Well organized state fair. Ticket price is fair but $15 for parking is daylight robbery. Make sure to bring clear bags. They have a strict bag policy. I enjoyed the exhibitions this year. Things are well organized and fun. I mainly try to stay inside and avoid being outside too much because it's really hot so I didn't get to check out the rides area. Can't say if they are fun or not. Food is what you would expect fair food to be. Some places are decent. Some places are not very decent, but that's ok. I do like the corn dog and the wine slushy. The gyro we got is also really delicious. But I would get the frozen margarita it does not taste very good. Some staff are nice but some really do not give a single damn. I like that at each information booth there's hand sanitizer and sunscreen. They are also lots of hand wash stations all over the fair. I really appreciate that they are taking hygiene very seriously.

My favorite annual, summer activity! This was my third consecutive year at the California State Fair, and I love that there's always something new and always something nostalgic to experience. This year, I went on a Friday and planned my visit around the Toyota Concert series to see Ja Rule! I love that the State Fair hosts this concert series, and I even bought a ticket for a seat. $45 gets you a reserved seat, better views, and an overhang, which makes a difference when beating the heat. This was definitely worth it! I'm always excited to see the talent that comes every year, and I'm hoping that Fat Joe is in the rotation soon. Ahead of the concert, I explored the food vendors and exhibits. I started my day with Hot Dog on a Stick's pickle lemonade ($10) and I also got an order of the drunken pig fries ($14) - topped with smoked pork and beer cheese. Even the vendor said she loved that for me! Everything was delicious. Unpictured was the amazing tres leche cinnamon roll from building B! This is where we spent most of our time. Loved the taste of California classes too ($10 per ticket). This year, we enjoyed a wine and food pairing with Terra Amata, a boutique winery in Healdsburg. The State Fair is always a good time, and I appreciate that Cal Expo puts forward an effort to make the experience accessible with $2 Mondays, discount days for seniors, SMUD's food donations for complimentary tickets on Fridays, and Costco packages. I'm looking forward to going again next year!

I LOVE the California State Fair, i really do, sadly every year it keeps declining. Less new food options, food that was delicious replaced with run of the mill fair food. Exhibits dont have the same magic as when they did in the past. I hope by moving to the fall it gives the fair time to reset and come back stronger than ever. One of my favorite year's they had local food trucks and food vouchers. Please bring back more local flair as it spotlights the hard working community of Sacramento

I love coming to the state fair and I like going to the farm area where you can see all the fruits and vegetables as well you get to walk around the garden which is really relaxing there is even some live fish that they are keeping alive to showcase the bass and the carps. . I also like going to the Animal Farm where you can see all the little baby goats and even the Longhorns which is really nice and cool they it is pretty clean inside and was into dirty on the floor which I was worried about. . For the food I do like my Lobster fries which is always a solid choice they also have fresh made corn dog which is worth it if you love corn dog. I also like going to get my fried pork chop comes with applesauce and you can make it a meal for a $20 which comes with fried zucchini and fried onion rings french fries and coleslaw. I also like the Philly cheese steak sandwich which is a solid choice if you like that. I also like the Smashburger which is made to order and fresh as well. One of my favorite desserts is the cinnamon bun roll which is a musket you can add bacon on top of it and ice cream and even nuts. I also like getting a funnel cake which is a mess every year because I cannot find any just as good as that. Also I do love going to the CBD area and getting me a CBD slushie. My favorite combination of the CBD slushie is the toasted coconut and their unsweetened tea which is like a root beer float but less sweet. . I also like going into the shopping buildings and do a little bit of shopping and see what new items they have. It is always a plus if you get to go try out the massage chair which is really comfortable and if you love massages. I also like the cooking demonstrations which is really cool and there is from free samples as well. I also like getting my hot sauce and my tea and coffee and a little bit of everything like popcorn as well. . If you have time don't forget to try out the monorail ride which is really relaxing and perfect for ending the fair it is like a reward to see the whole Fair light up . Also don't forget to try out the sky ride if you like that as well which is really cool because you get to Dango your feet and you get to see the other side of the fair if you don't really like monorail which is really cool cuz it's a little bit more High up. Hope this review helps and thanks for reading and have a yelp-tastic day.

We had such a great time at the state fair and the food and drinks were really good and it wasn't so hot so it was nice. I got 2 new good quality wood signs from one of the vendors at the state fair as well and I got a good deal for them. The staff was so nice and helpful and friendly. We are planning on coming back on the 31st and to see Boys two men in concert also to walk around more to see whatever we missed and didn't see. And i always get a wine slushie from the wine garden it's a must there so good. If you haven't been to the state fair I highly recommend on going it's a lot of fun but it does get crowded at night with to many people.

We had a great time at the California State Fair this year! The fairgrounds are absolutely immense with so much to do, look at, and explore. The food selection is incredible with so many options to choose from, but it definitely gets pricey quickly. Just a heads up on the portions: we didn't realize how huge the chicken kabobs were and ordered two of them. We easily could have just shared one. Between the two kabobs and two bottles of water, the total came out to $66. The ride wristband for my son, which included the fast pass, was $81. When we went to other fairs this summer, the wristbands were about $30 less. But it kept him entertained and moving through the lines quickly. The summer weather was pretty intense, but the fair did a great job providing several "cool zones" where we could step inside and get away from the heat. A major highlight for us was riding the Sky Ride, it gave us a perfect, beautiful bird's-eye view of the entire fairgrounds.I heard that the fair will move to September next year to avoid the peak summer heat waves. Hopefully that happens, because it would make the experience more enjoyable

Enjoyed opening day at the state fair! Not too crowded, lots of food choices, everything was fresh and hot. Saw babyface concert for free. Tickets were $18 for adults and parking was $15. Fireworks at the end of the night were so nice. I'll try to go back before it leaves.

I took the kids to the state fair on 7/18. Now that I have a teen and tween I thought they should experience It. I paid for the parking and arrived around 10am and we were by the entrance. Entry was fairly quick considering I had purchased tickets ahead of time. I purchase the unlimited ride wristbands and we played 200.00 worth of games and I won a big cow. We petted the goats, cows and pigs. It was nice to see the 4h families and their Beloved pets at the fair. They had a candy maze, arts and crafts area, live music, state lotto booth to buy tickets, beer and an area to watch the World Cup. The vendors were very jovial and there were plenty of food stands. They got a turkey leg, foot long sausage which was amazing. I didn't like the pork ribs I bought - a tad bit tough, but we loved the lemonade and Dubai chocolate strawberries. This is a great place to go with friends and family to just have the overall experience and try different fair foods and listen to amazing music. The kids had a great time and said it was better than great America. As a mom I put alot of effort in the drive and put in the expense for a hotel and rental car - don't want miles on my car to give my family a great memorable experience.

    Great time!!

So much excitement. Exhibits were interesting, farm life active, and rides were spinning. Everyone was having a good time. Easy parking, we got there as soon as it opened.

Bought a season pass to the fair in '26. Pays for itself if you go more than twice. Another good time.

71/18/2025- Another annual family day at the State Fair-! Although we didn't arrive when they opened-, lucked out- no lines and weather was very nice-.. Very grateful as both my boys took the time to spend the day! A little disappointed with the exhibits - which we all love to see- the one exhibit was more like an empty building with a few vendors selling.. The livestock building only had goats- might have went at the wrong time-.. My oldest son had a very good observation point- When we walked by the seals- they were blaring out music-and one can only imagine the seals enduring that for how many hours-.. Massive corn dogs were $19.99 - better than last year which was all dough- Cinnamon rolls with a new Tres leches variety!". Glad we made it down... and looking forward to another year..

Parking is $17 on top of admission cost (advance purchase) at Cal Expo, and they enforce a ridiculous bag rule (bags need to be 5×8 or clear), a shitty policy that's super inconvenient. Besides these two things, I think the California State Fair has much improved in the last two decades and has plenty to offer for different tastes and preferences. Rabbits, alpacas, llamas, birds, cattle dogs, guinea pigs, goats, horses, pigs, and sheep can be found in the Tractor Supply Co. Big Barn. Obviously most of my attention went to the adorable bunnies! In addition to this, there's a petting zoo outside for guests to interact with the animals inside their pen (for a fee) and pony and camel rides on site (for a fee). The fair also offered sky rides on gondolas over the Sky River, and plenty of exhibits and entertainment for festivalgoers. I enjoyed checking out the Insect Pavilion at The Farm where I got to view and read about the greenbottle blue tarantula, thorny devil stick insect, and painted lady butterflies, cooking demonstrations galore and free tastings (tea sampling, honey sampling, olive oil sampling), the Superhero Exhibit (which looked fun for kids), the beautiful California Flowers on display, the animal sculptures at the California Forest Center, and the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs, classic entertainment at the fair not to be missed. The Drumheads were awesome! (separate review on this). The Sea Lion Splash was new to me and quite adorable (separate review on this). Master hypnotist, Tina Marie, did her thing at the PG&E Center Stage with a massive seating and viewing area in the middle of the Expo Center, I've seen her show too many times to count, at different locations, but she does the biggest show at this particular fair. At the Exposition Center, eight expo halls each featured a unique experience for visitors. I explored several that stood out to me, including a "Candy Maze" with some sweet photo ops, "It's a Wild Wild World Adventure" (Conservation Ambassadors' Wild Things) with several species of wildlife on display like black and white ruffed lemurs, kookaburras named Chuckles and Giggles (their bird calls sound like human laughter), capybara, red kangaroo, african crested porcupines, and reindeer, "POPnology" with displays highlighting pop culture's impact on technology, and the "Rustic Charm Marketplace" selling antique signs, furniture, and more. It wouldn't be a fair without carnival rides and games, great for kids. But I'm more amused by the various entertainers roaming the fairgrounds on stilts and community stage performers throughout, with an endless schedule and diverse lineup of live music by numerous bands. I enjoyed the sounds of Dylan Vroom playing tunes on the acoustic guitar, Michael Country Walker rockin songs like Tennessee Whiskey, and Jay Rin (part of a father/daughter duo) performing hits like Cups (When I'm Gone) and Come Together by the Beatles with her guitar and vocals, as well as the Silver City string band with its classic bluegrass and country music. The food court had a great setup, a stage on one end, a ton of shaded seating, and endless food stands lining both sides as well as the outside of the food court. No shortage of fair food could be found throughout the venue actually, lots of options to choose from. I had a pastrami sub from Grinders Sandwiches and of course a chocolate and strawberry funnel cake from one of many funnel cake vendors (they had at least 5 different stands selling these yummy deep fried sweet treats!).

The State Fair was a great and fun experience for my family and I. We love attending fairs and are fans of the LA County Fair in Pomona, Ca. We arrived with an open mind and agreed not to compare it to any other fair and we were not disappointed. There was so much to see and do here and the layout of the fair made for a great workout if counting steps in your thing. We arrived on opening day (Friday) just as the gates were about to open. The idea was to arrive before the weather became a bit too much and kicked our butts. Sooo glad we did so as four-hours into our visit, the weather was up to 105 but by this time, we had already visited and seen everything we wanted to see and do, This fair is fun and games (no pun intended) but food snd drinks can be pretty pricey. Glad we stopped at IHOP before our visit.

Ask the Community - California State Fair

    Is the fair still open?

The 2021 CA State Fair has been postponed. The Board of Directors is discussing the possibility of a slimmed-down Fair in the fall.

What are fees for parking & entrance?

$15 to park (cash only), $14 per adult to enter (credit cards accepted).

Is there free parking on the streets around the fair?

Yes, plenty of street parking across from the main entrance on the side streets off Exposition Blvd. However, it can be anywhere from a 10-20min. walk to the entrance turnstiles depending on your pace.

How much is admission to get in?

Too hot to go to with small kids?

It is very hot ...there were small children there when I was there.... but during hottest hours u can stay cool in the exhibit buildings and the eating are has large fans with misting water.

What's the best thing to eat at the fair? The lobster fries look tasty!?

I actually don't recommend the lobster fries. They use mostly imitation meat and there's nothing too special about their sauce. I recommend the basics: turkey leg, roasted corn on the cob (on the cob so you get that nice grill flavor!), churros, and…

Is the $5 coupon book worth it?

My friend received on free from her Groupon purchase and it just depends on what you're using it for. But I'd say if you're doing a lot of eating or games maybe but not really.

How much are individual tickets for rides? Like if I wanted to buy 5 tickets for a ride, how much would that cost me?

I've never attended the location at the Cal Expo but the location in Auburn was a beautiful park-like venue with lots of greenery outside in the open air. It was a nice place to hold the event. The weather was sunny and in the low 80's. Perfect weekend for ending the summer! Folks were out in their lawn chairs just enjoying the day. There was no shortage of entertainment (live native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander), fun workshops, Aloha merchandise, and delicious Polynesian food!!! There were resource vendor booths, educational exhibits, and an arts and crafts Keiki Korner, and lots more. Restrooms were nearby and the grounds was wheelchair accessible. We attended to watch my boss's little keiki participate on stage with the KŪHAI HĀLAU O KANOHEAOKALIKOLAUA'E PĀ 'ŌLAPA KAHIKO dance group led by Kumu Hula, Nohea Macugay. We also participated (attempted) at the Tahitian Workshop with the VAIPUNA NO TE HERE dance group led by Director, Stephanie Manuel. My daughter belongs in the dance group and was part of the workshop. -whew- what a workout. Also, saw my favorite band, Island Sunset Band, on stage. My favorite because "Unko" is a guitar player (married to Yelper, "Aunty" Ronnie B) This was a much needed coming together and made me miss the islands. However, there were hardly any cars, so we could do a slow, easy drive. It was still magical with lots of lights throughout this neighborhood. The standout feature was that the streets were lined with continuous strings of white lights that swagged down the participating areas, creating lit paths to follow. It was impressive! There were definitely some houses that went above, while others were more simple, but all delightful to see. Here & there, Christmas trees were in the middle of a court or roundabout. We aren't familiar with the neighborhood & lost track of how we meandered through, so next year we'll try to figure out a good route. We'll definitely plan to come back earlier during the next holiday season to enjoy the full experience.

Rockmont Lights in Natomas is all they say it is and more!…read more My friend, daughter and I wanted to check out Christmas lights last night and decided to check out Rockmont Lights instead of fighting the Fab 40's crowd. It was a first time for all of us and we weren't sure what to expect. We arrived around 7:30pm and it was already pretty busy, but we found some parking on a nearby street. Most of the streets surrounding Java Court were festively decked out and flooded with people - we made our way over to Java Court and I was so surprised to see a massive Christmas tree in the center of the court. There was Santa and The Grinch happily taking photos with families and a couple of fire pits that people were warming up by! They were handing out candy canes to passing cars and I believe they were even selling hot cocoa in front of a few houses! You can drive around the area, but I highly recommend walking it to fully experience the magic that Rockmont Lights has to offer! Make sure you bundle up though! Rockmont Lights definitely gives Dovewood Court and even some streets in the Fab 40's a run for its money! We will be visiting every year now and making it a new tradition!

Beautiful Time Celebrating Ancient Cultural Diversity in Sacramento!…read morehttps://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lantern-street-festival-sacramento?select=wSSUqMiUI0sCyIE8XEcSpw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w SITREP Fremont Park in Downtown Sacramento became the site of the lovely Lantern Festival. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lantern-street-festival-sacramento?select=Ay_BfKSvzAy8Nd9X9w4rzw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE SETUP Sacramento has a large Chinese community - and has had one nearly since the founding of this city, and definitely since the founding of The Great State of California. The Spring Lantern Festival ("Lantern Festival") is a Chinese festival celebrated historically on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. Fremont Park was the site for this year's festival and became a hub of activity with Decorated Lanterns, a music concert, a food truck convo, and so much more fun! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lantern-street-festival-sacramento?select=ud0mxk_sXgV9GGoSp91EdQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w LIGHT TOYS! A festival such as this DOES inspire some marked "branch-offs" when it comes to pleasing the sensibilities of children: many lighted toys make their way into the festivals. Many kids brought their light-sabers contributing to the visual array of lights. There are also some creations that I swear are Harry Potter-inspired, such as the "Lighted-Wands" that come with their own lighted globe on the end of the wand. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lantern-street-festival-sacramento?select=a2aUOqyuUd10pTam9dVN9w&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w ANCIENT HISTORY As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC), the Lantern Festival has been imbued with great significance for children, who go out at night, carrying their paper lanterns, and solving riddles that adults have placed on the lanterns. In those ancient times, lanterns were plain, and often only the nobility could afford the making of large ornate lanterns. These days, lanterns feature many different embellishments with intricate designs, including being in the shape of animals or symbols. THE WEST Because of our significant Chinese communities all over the United States, including here in California, the Lantern Festival is a significant Cultural Celebration. It is noted in many other Western countries as well, especially in cities with a large Chinese community: for example, in London, the Magical Lantern Festival (the largest Lantern Festival outside of China) is held annually. THE LOWDOWN A beautiful celebration giving we Sacramentans to enjoy some more great cultural diversity with our neighbors.

The space wasn't even at capacity for vendors and a majority of the vendors seemed like food items. I've purchased wholesale items before for my small business and a vast majority of the clothing is white labeled and marked up at a huge increase, which I get but don't try and pass it off as homemade. There was a sign for a full bar and maybe 3 food truck vendors as well as a live singer for entertainment. There is also a large sign stating no video or photography of vendor items which is kind of a bummer. Took me about 40 minutes to make my around the entire thing and I ended up purchasing nothing. Side note - the fliers they sent out to their mailing list says you can purchase tickets online for $6.50 but you also have to pay a processing fee BUT buying at the door is a flat $5, makes no sense. And there is no benefits to doing so online because you still wait in the same line as regular at the door ticket purchasers.

I guess overall it was disappointing.

I met up with friends and ran into friends I haven't seen in a while so this was a nice meet up. I arrived early as my friend has a table and we checked out the different food offerings and split up because the lines were going to be long so each person took on another order and got in line and bought the food to make the process faster. There was so much food to choose from I was so excited! We got Yakisoba noodles, Udon noodles, teriyaki grilled chicken, rice, and my favorite!! The beef sandwich it was huge! And Spicy tuna sushi rolls. They had desserts of all kinds for sell, but I didn't get any it looked amazing thought. It was a lot of people and long lines everywhere. I had a great time enjoying food with friends and just mingling. I will definitely come back next year it is well worth it and the food is fantastic! They also had a band performing ol'skool music. If you haven't been you have to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

We got there around 11:15 (it started at 11), and there was already a huge line of people waiting to get in. Parking was difficult -- we had to park in another neighborhood pretty far away. There was definitely a wider selection of food options compared to other bazaars -- karaage, teriyaki, curry, udon, sushi, tempura, Gunther's ice cream, mochi, anpan, and manju. The only downsides were that it was already very hot and extremely crowded, with people shoulder-to-shoulder- most of the food was outside. Sushi and udon were sold indoors. They also had taiko and some other performances throughout the day. Worth going at least once, especially if you've never been to a Japanese bazaar!

The festival was Friday and Saturday for 2024 and we attended on the Friday. It's free to enter. We arrived on the earlier side, around 5pm and it wasn't too crowded and lines for food were short. We grabbed drink tickets, which were reasonably priced- $8 for beer, $12 for cocktails and I think $10 for wine (we didn't get any wine though). There was music, a silent disco, local vendors, and on Friday there was a private Grand Tasting event that costs extra and was sold out the day of the event. We ended up stopping for drinks with Midtown Spirits, grabbed some adobo bacon jerky with Baboy Boys, a chicken and rice plate with Sweet Mother 101 and a bucket of lumpia and chicharones from Lumpia Bucket. It seemed like prices were a bit more festival prices than everyday prices, but the food was good! We walked around for a while, visited some of the interactive booths/vendors and headed out after a few hours. As we were leaving the crowds were getting larger and the lines were getting longer. They had music going throughout the event, and it was fun to listen to. Next year we plan to come on Saturday and start early in the day again. We would also consider doing the Grand Tasting in the future.

It only happens for three days in November. This time I felt like our lives were starting to have a semblance of routine and normalcy. We chose a Saturday to attend. Masks of course, were required and we were even asked to show our Covid-19 vaccine cards. I looked forward to seeing several of my favorite artists, but alas, they were not present this year, except for one. I did splurge on a lovely glass blown sea creature design by Shawn Tsai. But many wonderful artists did participate this year, making it an enjoyable day. We still made a point of visiting the regulars, seeing some new ones, and missing the ones that were not there this year.  But at least we had a full and enjoyable day making special purchases and conversing with some of the friendly people. It's nice to have more culture in our area and this show is one that makes you more aware of the beauty that people can create and inspire! The yearly tradition resumes!

Hopefully I will find some great Christmas presents for the family at the same time. After a stop for banana nut pancakes and Belgium beer we finally made our way into the convention center while a band played some smooth jazz in the background. The first thing I noticed was that the venders had their noses stuck to their cell phones, i-pads, and Kendalls. No one seemed to be paying attention to their potential customers. Is this what our world has come to? I wanted to yell at them; "put down your phones, the real world is out here". This baffling behavior continued until I finally came across a tie salesman from Berkeley by the name of Mitchel Rubin. You might think there is not much interesting about ties, but that would be because your eyes have not crossed paths with these whimsical artistic masterpieces. Mitchel not only had regular neckties but had pre tied bow ties and bow ties that you had to tie yourself for the bow tie purest and if that was not enough to get you all excited he had whimsical artistic suspender masterpieces as well. This guy was talented! He even had matching sets. Of course my girl friend had to check out all of the handcrafted jewelry and we both enjoyed the various pottery and hand blown goods. Then my girl friend found a comfortable pair of sandal that she could not pass up and I found a couple of hand thrown coffee mugs with frogs and dragonflies to buy my sister for Christmas. We stopped for a couple of frozen mochas (this has become an annual tradition) before continuing on. It was not long before my girl friend came across a ceramic masterpiece she had to get for a family member and I came across a hand blown glass Christmas ornament that looked kind of like a sparkling avocado (I buy my daughter some kind of handcrafted ornament every year). That is when I realized that I had not bought my annual Todd Borg suspense novel yet so we went in search of the Novelist from Tahoe. After purchasing the latest "Owen McKenna Mystery Thriller" and having Todd Borg personally sign it, we had just about conquered the show when my girl friend decided that we needed to get a present for a very special friend of hers so we spent at least another hour looking for the perfect present that would most clearly express our love for this friend. It was truly another successful year at the Sacramento Arts Festival.

We went a little ahead of this year's December 14 start date, but many homes were already beautifully decorated and fully lit. One of the highlights of the evening was a young boy selling excellent hot chocolate to benefit the SPCA--such a sweet and memorable touch. We arrived around 6:00 pm, which turned out to be perfect timing. It was fairly uncrowded when we started, but as the evening went on, the number of people and cars steadily increased. My recommendation would be to go early, park nearby, and walk the neighborhood. It's the best way to take your time, enjoy the lights, and really soak in the festive atmosphere. Overall, it's a lovely way to celebrate the holiday season.

It was only recently we attended if we weren't away traveling as my wife loves a huge festival that entails lots of walking, live music, shopping & food. It's an ideal place at autumn time with giant pumpkin weigh-ins. This year 2025 the top pumpkin weighed 2,147 pounds! Brian Werner from Gridley California won. This year they also had a scarecrow contest, pumpkin recipe contest, lil pumpkin cupcake & youth art contests. There were also multiple stages of entertainment & the pumpkin regatta happened on Sunday. We didn't arrive here until after an hour of opening yet they had plenty of parking at 20 dollars a pop. We did spend several hours here so it was worth our time. Also they do have kids rides & activities for them! That tractor tram ride for kids only looked so fun! It is really a family friendly event! This year we bought their Mediterranean food: chicken gyro & lamb salad. Service was good. My chicken gyro however was meh. Yet my wife loved her tasty spicy lamb salad as she ate the entire entree bc she was hangry! That value on that salad was worth it to her! My wife even purchased her favorite chocolate dipping' dots bc people kept walking past us eating them! We also observed some people dressed in costumes & lots of furry friends on leashes. An ideal place for people watching too! The weather was the most perfect right after a stormy week! Not hot as the temperature was nice & cool! Last Saturday it was odd though as the internet was down so they encouraged to bring cash! Cash is King! Now if you missed this year's festival make it a point to attend next year. It usually occurs the first weekend in October. You will be highly entertained. Seriously. My wife thought her pictures she captured were exceptionally pretty bc of the beautiful pumpkin orangey colors especially against the greenery background, bright sun & blue pond. It does make you appreciate our lovely sunny California weather. We are truly blessed.

I don't know but perhaps I was influenced by someone years back telling me it's not worth coming because there's hardly anything. Boy were they wrong!! I enjoyed every minute of the GPF. Sure it's mostly for kids but I as an adult, with no kids, I still had fun going. There are plenty of food vendors, coffee vendor and a variety of desserts (ice cream, kettle corn, shaved ice). The cooling desserts are much needed on a hot day in October like it was this past weekend. Don't forget to bring a water bottle, hat & sunglasses since you'll be at the park for a couple hours. The vendors are all spread out in Elk Grove Park so there's an ample amount of walking to experience all that there was to offer at the GPF. My friend and I got there close to opening on Sunday morning which is the last day. We did hit a bit of traffic, however, traffic was moving and we weren't stuck on the street for more than 5 minutes. If you go early, you'll find good paved parking. If you go later, you'll be parking in the unpaved areas. Parking was $10 and it is all day or you can chance it and park in the neighborhoods. I was most excited to see the pumpkin regatta but we didn't get to see it because I think they started rowing the pumpkin boats slightly before 12 pm (12 pm was scheduled time). I did see them carving the pumpkins when we arrived at 10 am. There's plenty of photo ops for little kids and adults in the pumpkin village and there was also a scarecrow contest. Many of the vendors give out useable freebies which can be used during the festival or later on. There were also other small businesses that had their own booths such as arts & crafts, trinkets, hand made soaps & bath bombs etc. Plenty of things to do for the whole family of all ages. Just a note, there are 2 different events for Saturday and Sunday. The pumpkin weigh-in occurs on Saturday along with some other fruits & veggies weigh-ins. Sunday is the pumpkin regatta and the big splash after the regatta. There are also different events at the main stage and smaller stages too. Next year, I'm coming on Saturday to watch the pumpkin weigh-in. The winners for the pumpkin weigh-in were present on Sunday with their awards, and there was a final standing for all participants.
