For our friends birthday celebration we visited the ultra charming Callisto Tea House to enjoy a private tea tasting with the owners Nathan & Wendy and we were all enthralled with the different teas. Nathan shared 4 teas from around the world with us and they were each unique and delicious! It was fascinating to learn about the teas and how best to steep them, enjoy them, pair them, and of course, how they are made. We also enjoyed a delicious lemon ginger scone and a pandan cookie after the tasting. This was an incredible experience and one I highly recommend! Once you walk in, you'll appreciate the care and consideration put into decorating this space. It's a really peaceful spot to take a moment out of your day to experience the teleportation into another time period based on your tea selection. Each tea item on the menu describes the origin and the various notes that you'll taste with each pour. If you have the time for some respite, I recommend the Gong Fu service. My friend and I tried the Diamond Cutter. It is a ceremonial grade experience where they teach you how to wash the tea, steep and warm the pot during 30 sec intervals, and serve. You do this several times in order to taste all the different top and base notes during the tea extraction process. We thoroughly enjoyed coming here and I look forward to bringing more friends and family here. Who knows, I might learn to be a sommelier, but for teas by frequenting this amazing spot! Let's begin with one of the key elements apart from tea itself: the scone. The ginger scone had surprisingly exceptional texture and flavor! The toast was made from in-house sour dough bread with these delightful, flavorful spreads that ventured beyond traditional tea fare, yet not so far as to muddy the experience beyond recognition, as sometimes happens at other more adventurous tea houses. They wisely reserved the adventure for the tea menu. There was a fun selection of strong teas to choose from, served up on cute tea cups you hope to find at a high tea. The only thing that could be improved are the plain tea pots and ambiance could be a bit more decorative. It also would be an appreciated bonus to have the option to be offered or to be able to purchase a second scone. Overall, the service and experience were well worth the trip and price tag! Honestly, this is probably one of the best tea houses I have ever been. I went to a tea tasting event and it was well worth the experience. The decor is beautiful. The staff are informative on the tea. They allow you to pick a tea cup for your pot of tea. It's a truly wonderful experience. You probably want to make reservations if you have a decent size party as they had several tables reserved while I was there. After the recent fires, I feel it's even more important to be supporting our local businesses and small business owners, especially the fantastic, unique, and treasured ones like Callisto. I finally got a chance to enjoy an afternoon at this quiet, quaint, sweet little tea house and will be back many a time in the future! The host was patient and polite and walked me through the options; he also let me know upfront what was sold out for the day. I selected one of the cold brew teas and it was perfect. I also got the mango cookie (also perfect - right combo of sweet and chewy) and two of the tea sandwiches. Though small, they have quality ingredients and were really tasty, and satiated me for the few hours I spent working. The tea house also has a selection of books and games to enjoy, and a good amount of seating to catch up with a friend. All was clean and spacious. I was so happy with my visit and so glad they are in town and have stayed open through the trauma of the past few months - please go give them a visit and your support! Thank you, Callisto! This tea shop is a gem of a place located in Pasadena, CA. The view from where you can sit inside and outside is the beautiful mountains of LA. There are a wide range of hot and cold brew teas, herbal to fruity etc. There are also beautiful chinaware, and apparently you can choose which ones you want to use from a selection if you dine in. There is also wifi and and it is a prime place to work if needed, as it is quiet and the ambiance is calm and relaxing. The staff are very attentive and sweet, and accomodating and detailed. They were very attentive with my allergies and double checked with my friend and my orders. I tried the Assam Hojicha cold brew, with a side of oat milk (special touch they have this option!) and liquid black sugar (love this unique option!). It was so refreshing and such a great pick me up from a tiring week and long drive earlier for me. They also have a small selection of small toasts; I tried the black sesame toast, it was sweet enough where it balanced out the tea perfectly. My friend got the cucumber toast which smelled amazing and the Hummingbird tea, in the cutest yellow flowered tea set. She also got an ube tea cake which was a pretty colored presentation. I definitely will come back to try other ones, the next one I want to try is the Jasmine great tea -- two of my favorite teas combined. read more

I had been looking for a vegan/vegetarian tea service since a long time and learned that Callisto is a vegetarian tea house and offers a very reasonably priced service. It is a quaint little place and oozes elegance. It was perfect. The mini toasts are lovely - they bake fresh bread every morning! The scones were delightful (and I thought I did not like scones, I just had not met the right one), the jasmine tea was wonderful. I do not like peanut butter so I was worried I would not enjoy the cupcake but the texture and flavor were great enough to not make me dislike it because of peanut butter. I was actually discussing with my friend about memorable vegan desserts in the US and overseas and I mostly only came up with great options overseas and barely any in the US as most are very disappointing as well as overpriced. I am happy to say that my experience at Callisto was amazing and I can't wait to return! Also, they have very beautiful crockery and the owners and staff are super nice. So glad we finally made it out there. Also, there is a parking lot attached to the shop but you need to get a parking pass to place on your dashboard and it is free. read more

I wish there was a higher rating than 5 stars for Callisto Tea House. Everything about my husband and I's experience was nothing short of amazing. The establishment itself is so cozy and has stunning artwork throughout. Not to mention a lot of natural light and a beautiful view of the mountains. The collective energy was incredibly inviting and positive. It just feels like a place that you don't ever want to leave. A great place for reading, writing, studying or just spending time with yourself or loved ones. The owner Wendy is absolutely amazing. She makes you feel like you are right at home and possesses so much knowledge about tea. There is a wide range of loose leaf teas to choose from, including herbal teas. They also have mini toasts available as well. This time around my husband and I got the candy apple and the turmeric ginger herbal teas. Both were SOOOO delicious. The turmeric ginger was my personal favorite and was so soothing. They also sell gifts in the store as well. One of my favorite details of the store is instead of giving you a number to put on your table for your order, they give you goddess cards with beautiful illustrations. I happened to get Morrigan which featured the goddess and a raven. This was very special to me because I love ravens and crows, and so it felt a little bit serendipitous. I could go on and on about how excited I am to have found this spot. There just are not many places I have ever come upon that are quite like Callisto Tea House. I was absolutely in love with this place. I came here on a rainy day while working on some applications and it was such a positive experience. Plenty of space to sit, adorable decor, and soft lighting and environment that is perfect for getting good work done. When I ordered my tea, and I was even asked if I wanted to pick what teacup it was served in! You also have the opportunity to ask for food pairings with your tea, which is a very nice touch. Both the black tea I ordered and the toasts (muhammara and black sesame) were so delicious. The black tea was smooth and just the right amount of bitter and the toasts had such a nice bite to them. I particularly enjoyed the muhammara toast, as the savoriness provided a nice contrast to the smooth black tea. I enjoyed my first pot so much I actually ended up going back for a second! This time, I asked for a recommendation, and the lady was so helpful in helping me select the First Snow Jasmine tea. This was a lighter tea with a delicious floral aroma and a wonderful sweet finish, which I enjoyed immensely. Overall, this location is so atmospheric and relaxing. I could practically feel my anxiety melting away with the hot tea and soothing environment. It was nice and quiet and wonderful for doing work, relaxing with friends, or reading a book! So I randomly found this unique tea house after my wife wanted some hot tea while we were in Pasadena. This isn't the usual Starbucks or boba tea shop. It isn't even your classic English tea restaurant. This is part of a small but growing movement of Asian tea houses. They serve unique teas with a traditional presentation--no sugary syrups, flavorings, etc. I have been to Seven Cups in Tucson and Callisto has a similar feel. I did try a savory snack and that was tasty. Their teas are excellent if you have a taste for traditional style tea. The service is top notch.
