I purchased a condo in Las Vegas that was needing a lot of mini repairs. As I live out of town and would be unable to meet someone at the condo, I sent through a detailed list of what was needing to be done and also photos. A few days passed and no one called nor emailed. I contacted them to ask if they had received this email and to find out if they could help. The person that answered the phone was extremely rude and asked numerous times, "well, are you going to pay me for the work?" I answered "of course I would pay for work performed". He then asked me to send the email again. In trying to understand this person's accusatory response, he said "well this is Vegas, you know". I guess he's having a bad day. First their work is fine, though they need to be supervised and often want to do it their way. My real complaint is their pricing seems go to go up as you give them more jobs -- Example: I asked them to replace 6 roofing tile over the garage -- They came up with a price of $1,900.00 -- An actual roofing company would be no more than $400.00. I wish I had the same experience as all the other reviews. He was called to hook up 2 new ceiling fans which already had existing wiring and wall switches. Could not hook them up properly so one switch turned on the light and the other turned on the fan even though the fan that was there before had the exact same set up. He was also brought out to install overhead garage storage shelves which were bought from Costco and had detailed instructions and just needed to be attached to the studs in the ceiling of the garage. After over an hour of doing I don't know what he comes in to tell me he can't do it. While he was very nice and polite I would not hire him back again. read more

We were about to get a new dryer installed, when my husband found out that the tape connecting the vent attachment to the duct had ripped. He was hoping to do the simple fix of just taping them back together himself, but the duct was mostly behind the drywall, so there was no way to get at it w/o going through part of the wall. According to my husband, he's great at taping things together, but with drywall cutting/repair involved, it was time to call in a professional! Luckily, I saw Mel C's recommendation and trusted his judgement. We had seen dryer vent boxes that recess into the wall, and figured that's what we needed, so we asked Pete to install one of these. He came out the same day we called, looked with a flashlight into the area behind the wall, and noticed there was a wall stud extremely close to the vent. He said it would be no problem to install the dryer vent box, but depending on what was behind the wall, could run $300-$400, and would look very nice when installed how we wanted. That was a little pricey for something that's going to be hidden by a dryer for as long as we live here, so we asked Pete if there was a cheaper fix that was still safe (i.e., would give a lasting airtight seal for the vent), that didn't have to look quite as good. Pete said there were a couple other potential fixes, like cutting a square of drywall and then patching it, or that Home Depot might have some smaller box or other item that would let him do it, and that he would go look what they had. Pete said he could likely do a cheaper fix for around $200, which we were happy with. Pete came back the next day, cut out the drywall, bolted the vent to the attachment with screws, then taped the vent so it was airtight. Best of all, as we were ready to hand over $200, Pete said he was only charging us $165 for the job! Timely, knowledgeable, efficient, polite, professional, creative, and trustworthy, which are all the things that add up to a great handyman. read more

This post is a little late as Pete worked on my condo over the summer (sorry Pete!). I have a rental unit in Henderson. I had recently evicted my tenant and was desperate to find someone trustworthy to repair my condo. I had read some reviews on Yelp and saw Pete had some wonderful reviews. He came over to the condo and I explained what I needed done. I needed some painting, the carpet removed, and the baseboard replaced. In walking the condo with him, he showed me the drywall in the bathroom needed to be repaired and I needed to have some holes patched in my walls. He gave me a very fair estimate for everything that needed to be done. A few days in to the project, he called to say he found some leaking pipes. He took pictures of the areas, gave me a quote to fix them, and he took care of them for me. I hired a carpet guy to come lay the carpet. The guy gave me a quote for what I was looking for. Pete was able to find another carpet man, get me a better price, and oversaw the project for me. He was straightforward with me from the get go. He fixed what I needed to get fixed and pointed out some other issues that needed some attention. Did I mention i live in the San Francisco Bay Area? We did most of our business by phone or text. I really appreciated the fact he could be trusted. My potential tenant told me the unit looked great when she went to look at the condo. The carpet was nice and everything looked brand new! I can't express how satisfied with my experience with Pete and his partner. I had a bunch of odd jobs around the house that needed fixing. I called him up and scheduled an appointment. They have a two man team-plumber and electrician. In less than 2.5 hour they did tv wall mounting, leaking faucet, pad locking back fence door, Backdoor that's hard to open, air conditioning filter, garbage disposal and valve and tubing for washer/dryer. This also includes traveling time to pick up the items needed from hardware store. They were efficient and even answered all my concerns on other areas of the house.
