Called2Arms is my go-to firearms store. I was a first-time firearm buyer when I first visited the store this summer. The staff was friendly and patient as I asked basic questions about buying a firearm in California - I didn't even know what "on roster" meant before arriving! They gave me a lot of valuable information that I couldn't have found online easily. As a novice firearm buyer I found it interesting to observe that the other customers were from many different backgrounds and affiliations. I noted that the staff treated every customer with respect. On my first visit I left without a firearm because I wanted to do more research on what I wanted for myself. I added Called2Arms on my Facebook and set the notifications to come up first on my feed. I appreciate that they consistently let their customers know when new stock arrives and will be available for purchase. I don't think many stores do this. The Facebook notifications alerted me to when a practical firearm for home defense became available for me to purchase. I was nervous when I picked up my firearm because I thought I would look so unskilled when I had to perform the safe handling demonstration. Once again, the staff took time to review and I felt comfortable completing the steps. For all these reasons, Called2Arms will be my go-to firearm store. read more

5 stars everyday. The shop is always clean and smells good when I have been there. The best part of this shop is probably the staff (Alex). All of the staff have been very professional, knowledgeable. I like dealing with Alex because he is even tempered and above all else helpful and fair. The owner is as well. I haven't had a bad experience in the 1.5 years that I have been doing business there and I have bought several guns here. I have spent a lot of time looking around at the store and have been impressed with how the staff handle customers and situations. Another impressive consideration of the store is the operating hours. Opened 7 days a week through 8 PM. I wish the store was bigger had more of a selection when it comes to rifles and ARs. The shop is small compared to other shops in Modesto... they don't have a huge selection or assortment but seem to have a little bit of everything. If you are looking for handguns this is an excellent starting point. I do my PPT here as well and I can count on the process going smoothly. If I have a questions about particular happenings or laws related to guns this is the place I call first. read more

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better gun store in CA. I haven't. There are plenty of decent ones, but Called2Arms takes the cake in every category: customer service, inventory, knowledgeable employees, and the list goes on. I've been to gun shops all over the country, and the first thing I noticed about Called2Arms was that the employees treated everyone really well. They didn't act like the typical gun shop douches you run into at other places. You know the type. The whole "I know more than you about guns so I'm going to talk down to you" kind of thing. I've never seen that happen once at Called2Arms. I have, however, seen them help multiple first time gun owners in a way that I would consider exemplary. Quick story to tell you the type of shop this place is... I brought my dad in from out of town and he immediately got into a great conversation with the owner and one of the employees about all things guns. After swapping stories for about 45 minutes, the conversation ended with the owner offering to help me and my dad move our safe. All around class act! I bought two handguns from Called2Arms, first one was, I was never a Glock gun guy but wanted to try one for myself, when I walked in the shop I was approached by this lady employee and I asked to look at a Glock19, she told me all about it, and I remember her saying " it's not a very pretty gun but you'll love the way it shoots", I don't remember her name but she reminded me of " Rosie the Riveter", even though I wasn't ready to buy one just yet, she was so cute that I pulled out my bank card and bought it !! LOL,. ( I think she could've charged me $1,200 for it and still would've bought it, LOL). The second handgun I bought was a S&W Shield, the person who sold me the gun was Vincent Holland, ( may he rest in peace), very, very friendly guy, first time I met him I felt like I knew him forever ! that's how awesome this guy was !, to sum it all up, Called2Arms is one shop with NO big ego, rambo attitude, everyone there is Awesome !! I drove 2 hours after finding out that they had 9mm in stock. First of all, the staff was super nice and understanding on the phone. I was worried that the price would be marked up since 9mm handguns were not coming in, but not the case. The price was perfect. Second of all, upon arriving they were having some sort of shop check for few hours. The workers were polite and told me that for few hours it will not open up and I should go grab coffee as I was there in the morning. So I did and came back to wait it out. I wanted to be the first in line and get my handgun. I came back and waited outside the store. It was hot and I was sitting on the floor. One of the workers noticed that and brought me a chair outside. I was great full for that. Third of all, this shop made my first gun buying experience pleasant! I have heard a lot of bad things about other guns shops, but this shop was very different! Will def bring my business back here! read more

The staff at Called2arms are professional and know their firearms. I had reached out to Jerry recently and asked for his assistance to try and help me get my property back from Merced PD that was awaiting approval from Department of Justice (DOJ). Through a series of communications with MPD and DOJ, information was passed that DOJ was planning to confiscate my firearms and brand them as assault weapons. Jerry spent close to 25 minutes explaining to a police captain at MPD that they were mistaken and violating my constitutional rights. After getting this bad news, I sought out help from my District Assemblymember Adam Gray. The staff at his office communicated with DOJ about my issue and helped to return my firearms. DOJ was a nightmare to deal with, but Jerry and his patience in helping me, was instrumental in helping to get my property returned. read more

When I heard modesto had another gun store I was glad I had another option. I never expected it to look as great as it did! They are NOT your average, crowded gunshop. Their display cases look awesome and everything is super clean. They seem to have had a bit of a rocky start with pricing on some ammo and other items and such but they were fair and even adjusted some of them. Jerry, the owner is a great guy and very knowledgeable about guns. They have a little bit of everything on their shelves and I overheard them looking up other items that a customer wanted that they didn't have. I was mostly in to take a look and grab some 22 but I know I'll be going back. All the employees were fun to talk to and BS with. Their Kel Tec shotguns looked badass! Without a doubt this is the ONLY gun store in modesto I will be buying from from now on. read more

Found what I want advertised at Called2Arms in Modesto. I called to confirm that it was in stock and the lady on the phone was very helpful and friendly. I went down to the shop as she stated that the item was still in stock. When I arrived at the shop I was fortunate enough to deal with the same lady I talked to on the phone. Again, very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Decided to purchase what I went in for and she got me set up with paperwork in no time. Very easy to deal with. I also saw other sales reps helping other customers, all looking very friendly and professional. Price wise, the item I purchased was priced very competitively to pre covid and pre protest/riots. We really do appreciate their honest and super ethical business practices. Best gun store in the area. They're the only store I use. I've purchased countless guns through them and have had nothing, but great experiences. I once purchased a specialized gun that was supposed to come with a challenge coin, unfortunately when I picked up firearm the challenge coin was missing. I believe the owner contacted me and had the situation rectified within a day of two. Great customer service. The long time employees remember you and a person. I sent a relative in to purchase a firearm and when he was picking it up he mentioned to the employees I was his nephew, and Alex remembered who I was and asked how I was doing since it's been a bit since I've been in store. Love the staff here. While waiting in line, I got to see the staff assist a few folks that were considering their first handgun purchase. I sat there just taking it in. Not once did any of the staff put the person off or belittle them. They made sure they understood the need and offered up very valid recommendations. Often I saw the person walking in with what they thought they wanted and ended up making a better choice based on the staff's help. Well done Called2Arms. I was a first time gun buyer when I went to called2Arms 2 years ago. As a woman AND a first time gun buyer I was nervous to enter a gun shop and be treated badly for being uneducated, because there were a few shops around town that did make me feel this way before I came here. But that was not the case here at called2Arms. There were two gentlemen in the store when I went in and they made me feel comfortable and welcomed my questions from the get go. I felt comfortable asking all my questions and they took the time to answer all of them without making me feel dumb. Great place I recommend them as well as on target arms and sierra arms screw CA shooting sports gun snobs at least they were when they first opened they literally lost out on about 4500 dollars worth of gear that I was gonna buy just because some little asshole behind the counter was rude and unprofessional but called2arms and on target arms are great as well as sierra arms bar wood in Ripon has always been great too but I highly recommend called2arms great store employees are friendly as well as the owner I think I met once or twice when they first opened I believe it was around the time it was nearly impossible to find 22LR sincerely Tanner Norton read more

This was the first FFL I visited the day after my 18th birthday to take my FSC. The staff were more than helpful then with my "I know nothing" questions and throughout the years between now and then have always remained polite and full of information. I was looking for a .22 caliber rifle and the employees were very informative on the differences between the different options (I settled on a 10/22) My only "complaint" is that I wish they carried more military surplus firearms. The store is clean, the staff are professional and they are very good about posting new inventory and in stocks. Support your local stores (especially in CA right now). read more

Seen a Grand Opening sign a couple Weeks ago for a gun store..... and you bet i had to check it out! I was with my wife and she isnt very familiar with gun. the guys took the time to explain some things to her. We talked to the guys for close to 45 min and man time flew. Everyone seems to be down to earth normal citizens. Some gun stores are too cocky and almost try to make you feel stupid. I always traveled out of town to get my guns but not anymore. This will be my gun store for future purchases. another thing real fast is they have plans for the future! possible gun range and gunsmithing. Cant wait to see what the future holds ! read more

I've been a customer of almost every gun shop in the Modesto/Turlock area and I can honestly say the Jerry and his staff at Called2Arms runs THE BEST shop in the area, possibly in Northern California. Their stock is plentiful and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. In many gun shops, the staff seems to "talk down" to customers who may be new to firearm ownership, but not at C2A. They respect the first time, kicking the tires customer as much as the long time enthusiast/collector. If you're in the market for a new handgun or rifle give C2A a shot (pun intended). The best place for Guns, Ammo, etc. around! I've been back here numerous times since discovering this shop. I drive out from the Bay Area to come here because it truly is my favorite. The staff are all super friendly and very knowledgeable, and were able to answer any questions I had. They are also very quick with their response time any time I've messaged them. And they are not trying to price gouge people like some other shops are during this rough time, which I truly recognize and appreciate. I purchased my latest Glock from them a few weeks back and the interaction could not have been any better! Took my wife here for a S&W Shield 9mm and we were blown away with the help that we received during the process. My wife was a little worried about coming back and loading the gun(blank) at the counter while the guy was watching, and he was very kind and made her feel very comfortable. Shortly after the purchase, we returned to the shop to Thank the gentleman for being so kind and we found out he had passed away from a fall, we were so sad and passed on our condolences.
