One of my favorite parts was how interactive it was for kids. They have a scavenger hunt that keeps them engaged while exploring the museum, which makes it fun for the whole family. My kids loved searching for the clues while checking out all the different aircraft. There are planes both outside and inside the museum, and the exhibits are well laid out so you can take your time walking through everything. It's a great place if you enjoy aviation or just want something different and educational to do with the family. Definitely worth the visit. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!

There are a couple of Russian MIGs, but the rest of the collection are American aircraft. There were a few aircraft I have not see in any other air museum on the west coast, like the F-100D and the F-86L. I also went to see the Snoopy and the Red Baron Exhibit. There were a lot of comic strips to view. I really like how they were blown up and not newspaper sized, because they were easier to read that way. I wish the screens would show all of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and What Have We Learned Charlie Brown instead of just the Red Baron excepts. It eventually got repetitive as I was reading the strips. I like how they have a cafe inside the museum. There was no food available within walking distance that I could see. I had the tuna melt. It was fresh and very good.

We bought our tickets for a first class rail excursion it was very cool. The train cars were refurbished and brought back to their original glory. It was a pleasant 3 mile ride along the Sacramento River. There are train experts in the car with you giving you all the history about the trains and Sacramento. It was educational and fun. The Sacramento Fine Arts Center was extremely busy today, as you can tell by the number of cars in their parking lot. People were meeting with the director going over the available space and others were in the galleries. They have a nice gallery with filled with local artists artwork. They are all juried so you only get to see the best of the best of local artists. Today's painting with paper class was taught by Carol Hawkins. She teaches a monthly classes and plans them out a year in advance so you can get the dates from her. They are monthly on a Friday from 1-4pm. And $75 for the class. She takes Cash or Check. It includes all of this supplies. It's the only way I take classes these days. Buying your own supplies is over rated. You end up with extra supplies you will never use and a total waste of money. That's why I keep coming back for her classes. 1-4pm is the perfect time, you miss most of the traffic and it's during the day light. The only issue is trying to get time off from work, which is tricky. I do treasure my time taking art classes and I find this painting with paper class very enjoyable. I always come home with a wonderful piece of finished artwork. Not all classes are like this. Some classes they don't give you enough time to finish your projects so you end up with a pile of unfinished projects in the back of your closet. This isn't an easy class. You have to have a vision and work fast. There is some time to chit chat, but you also need to be very focused. It takes just the right artist to take this class. Carol also teaches an acrylic class on Saturdays twice a month 1-3pm. It's $35 All supplies included except for the canvas. She asks that you bring a 12x12 or a 11x14 canvas. I got a great deal on a pack of them at Hobby Lobby on sale. I need to take another acrylic class as I have several canvases pre purchased for the class. I don't need to get time off from work to go to the class, but I hate to spend the time away from my family on the weekend. I need to work on balance. I really love taking art classes and it's not always easy finding a good class that work into my schedule. I've taken so many art classes over the years that I've run out of wall space so now I have a gallery in my garage. Our garage is painted a light lavender color as that was the paint that they had on sale at Lowes. It's a great backdrop to my gallery. I hang up my painting with push pins to keep them secure. It works well for the light stretched canvases. The Sacramento FIne Arts Center also has a full community kitchen. I had lunch in it today. I brought my Tupperware full of delicious leftovers and used their microwave. They also have community coffeemakers so you can make several pots at a time for a gallery event. You are welcome to use their kitchen, just leave it how you found it or even cleaner. I hope to see you at the Sacramento Fine Arts center for the next painting with paper class or maybe we can surprise each other and show up at the acrylic class.

The directions were not clear as to where we were supposed to arrive. There was no address to meet at. After going back and forth with customer service, they eventually gave a landmark, which did not exist in the uber and Lyft apps and was questionable on Google Maps. Everyone in their uber got dropped off to different places. The directions also said to go to "the yellow building" -- but when we arrived, there were several yellow buildings. The tour guide also was not carrying a lantern, which was part of the directions given (look for the person carrying a lantern.) When we finally found her, we asked the tour guide where her lantern was, she said she didn't want to carry it around all night. We also believe the tour guide was late. We were in the area looking for her for about 15 minutes and we passed by the same spot she ended up being at several times and did not see anyone. Finally they called and we went back to the spot and she was there. This was around 5 minutes past the start time. Then she told us we only have until 7:30. So we are ending on time but she didn't start on time? The tour guide took us around to several bars, but the first one she admitted that it was not even haunted, or that she was not sure if the bar was haunted or not as she was not familiar with the bar. So I'm confused why we went there? There was also no indication that this was only going to be an hour and a half. It was fun bar hopping with our friends in some spooky places, but considering I paid almost three hundred dollars for the group I expected a higher quality experience.
