Upon returning home I found my elderly neighbor out in front of her home in a panic. She had accidentally locked herself outside with no phone or access back inside the house. Although I live in Folsom, it was well worth the short trip up the hill to get spare keys made for my truck. The dealer wanted $150 to laser cut a spare key for me, and worse, I would have to wait a week, plus two trips to the dealership. I found Brian's service to be thoroughly professional. I learned that when you don't have two original keys, my truck has a security feature that requires a solid half hour or longer to complete the programming. Rather than being annoyed that he'd have to fool around with this job for so long, Brian apologized that it would take some time to complete. He's a good guy and fun to talk to, so the 30 minutes flew by pretty quick anyway. Since I didn't want to get caught short a key again should I lose one, I had Brian make 2 additional spares. Brian went above and beyond for us. We live in an old mobile home and needed a part that I didn't think they even made anymore. He researched it and found the right part online and got the job done beautifully. Because of the fact that the lock was about 45 years old and an odd size (everything about old mobile homes is an odd or non-standard size), plus the first latch he got came out of the box defective, it took a couple tries to get it done. Re: Ford Mykey system reboot The keyless fobs I purchased online came with a referral to California Re-Key & lock to wipe system, program and cut the new hidakey blank. Initially Brian indicated he doesn't cut keys he doesn't sell, when I mentioned the online retailer referred me to him, he then quoted me a price and asked me to drive to his location. Unfortunately, after several attempts Brian was unable to clear cars system of all previous keys, known as Flashing the system by removing the Limited MyKey feature and adding the new Admin key privileges. However, he did program the new fobs as Mykeys but wouldn't cut the keys until he researched a solution, this was on a Friday. By Wednesday of the next week I still hadn't heard from Brian so I sent him a text and he responded with directions to have me enter settings to clear Mykey, unfortunately, these settings are only available with the Admin key. Since he was unable to Flash the system he suggested there was something wrong with the key fobs but that was not the case. Instead it turned out to be the system Brian used to program the fobs. I called the company that sold me the fobs and they suggested another locksmith and admitted they do not actually know if the locksmiths they refer have the correct systems to perform system Flashes. Luckily I found another locksmith that not only flashed the system, programmed the fobs to Admin Keys, cut the blanks but also provided me with the key code in the event I ever needed a key made and didn't have one with me. I'm disappointed Brian wasn't more active in resolving the issue on his abilities to perform the job and left me hanging for days forcing me to contact him several times, after I clearly stated the need to remove the MyKey feature over the phone. I even supplied him video of the process but he was not helpful. I had to seek another locksmith who knew exactly what I was talking about. The only Pro was Brian didn't charge me for driving out to his house 45 mins away, having me leave without a completed job only to be forced to track him down to inquire if he could actually complete the job or not. But he eventually admitted he could not complete job based on the system he uses. The low star rating is based on the amount of time I wasted waiting for Brian to admit he didn't have the system to do the job and blaming it on the new fobs that I "didn't buy from him." read more
