on materials, they put decomposed granite in a large area of the yard which was supposed to be 4 inches thick but in about half the yard is only about 1/2 inch thick so the weed cloth pokes through, I imagine that as wind and rain moves the DG and weed cloth around these areas will become completely exposed. They put lava rock on either side of the house, on one side they put a good solid amount but on the other side they put so little that most of the area is covered by a layer consisting of one single rock, it looks dark because you can see the black weed cloth underneath the rock. There is also a large square patch where they were storing some things from the yard and forgot to move them and put rock down. They built a large custom planter for us and I asked for a redwood planter but what they built was a pine planter sprayed with a redwood stain, I guess that was my fault for assuming that they understood what I wanted but I did show them pictures of redwood planters. The planter warped after about 1 week and the wood is bowing out in some areas, also most of the stain peeled off of the top wood after a few months. The irrigation system they put in the planter has not worked properly since the day they put it in, I guess they did not check it. They took some tools from our yard and I called them about returning them several times but they never did so I had to buy new ones. Paul called me after they had finished sealing our concrete and I told him that there were several things that I wanted to talk to him about that needed to be fixed, he said that he would set up a time to meet with me and I never heard from him again. read more

SLS Landscaping helped correct years of poor drainage on our acre lot. This was a big job with over 600 linear feet of trenching required. They identified problems with existing drains and yard drain lines and discovered root filled drain hoses and disconnected water collectors. They worked and dug for 6 days by hand, fixing old and creating new drain ditches. They were very careful about existing patios, sidewalks, and plants. If something was disrupted they put it back the way they found it, be it plants or a planting mound or a landscape light. When we pointed out an error, they were quick to fix and make it right. The senior member of the crew is one of the best hands-on drainage experts around. They followed up with calls to us after the next storm to see if adjustments were needed and came out on their own to improve one or two low spots. We can't comment on how reasonably priced they are as we never needed this kind of contracted work before the storms we've had. But the water doesn't come toward our back door any more, and that's a huge relief for us. read more
