I brought three different vehicles to this shop. The first visit went smoothly with no issues, which is why I continued doing business with them. Unfortunately, I had problems with the next two vehicles. On the second vehicle, the underskirt was not reinstalled properly and came off on the freeway. When I brought it back, I was told the clips were "just worn" and that this "happens." I was already aware the clips weren't new, but they were not in bad shape and had never caused an issue before. No responsibility was taken. On the third vehicle, interior parts were broken during the visit. I wasn't informed at the time and only discovered it afterward. When I asked about it, I was told that "cars get old and brittle and things break." Again, no offer to repair or replace the damaged parts. I understand older vehicles can have age-related issues, but proper installation, communication, and accountability are important. After multiple issues and the same response each time, this will be the last time I bring any of my vehicles here, and I won't be recommending this shop. read more

DO NOT GO TO Driveline Vista Autoshop!!!!! Took my vehicle in after being recommended to them. I checked my GPS in the car a few days after and found that they had driven my car a total of 24miles! Looked closer and they took my car home (apartment complex) overnight, and not before stopping at a park to pickup their kid from summer camp. They then proceeded to take it out again 1.5hrs after getting to their house to make a run to Costco and Tacobell. Next morning, they again dropped their kid off at summer camp in a park, which is past the autoshop by double the distance, and drove back to the shop! When i confronted them, never got an offer for a discount on the work, no offer of getting the car detailed, and not even an apology from the owner Frank. Will be filing a suit and complaint with CA Bureau of Auto Repairs. I live in San Diego and couldn't find anyone to fix my rear end on my lifted F-250 but I called Driveline Vista and Frank was very welcoming and scheduled me an appointment the next day. I brought the truck in and Frank was right on it the next morning! Instead of just replacing the part that needed replaced he went through the whole suspension and driveshaft and found multiple issues with my suspension. He did the right thing and fixed issues that caused my part to fail the 2nd time until I brought Driveline my truck. Frank replaced hardware and recentered all my mounts and tightened everything down to spec. I can't be happy enough with Driveline and recommend everyone to them! Took my Jeep in for a front axle replacement along with an alignment and overall the price ($800) out the door was reasonable and repair was done in timely fashion. My issue begins with my front brakes and rotor replacement that they charged $600.00 for. That type of pricing is outrageous and unfortunately I was not made aware of the additional cost; had I known it would cost that steep I would have declined. I can do this myself as I have in the past for $250 and under. Whether or not it's my fault for not verifying the price of the additional services or not, their mark up on the brake pads and rotors is insane and I feel robbed. Furthermore, upon looking at the axle replacement that was done on my passenger side, most of the grease that leaked from the CV boot is still caked all over my upper control arm and wheel well. For paying $1400 I would expect that the job would be cleaner. Franks a really nice guy and I personally had nothing negative to say until I was hit with an additional $600 on the brake situation when I picked up the vehicle. The lack of confirmation on their behalf regarding pricing for this is disappointing as this was not the case when they priced out my axle and alignment. Again, overall I'm walking away happy on the axle replacement but would never take my car to get normal maintenance done if that's the type of pricing they offer. read more

I took them into another shop for verification and had them checked with a very reputable Mobile Mechanic that I've known for some 30 years in which he came to the same conclusion as the I. G. My previous visits had been exceptional. However, I recently took in a 72 F-100 to have the brake system diagnosed and repaired. The system was in bad shape and the parts list included front brake drums, new wheel cylinders, brake pads, master cylinder, etc... Long story short, $1600+ later I pick up the truck and drive home happy. This past weekend I finally had a chance to crawl around the truck. Zip ties holding the front right brake line in position at the top support and lower support location. Rigid line in same location is rubbing against front axle. Back right backing plate cover not installed. Rigid lines that were replaced in the rear poorly routed and not following the contours of the axle. Very unhappy at this point. Certainly makes me wonder... if such shotty workmanship is visible on the outside, what was done inside my brake system that I cannot see? 8FEB2021 ***UPDATE*** I contacted Hector at Driveline and made him aware of my concerns. He was extremely courteous and asked that I bring my vehicle in immediately. He provided a rental vehicle while his team conducted a complete inspection of the system and corrected issues. read more

Called and spoke with Frank about getting my own part, a carbon fiber driveshaft swapped on my 2018 Mustang GT. He was very helpful and quickly booked me an appointment and a very reasonable quote. Come install day Michael worked on my car very meticulously, reading included installation instructions carefully and paid lots of attention to detail even marking each bolt after applying the correct torque specs and sequencing. On the test drive home, I immediately felt the performance gains from the lightweight driveshaft, acceleration, handling control and braking were substantial, but most importantly, all with zero NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) which could only be attributed to a proper installation job. If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. Yesterday about a 1/4mi from work I heard a loud pop and had instant vibration on my 7.3L F250. Limped it into work and noticed that my rear drive shaft had sheered a knuckle on the differential side of the U joint, cracked the yolk and blew out the mid shaft bearing. I was able to drop the shaft off the truck during some downtime at work. Driveline Vista was the only shop in San Diego county that seemed to be open on a Saturday, however they close at noon. I called Frank at 9:30am and asked if I could bring it in for a diagnoses and quote. I work as a firefighter and explained to him that today was my only day of before returning back to the station (where my truck was parked) for another long go around. He said "absolutely! Bring it in ASAP". I was able to borrow a coworkers truck at shift change and bring my driveshaft in. Now, I get how mechanic shops are for the most part, and expected to have to make arrangements for a rental car and pick up the repaired shaft in a week or so. NOPE! Frank got a technician right to work on the repairs. He ensured me that they would turn it around same day, even if they had to stay late to get the work done. Frank and his crew worked overtime, on what was supposed to be their half day, and assuming they took time away from their families to ensure they completed the job. Repairs included 3 new U joints, cut off old yolk and weld on a new one, new mid shaft bearing, and full balancing. They accomplished this in about 4hrs, 2 of which was presumably them staying behind to get the job done. Repairs look extremely clean, amazing welds, and was delivered all wrapped up and repainted. I run a busy independent repair shop in north county. We have been in business for almost 40 years. I have been doing business with Frank for over 20 years. Driveline Vista has built at least a dozen stock and custom driveshafts for the shop and at least 3 for me personally for my Jeep. In June of 2024, I sent him a shaft that had a damaged front CV joint. Our request was to replace the CV, balance and return. We already had a quote for $350 from another shop to do that work. After picking up the part Frank called and said the whole shaft, slip joint, rear Ujoint and rear yoke were all bad and a new shaft would be $510. I asked him to return the shaft to the shop. He said there would be a $25 fee for delivery. I told him no problem, deliver when you are near our shop and I will have payment ready. After a week the part had not returned. I called Frank, at which point he said he would not return the part and threw it away. I offered to come to him and pick it up but he said it was too late. I asked if could help out on the price since he threw away our part and he said no, sorry. I again offered $350, but he declined, stating our relationship of 20 years and $150 wasn't worth it. Bottom line, beware of this shop. If they won't make this right, I can't imagine what would happen to a first time client with a problem. read more

About a year ago my differential was making a whining noise on my Nissan Titan. I took it to them, and they basically rebuild the whole back end. But early on after it was rebuilt I detected a faint whine. I was not sure how much noise to expect, because the paper work said that it's common to have some noise. Well we don't put a lot of miles on the truck and it just seemed to get a little louder as time went on. I was reluctant to bring it in, because I did not know how much noise is acceptable. When I finally did bring it in, it was a few weeks out of warranty. I asked Frank to test drive it to get his take on it, which he did. He said that it needed to be checked out. I made an appointment and it was fixed. New ring and pinion. They did this no charge to me. I know how hard this must have been but sometimes in life you have to do hard things. I went in for diagnosis on my 2017 Tacoma TRD 4x4 that was experiencing a howl at 50-55 MPH. I've been battling it out with Toyota and corporate to have my differential inspected/ repaired for almost two months now. Fantastic service and finished product! My U-joints went bad so tried to do the work myself. Not impossible but thought I needed balancing after I installed it. Saw there sticker on the drive shaft which was done through an insurance repair 17+ years ago. I decided to take it back to them and I'm glad I did. Frank and his staff are obviously extremely knowledgeable and qualified! Turns out the new U-joints were floating because of not being an exact fit. What was nice to hear is that he said I did a pretty good job of installation on an imperfect part. During their repair and inspection they pointed out some other things I could get done to extend the life of an already 235k 4Runner. This is a shout-out about the great experience we had at Driveline Vista back in December. We were on a road trip from Northern California hauling our 5th Wheel RV with our 2007 Dodge Pickup. Before arriving in Vista we heard a loud whining noise coming from the rear differential of the truck. This was alarming because right before leaving on our trip we had a Dodge dealership repair the rear differential at a significant expense. After taking it to a local Dodge dealer who said it would take 3 or 4 weeks just to start working on it, we took it to Driveline Vista where we were greeted by Frank. Frank set us up and had the repair complete in just two days. Turns out it was the Northern California Dodge dealer's shop that left a part not properly installed. Frank said that if the Dodge dealership had any questions about the faulty repair to give them his contact information. We were reimbursed by the Dodge dealership for the re-repair. This is the place to take your vehicle. After lifting my Excursion, I took it to Driveline Vista, to extend the front driveline. Soon after, I went back for a custom rear driveline with a cv joint, gears, lockers, hubs, bearings, rebuilt transfer case, transmission service... they even found some problems that had to do with the lift company and fixed them. These guys have always been straight forward, whether it was on a problem, or price. Frank wrote me up for some parts that I wanted replace when they already had things apart; but after taking everything apart, he realized they were fine. When I payed the ticket he had taken those parts and labor costs off (which was a nice surprise). I have also taken another vehicle there for service and a new driveline, and plan on taking my old project truck in when it gets to that point. Also, My truck is a beast. read more

I met Frank this week after a horrible experience in East County. I went to have my custom driveshaft balanced after my recent home repair. Having left the disappointing shop in East County, and my office being in Vista, I searched the web and called Driveline Vista. Frank gave me his personal mobile number and told me to text him some pics so he could verify that he could balance the driveshaft. He replied, no problem...bring it in. Frank found that not only was the driveshaft out of balance, but that it was bent beyond being able to straighten. Frank said he could fix it by replacing the actual driveshaft tube for a couple hundred bucks. DEAL, WELD IT UP! When I went in today and picked up the driveshaft, I was blown away by the quality of the workmanship. It looks better than new, and I look to have years of smooth operation in the future. After driving twice the distance to get there than to drivelinr service of San Diego, because I was told its be done same day, I sat around for several hours waiting at the advice of vista driveline. Finally when they were shutting down for the day he told me he couldn't finish my driveshaft because they ran out of material. I only took it there because I was told same day service. Then, when I was called on the next working day, they wanted full price! They weren't willing to budge at all even after telling them I was paying cash and reminding him he cost me hours of my own time and extra gas to go back there to get it. This is the WORST customer service I have ever felt with at an automotive shop and I will tell everyone I can to avoid it like the plague. I will never use Frank or Driveline Vista again and I suggest all customers be weary of what they order and what they actually receive. I ordered two driveshafts, and had the front one literally fall out of my vehicle on the drive home from his facility from being too short. When I approached Frank to repair the issue and/or replace the part I was denied and given the run around multiple times. During my dispute with my credit card company he fabricated complete lies which ended up in the total loss of my $816.10.
