Gymnastics for a 3 year old
    Linda M.

It's very close to five stars. I wanted to be enrolled here for awhile to make sure I have an accurate picture. We're almost finished with my younger daughter's second session and my elder daughter's first session. I doubt that my kids will become serious gymnasts, though you never know. But I feel Diablo would be a great place for those who want to compete as well as those who are in it for the fun and exercise. It's a big warehouse, in which all the gymnast equipment is spread around in different areas. While my three year old is practicing forward rolls in one section, my six-year old is working on the kid-sized high bar or practicing cartwheels elsewhere. I can watch both from a nice loft above the floor, as well as watch the remarkable teenage gymnasts flying through the air and working on their form. The loft is equipped with adult and kiddie chairs, and a few toys for the sibs to play with. The teachers are great with the kids. In the beginning, my younger kept wandering off and picking up the mats. I was ready to pull her out and wait another year. But they gently insisted that she follow the instructions, and after a couple of weeks, she was more focused, into the routines nicely and having a blast.

The classes have gotten too many kids!!! One instructor for 9 kids is WAY TOO many!!! My two daughters and I love this place. The instructors are friendly and courteous. It is clean and a nice atmosphere. They actually have air-conditioning which helps both me and my daughters while they train. We will continue to go here, unless the classes get even bigger!

Do you have plans to remove the "no siblings" rule for the waiting area? We are currently at a gym out of the area because I cannot shuffle all the kids around outside of the gym to accommodate the schedule for all 3. We would really like to join.

Can we have someone respond the emails?

When I inquired with Kazio about their ability/willingness to work with neurodivergent kids, I was told it was definitely an option; my daughter just needed to be evaluated to see if she would benefit from a private lesson or could do a group lesson. All of the coaches here are fantastic! My daughter really loves coach Malik and coach Madison; they are great with her, ESPECIALLY Madison! Madison is patient, encouraging, understanding and helps my daughter believe in herself. Although my daughter hasn't progressed like many neurotypical kiddos her age, she has made progress her way and I'm very PROUD of her! Every week my daughter looks forward to gymnastics and can't get out of the car fast enough to run into class. Thank you so much to ALL of the coaches, especially Madison!!!!!

They are very flexible with timing, makeup classes and other things. Their competitive team is awesome to watch and all the kids are very friendly and well mannered. In that email, they had old covid protocols from 2020. They really need to update their "welcome" information for parents. - The class is for ages 5-12 and they keep the kids together. The problem with this is that 5 year olds do not have the attention span or understanding as the older kids. To have them all together and essentially "punish" the older kids to hold a "stretch" position until the younger kids are able to catch up is not right. They need to split kids up by age groups and create a more positive learning experience. - Coach Sam is not someone who exhibits a positive cheer attitude. Both my child and my friend's child came back home talking about how mean she was. These camps are intended to be fun, she did not make it fun or treat the kids with respect. In the time when I was there, I also observed her lack of kindness. - Sign in and sign out process is a joke, they do not even check when you pick up your children. This is not safe, they should check when each child is picked up by an appropriate guardian especially if it's a camp setup like this. - Several children were new to cheer/tumlbing and needed help with the basics such as how to do a cartwheel, the "teachers" did not provide any help. They just told the kids to keep trying and to not interrupt them when they are working with other kids. How is a child supposed get help? The overall lack of actual teaching was really disappointing.

My 7yo daughter was invited to join the xcel team at the bronze level back in May and last week, we just got kicked off the team via EMAIL with no warning and no discussion.  Their email stated that "we have taken the time to evaluate the progress of our athletes and at this time, [my daughter] is not meeting expectations of our bronze level group requirements...We will go ahead and refund any assessment and uniform fees you have paid to date and drop her from the system."   I am beyond flabbergasted by the way they just kicked her off the team without the courtesy of a phone call or even an in person discussion. If they truly cared or was invested in their athletes, I would imagine they would have spoken to us and maybe come up with a plan to help her catch up. Granted, she was hesitant on bars but we had expressed interest in doing extra classes or private lessons on multiple occasions to help her be confident on bars, as she's fine with the other events. Not once did they say she needed it. Now all of a sudden, she's off the team.We theorize she got kicked off because of an interaction they had with my husband. During our last practice, my husband was inquiring about the outside choreographer that they were bringing in for choreo. The coach at the front didn't know and my husband pressed further simply to get more info so we could show our daughter what to expect. She apparently took that as him being aggressive. She could have easily said, "you can email the team coach." If anyone knows my husband, he is the complete opposite of aggressive - he's avoids confrontation at all costs. Later that night is when we got the email.   I just can't believe how they handled the situation. Parents aren't allowed to watch practice and this person they're bringing in isn't part of the gymnastics team/school - As parents, don't we have a right to know who is going to be working/training with our child? Don't we have a right to ask? Is it wrong to make sure our SEVEN YEAR OLD daughter is in safe hands?   I'm sad for my daughter but in a way, glad that this happened early on. I do not want to be associated or part of a team that gets defensive when asked questions and clearly doesn't care about their athletes.
