I'm so disappointed. I thought I had found a diamond in the rough with this shop. I was quoted a great price (to good to be true?) for my 2011 Sierra for a 6L80 6 speed. It was installed and I headed home (40 miles). I had to immediately return to the shop once I got home due to a leak. It was quickly corrected and I was on my way again (120 miles under my belt so far this day). 1 month later the tranny failed. I took it back and it was swapped out. This one lasted 12 months before it too failed. This time I took her to a reputable shop, Angels El Toro Transmission. Angel's told me that I still had the factory torque converter and factory TECHM (never replaced by CT as I was told). What a disappointment. If this is read by CT, I'd welcome a contact for follow up. read more

I took my 2004 Chevy avalanche in and they said the transmission had to be replaced. They replaced it for about $1800. When I got it back it would occasionally stall in reverse and they told me it had nothing to do with the transmission even though it wasn't doing this before. They said it was an idle issue or something so just keep driving it because it may need to break in. Eventually it started slipping and then they told me it needed to be replaced. They charged full price because the warranty expired. Transmission only has 7000 miles on it. Now after 20,000 miles on the new transmission it started slipping again. If you actually want to have your vehicle be reliable my advice is take it anywhere else. read more

I dropped my Acura MDX back in March 2020 for transmission replacement, during Covid. Initially, when I got my MDX back, there were issues. I was a little disappointed, but I called Izzy. I talked to Izzy, and immediately, I had the sense that he would take care of the issue. Not only did he request that I bring my car back, but he actually came down to meet me in San Marcos. Again during the meeting, I sensed he was a man of his word. I felt assured and he took care of some loose bolts, and felt assured of the 1 year warranty. I did also notice a stutter in first and second gear when really giving it gas. I notified Izzy in October. He simply said, "bring it in." His team them troubleshoot and fixed the issue. The issue is totally fixed. The car shifts awesome! This right here is how you are suppose to conduct business!!!!! All other business owners out there who have auto shops (and WANT or NEED to be successful) should bring out a pen and paper and take notes... I give CA Transmission 5 stars hands down: I contacted Israel and Fito on Day 1 to advise my situation and what I needed. I received a fair and reasonable out the door quote in less than 1 min into the call. Before the call ended, I was advised the length of time it would take to remove my old transmission from my 01' Acura TL, install a rebuilt tranny and torque converter, and the exact day it would be completed (provided no additional obstacles or additional repairs). Fito explained to me that once the tranny is dropped, he would thoroughly inspect all mounts and advise me of any concerned findings prior to installing the new transmission. I came back to the shop 3 1/2 days after I dropped it off, test drive passed inspection and final receipt reflected as quoted initially over the phone. Driving the car approx 30 miles from the shop just to check myself, it became apparent that there was a new tranny in my car, no slipping, no hesitation, no more CEL, TCS or blinking D5 light. I am very satisfied with the service I received, the humble attitude of both Fito and Carlos, as well as how they handled and took care of business... No beating around the bush BS, no up-sell BS, no broken promises or trying to get over on someone to make a quick buck BS. I recommend this shop specifically to anyone out there who's looking for honest mechanics, honest and fair prices, and top notch service. It's very clear how much business these guys get on a weekly. Work was completed quickly and the civic is back on the road. They noticed my motor mount was bad and asked if I wanted it replaced. Well, over all the only thing keeping me from doing a 1 star was the customer service I guess. They are nice guys but the work they do is not high quality. They rebuilt my tranny in sept. Four month later it went out on me in Arizona so I had to pay for a tow back to alpine (where I live) then have to towed to San Marco to this place. Hoping I would get some discount or deal maybe a $100 off or something for the hassle of getting it towed an hour up north. But no I had to pay $850 so he gave me $50 off (a slap in the face pretty much). Even though they just rebuilt it four months ago. Not only that a texted him thinking it was the pump which it was and I asked how much it would be to tell it. He said "$800ish." Anyways I was fine paying that but very annoyed. The real problem is they didn't even put everything back together right. There is now an exhaust leak and the rear end makes a very loud noise when putting it into reverse. Called them and told about it when I got back. He said I can drive back and they'll take a look at it(it is literally an hour drive for me which I told him multiple times). He didn't mention anything about pricing so I'm assuming he'll charge me because that's all they care about is money. He could not even give me a $100 off the damn thing!! Overall DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT QUALITY WORK, they will charge you like they are the best tranny shop around which they are not. I will only come back here if I know my tranny is under the warranty, which they will probably some how get around it. NOT QUALITY OR PROFESSIONAL WORK BEWARE. read more

I originally took my 2005 Acura TL to the dealership because yes I'm that person. However I was not going to pay 6k!! Luckily Acura knows me and knows I service my car there very often and also agreed 6k was too much. They referred me to California Transmission. ( dealerships don't often do this) so I ran with it. From my first phone call Fito had me sold. He was very kind on the phone, answered all my questions and gave me a scoring $1,600 quote for new transmission, installation and warranty!! Wow! Dealing with Israel on the phone and Fito in person both were like a dream come true! After getting much higher estimates on rebuilding or replacing my slipping transmission in my '03 Honda Odyssey (a series of years of this model being known for tranny problems as it turns out - I bought my Odyssey used last summer and afterward discovered via the Internet and Carfax that it had had more than one tranny problem), I was told by a Service Advisor at "Carlsbad Honda" about "California Transmissions" in Chula Vista, a family owned business that only works on Honda, Acura, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. The price I was quoted was approximately a third of what other businesses had given me. I made arrangements to bring it in immediately! I brought it is on Saturday morning, and picked it up Tuesday mid-day. The vehicle is driving very well, and I coudn't be happier. Fito couldn't have been nicer nor more informative. Very Bad! I didnt even get service because the guy who answered the phone said "I dont work on Fords". When I asked if he could recommend me to someone who did, he said "I dont recommend you to anyone". I got a transmission replaced. I had issues with check engine lights coming on. Fito was cool at first, replacing torque converter. Months later had more transmission problems. I offered to pay more for a better torque converter but they said no. Sensors would set off lights and kept having to bring it in. Big waste of my time and not having my van. Ended up warranty running out and they said too bad warranty is over. Would not recommend them to work on your car. It was frustrating having to take car there, leave it for them to repair, and the issues reoccurring over and over, and in the end I had to take it to another repair shop that fixed the problem. read more

Brought my 2001 Honda Accord here for a tranny replacement @227k miles. I was considering purchasing a new car but with the price Tony offered I figured it was a better decision to keep my car going for a few more years.
